My friends are definitly on a high pedistal...up there with my imediate family...but its hard sometimes...its hard to tell which ones really give a shit about u and which ones are just there for the moment...

I have met some really great friends here at college and I value them very much. However, I do have to say that I hold my mom the highest because she's one of my best friends and she's been there for me when other people wern't. She also pays for my tuition, so I really appreciate her for that.

I really think it depends on the person & their own relationships. I have a great bond with my family and I see them all the time. Some of my family are my best friends. I may not be as lucky in meeting people that are as genuine and trustworthy as my family, but I'm thankful that I have such a great family that it really doesn't matter. Sadly some of my best friends have come and gone because they weren't what I needed in my life, but my family is constant and always there when it counts.

Personally I think of my friends as my family. When I was 11 I got diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and my mom was right there by my side. But my friends from school were, too. So all you people who say friends aren't as important as family, that's your opinion. And I'm okay with all that. And even though I'm only 13, I like to see it as this: I survived my diabetes with the support of my friends and family. Thank you for putting this message out, Cody. I do i have all my friends higher than my family. they are just as important to me but firend are more open and you can tell them thing you may not want to talk to your family about. I dont know what i would do without some of my friends seriously. i have had many move and it sucks but you start to just see that they are still there for you when you talk to them even tho they are so far away.

I really think it depends on the person & their own relationships. I have a great bond with my family and I see them all the time. Some of my family are my best friends. I may not be as lucky in meeting people that are as genuine and trustworthy as my family, but I'm thankful that I have such a great family that it really doesn't matter. Sadly some of my best friends have come and gone because they weren't what I needed in my life, but my family is constant and always there when it counts.

I'm totally the same. I always say that my only family are the ones living in the house with me. My friends are more to me than the rest of my family. Everyone always thinks I'm so awful... but I'm glad someone finally understands. I really like these little videos you've been doing lately.

Like, family is related to you, and your stuck with them no matter what. But with friends, you get to choose them, so it means that they're people you really care about. Plus, I feel way more comfortable talking about just about anything with my friends, and I can rarely talk to my family.

I completely agree with you. My family isn't always there for me, they tease me when I don't want them to and can be really insensitive sometimes. My friends are always ALWAYS there even if they're having a bad day or whatever they'll listen to what I have to say and help me get through it.

I mean, my family isn't exactly always there for me, and they don't help me through my problems. They don't make me laugh all the time, and they don't help me when I'm down. It's always my friends.
My friends that I've met-they live all around the country. And I still talk to them all the time, along with all my friends around here.

Actually Cody, I disagree with you.
I hold my family closer because I guess I'm more of a keep to yourself kind of person and I don't like having my friends to deal with my problems so I just don't tell them things. And I do tell my family most of the things that happen maybe just because I live with them and I am always around them.

I totally agree. I only know a few people in my entire family very well. besides those few I don't really know the rest of my family. I see my friends everyday, and I constantly talk and interact with them. I do think that my friends are my family, truly I do.

when i have issues in school i'll go to my friends instead of my family. so in a way, that makes friends part of my family because i feel better talking to them than i do to my real family. so they're like my chosen family, while my blood-related family is my not chosen family.

Man I so always felt weird for feeling that way, but its true. Some people just feel that their family like siblings or cousins are meant to be there, but then you meet people and its like they're more of a sibling on so many levels and you can't help that. Good friends are automatically family:D

This is true. But think about the people who have non friends. I don't really have anybody I can talk to and trust becuase once I open up there gone. So yea... I would say I do count them closer to me than my whole family. You don't choose your family but you do choose your friends.

I agree with you completely mate. It really depends on which definition of the word you use; "a group of people who share common attitudes, interests, or goals" is actually listed.
I mean, I have family members I've seen for maybe an entire week over the course of my life. Do I consider them any different than a random stranger? No, not really.
I have friends who know me, care about me, and who I'd do anything for. Do I consider them family? Yes, yes I do. :)

Personally I think of my friends as my family. When I was 11 I got diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and my mom was right there by my side. But my friends from school were, too. So all you people who say friends aren't as important as family, that's your opinion. And I'm okay with all that. And even though I'm only 13, I like to see it as this: I survived my diabetes with the support of my friends and family. Thank you for putting this message out, Cody. You've opened a lot of people's eyes. :)
