  • This proves nothing.

  • Im pretty high right now, and this is very strange.

  • very weird, very very weird.

  • So the guy at the airport is farting blizzards?

  • @flatblackstrat the guy at the airport isnt farting at all, he had a hidden gas cylinder.

  • @houdiinii Wow way to be oblivious champ..... right over your head.

  • I'm gonna stick my neck out and call fake on this one. The spray doesn't come out from his ass.

  • I'm gonna stick my neck out and call fake on this one. The spray doesn't come out from his ass.

  • could it be possible to make a thermal camera from a nintendo wii remote?

i think so cuz it has a thermal camera so all you need is a ultra powerful ir led

  • You should make a video of your ir cam and record your freezer opening and watch the black mist come out. That would be cool.

  • the first one was a quick flame burst and the second one was cool gas being sprayed and being let out of a small thing that looks like a lighter. lmao the colors were reversed. oh and that guy was in a big freezer for a while before the video.

  • farts make my bum orgasm

  • he's probly american

  • "ooo i can heat up my skin....... OW!" hahaha nerd alert!!! but seriously can someone thermal image a fart for real please... it'd be oh so amusing.

  • > thermal image a fart for real

Normal thermal cameras can't see farts (gas not nearly hot enough.) Perhaps a narrow band "GasfindIR" camera could do it.

  • @wbeaty or if you lit your fart with a lighter

  • How about heating the propane canister to 98deg F - and then bring it into a cooler room - and set the IR to the correct wavelength? How about that? huh? can you do something that simple? go ahead - I'll hold my breath

  • > heating the propane

Doesn't work. Can you see the 98F air plume from my arm? Nope. On cheap thermal cams, gas won't appear white unless it's about 150F hotter than ambient.

And if it's black, then it's chilled way way below 0deg.

Expensive "gasfindIR" cameras might be able to see farts though. But it certainly wouldn't look as if someone shooting a cold jet from a spray can held behind their leg. What *would* it look like? Well, imagine if you set off a smoke bomb inside your pants.

  • @wbeaty

I have a gasfindir camera and you can see methane gas. You can also reverse image polarity so it could be black or white.

  • the thermal is white hot, so in the farting video it is black---black means cold ...and farts are warm

  • so where are the real farting on thermal cam videos? are they all fake?

  • Sorry to say, yes. But if you really want to see a fart, do it underwater. That's foolproof.

  • well yeah but im pretty sure the thermal thing is mor interesting because like they have those kind of cameras at like places so if u can really see someone farting on those cams its totally spying!

  • @Xscenelaura This is the stupidest topic ever.

  • well im sure that the infrared fart doesnt think that now does it?

  • so what color was steve's fart? lol

  • You're funny :D

  • heh yeah but it comes from inside the body, who knows how long that gas has been sitting there getting all nice and warm,

  • Warm gas should look white. Black equals cold. It's freeze-spray, or perhaps a dust-off can of compressed air.

Notice that the camera can't see your breath, yet your breath is just as warm.

  • Just inversion of temperature values. Your video has high temp as white. For the fart video, they set high temp as black. Each pixel only contain temperature value. Color scale can be easily adjusted by software.

  • > inversion of temperature values

Be more observant. In their hoax video, bare skin is white, clothing is gray, and background floors are darker. That's how standard monochrome FLIR always appears: hot skin against cold background, with warm clothing colored in-between. Also, in standard FLIR images, human fingers usually look darker than the hand ..as they do in the hoax vid

Now imagine a smoke bomb in your pants. That's what a genuine "methane video" would resemble.

  • omg I want a FLIR camera so bad

how can I get my hands on one for cheap ?

  • > get my hands on one

Get a part time job. Save up a couple of thousand. Then camp out on youtube bidding on lots of thermal cams. Eventually you'll outbid someone. The longer you wait, the cheaper it will be.

But beware of scams, and avoid sellers with few sales. Single, high-price objects are more likely to be fake.

  • Some Sony handycams have IR features, not sure what model though, tokyocoony used one to hunt down housemice in one of his Life In Tokyo video blogs.

  • > Sony handycams

No, they don't. They only have NIR, which is basically the same as visible light (and required a floodlight for "night vision." Thermal cams aren't 1000nM, instead they're 20,000nM, and can see glowing hot 25C surfaces in absolute darkness.

