this is the worst phone ever when it comes to removing sim/battery. Just keep trying though it'll eventually open.. Try pressing against the lower part of the back and then up.

I tried to open the back as you demonstrated, but I can't get it open. The back is very smooth, so how do you get enough traction to open it?
