I remember watching this movie when it aired back in the day, I was only 12 years old. Fell madly in love with Marc Singer! I rushed out to get the book and it made me cry as hard as the ending of this movie. Blessings to the Cappelletti family and thanks for posting this.
Those of you who were shortchanged by the absence of the 'leukemia treatment progress' epilogue that aired at the original showing back in 1977, raise your hand.
If you are not wiping tears away after this movie, there is something seriously wrong with you. One of the most inspiraional movies ever. Thanks so much for posting. This is a movie that all should see. And by the way, who is the clown that disliked this???
It always puzzled me that Marc Singer could be so good in things like this, If You Could See What I Hear, etc. and later, he could only find work in crap like the Beastmaster movies.
I watched this movie when I was 9 years old and I am now 42 and the ending still gets to me. Joey running in slow motion to jump in his big brother's arms who loved him very much. Wonderful but sad movie. Thanks, for sharing.
This was a great movie, I loved it :)) It was so touching, especially the part where John was giving his speech....I cried during that scene!! Thank you so much for posting this movie :)))
@Ocean71fvr Thank you Julie, I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie!! It's one of my favorite made-for-TV movies from the 70's. I cried too, I couldn't hold back my tears when they were at the banquet and John giving that speech. I agree, it was so touching!!! R.I.P. Joey Cappelletti.
RIP Coach Paterno!

How could that guy about 5:20 in continue to puff on his cigar(ette) while John spoke so tearfully about his baby brother?

Thank you. This movie touched me when I saw it as a teenager, and I always seem to well-up when I see it or hear the score.
