  • really tks...

  • @dontchangemypass welcome

  • ur mad good u should start sellin them

  • @gringoloco84 naaa

  • how do you call the tool (ice peak with needle hole in front and spool)?

  • @tiganfascist it say An Awl For All on it. I'ld call it a leather awl

  • @tiganfascist tnx

  • Why can't you use two sewing needles. The Handsewing Book by Al Stohlman, sold at your local Tandy Leather Store, shows you how to do it. It is easier than using that Reel Looking Awl. Two needles using the IN and OUT method. On thicker leather use a Dremel Tool with a small bit, for your stitching holes

  • @dulcelake Cool! Didnt know about that. I'll have to look into it. Thanks!

  • @dulcelake I use this method. I think I want an awl though. (Well, Ideally a Tippmann Boss HS hand stitcher.) But the double needle hand sewing method works.

  • Nice job man! Thanks for the video! I am teaching my son how to do things with his hands this summer (Other than video games) Maybe a new hobby? Who knows?

    Either way..thanks!

  • @forrestmunden ur welcome!

  • Thanks for the great video. I plan to make some holsters also. You might already know this, but I saw another video from a pro holster maker and he had an idea to make a "sight channel" All he did was put a pencil (or small wood dowel) over his sights. You could notch out the wood to fit over the front sight. When you form the leather over the gun, then the leather forms a channel over the dowel to allow a smooth draw of the gun. Just a thought -I do like how you came up with this on your own.

  • @romansten9 Thats a pro for you! Thanks for the tip. And thanks for watching!

  • Hi, Great work! If you're interested I think I might have the perfect tool for gouging a groove for your sight, just search for "leathercraft O Gouger " on youtube, or visit my youtube channel

    Thanks for the video

  • Nice work. If you ever get the chance, try using a small drill press without power to sew with. A cheap import will work fine. Put your sewing awl needle in the chuck, and use a thick piece of leather or soft wood as a backing. Position your leather, pull down on the handle running your needle through the leather, back off slightly to make a loop, catch the loop with the other needle, back drill press needle out, pull string tight and repeat. Much easier than hand awl. Safer for fingers too.

  • @sergeantsailorman DUDE!!! Thats a great idea! Too bad my chuck is broken!!! I'll have to try and fix it!

  • Great job Sir,,

    Thaaaaaanx

  • @Qzainal Your welcome!

  • lol, your commentary makes it seem like you can read the veiwer's minds. Are you an instructor of some kind?

  • @scilonthreat Naw, just decent at explaining things. I watch my vdis over and over before I publish so if I see something that it needs I can add or explain. Thanks for the comment!

  • Where do you buy your supplies... Specifically that bag of leather and the 3 and 4 prong stitch punches?

What ounce leather should one buy for makeing a holster ? Have you ever tried predrilling the holes with a 1/16th inch drill bit chucked in a cordless drill to pre preforate the leather prior to stitching? Perhaps lightly punching it in order to get the spacing correct and then following that up with the drill bit?

  • @rainmechanic I was given the punches but I get all my supplies and leather at Hobby Lobby... If you are staying thin, you can force the needle hru. I did it that way for years. I dont know about at drill bit...

  • is that pig leather? its a mans version of crocheting, thats how I look at it!!

  • @crackawise Cow hide as far as I know... I can crochet a straight line not useing the hook...

  • is that pig leather?

  • Thank you for the trick of putting the needle on your tag end... Never thought of that.

  • @ConnerPlainLiving Its makes it a bit quicker I'ld think. I've never fed it by hand...

  • hey D evrytime you have a new idea to do , waiting to see the how will be your new holster ......

whats about your last hunt with dude ?

  • @zuhairzq Ive so many vids to build. I have like 7 waiting. It takes some time! The second hunt vid is being posted today I think, LOL. You will see the new holster on my hip in the hunt vid if you look close.

  • There was something I was gunna ask you to make for me but I can't remember what the hell it was...lol

    Cool holster DNA!!!!

  • @MrHOGKNUCKLE You must be playing in the corn fields too much MrKnucklehead.. Thanks!

  • Damn D looks like money now LOL!!!No shit man thats too awesome!!

  • @MrGETitGOTit I wouldnt mind making some $ off of what I love to do. If I could find a buyer. Hardest part is I need the sidearm to do it properly.

  • can't wait to see part 3! that looks pretty labor intensive and I bet your hands hurt at the end of that

  • @mnjbooth Its alot of labor yes. But hurt? Sore a little, all my work is done by hand. Kinda goes with the buisness.

  • Great Video Very skilled

  • @lightweightbaby12345 Thanks! But I dont know about the skilled pat. I just make things to the picture in my head or what I think is right. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice job...!!! Interesting video!

  • @TheVittleVlog Thanks Bro! I'm kinda behind on vids. I'll catch some of yours soon!

  • you sure like tedious stuff! you must have a lot of patience or you're just really cheap like me! lol.

  • @fracwilt I can be cheap. But I do like the challenge of doing things. I love to design, build and create, anything with my hands. I just love to create things...

  • you said you hav'nt done this for a long time. did you learn this on your own or was school trained ?. cuz you sound like a pro dude. man I said it before your kinda like a Mcguyver lol. I say that as a compliment. the other mcguyver was hollywood BS

  • @2xtrmshot It has to be in the genes... my gram was an incredible artist and she also worked in a shoe shop. No one ever taught me. I asked a few ?'s and started making knife cases at a young age. This is my 3rd holster of this very design. I'm just good at teaching! LOL

  • I have a glock22 safariland I can give you D.

  • @derekgrebner87 Thanks Bro! I have 2 of these. One cross draw and the shoulder holster for my night batteries and such. I also have a thigh holster I made. Thats plenty! This one was done last Thursday.

  • Looks Good!

  • @jstrunck It'll get better! Thanks!

  • Looks nice. I have never done that. Thanks for showing us!

  • @TXBucksnort I started with knife cases... You need to try it too... at least make repairs to your equipment.

  • That is cool...Hope you are sharing this with Lookin4meMarbles!!!!

    -DUDE

  • @hogdude1234 I think he subs... he only comments once in a while. He may have on the last one.

  • Coming along real nice, I have a knife sheath I made from a boot, always cool doing it yourself

  • @deepfriedking Boots are great!!! I used a boot for the leather strap on a walking stick, also used the leather to hold it together. The sole for a bumper on bottom. It had 10oz of lead in the top with a steel cap. That was for the left hand. The right held a 3' spear tipped with a 10" bayonet! I gave that to Shanes Dad...

  • Man thats a lot of work but theres always something to be said for doing it yourself. Lookin good!

  • @AntiHuntersLoveMe There sure is! Its cheaper and custom!!!

  • Lookin good Derek!!

  • @TheSimpleMan81 Thanks!.... dArAk... my mom was weird with the spelling... LOL

  • Great Job , Its alot of work !

  • @krazy45cat It sure is. I finished it quick. The vids are more work than the holster!

  • Looking good. It's been years since I stitched leather like that. Thanks for the refresher.

By the way, If the sun comes out tomorrow I'll take some pics of a real nice translucent obsidian blade (midnight lace) I made over the weekend.

Cant wait to see the finished holster.

  • @TheSwineSlayer Cool on that blade. Email the pic. Yeah, gonna take a few vids to show the work. So many clips...