  • @wbeaty Oops, my mistake.

I've seen james may use a civilian version before, it didn't have visible brand though.

  • freaky

  • you'd think intelligent people would do more productive things with their time and equipment. I was mistaken xD

  • What's with all the comments like Nerd and loser? All he is doing is proveing that some videos were fake and thouse people posting thoughs comments were proably dumb enough to belive the farts were real anyways... Good work on the video

  • but wouldnt the fart show up on the thermal due to the heat coming from the body temp? i understand it doesnt show up coming out of the torch but its at room temp not body temp on the torch

  • > show up on the therma due to heat

You can't see my breath, yet it's at body temp. You can't see the hot air rising off my hands.

Hot gases don't show up on thermal cameras unless they're VERY hot; like above 70C.

Yet warm surfaces show up even if they're only a couple of degrees hotter than room temperature.

  • cool vid, wish i had a FLIR camera

  • you're a gigantic nerd!

  • Be nice to nerds... Chances are you'll end up working for one.

  • it caught a ghost at 00:48

  • i think you may be looking at the shadow on the left from his hand moving.

  • You're a gigantic nerd!

  • i cant believe this guy made a video about this

  • If you notice, the guy in the "infrared fart" video had very dark hands, as if he's been messing with something cold.

  • I believe you, but you should do a mini clinical trial and demonstrate with real farts and compare

  • mythbuster? :D

  • yes... but is the propane room temp? while the methaine is hot.... when it exits....

  • Good point. But if the hoax video shows methane as black, then some *cold* methane should be even blacker. Instead it's invisible.

Why can't we see the warm air pouring upwards off my body? Why can't we see my warm 98.6F breath? And when used on "paranormal phenomena" shows, why can't we see the cold spots in the haunted house that their thermometers detect? Gas has too low density compared to solids and liquids, but it does show up on FLIR when it's about +-100F from room temp.

  • No, but look up infrared fart and you'll see what he is referring to.

  • he's saying that people are making they're amasing fart videos and to "prove" it they use a FLIR camera to exaggerate the methane but in this video he is proving that methane is invisible to a FLIR camera and the people in the other videos are using freeze spray

    got it?

  • i saw no farts in this video

  • finally, someone did something about that bs video

  • bu ne şimdi amına kodumunun salağı

  • that torch was nice. but couldnt the fire backfire into the propane tank n explode?? u shud make n axe bomb its fun take axe n than take the top off light the nozzle n run lol.

  • the fire cant go back or burn without oxygen. The propane tank only has propane in it. Theres no oxygen so the fire wont burn.

  • There's no oxygen in the tank. Only once the fuel exits the nozzle and mixes with air, it can burn, but not inside the canister.

  • No, it's compressed so when he opens it its forced out, and when he lights it, it needs to expand outward to get more oxygen, since there is no oxygen coming out of the tank it won't light that close to it, and is actually around an inch from the tank where it starts to combust when there is enough oxygen.

  • where did you get the flir

    I want one.

  • that was fast lol..... but yea was wanting one that can see full IR by itself like through stuff and hot spots after heat is left that dont take like the extra IR light from the IR Led's the ones that take those and use it like a invisible flashlight for just the camera to pick up.... i have night vision but its just not as good want full IR and not just sorry cam one so can see in bushes far out and behind small obstacles thanks for reply tho u can delete comment if u want

  • Yep, then you want a used FLIR off eBay. Or pay around $6000 for a new one, Raytheon TSC thermal-eye security camera

  • Great Video's man i love the demo's you do... i been looking into getting an infrared camera for security purposes like maybe a flir system or a Hand held flir system,, no something pricey just so u can see it good on a screen what ever u hook it to and kinda low in price do you recommend any that are good? or any hand held flir's ? i would like to know But Keep doing the videos their awesome

  • On eBay, with luck and some work, you can get FLIR for under $2000.

Otherwise, most any $50 security camera can see IR, but you need an IR floodlight (the LED-cluster type, try dealextreme com)

  • security camers see ir for night vision

    but they dont see heat

  • Comment removed

  • Sell your house.

  • YOUR THE MAN!!! 100% correct im glad im not the only one who knows that that camera was set up to shot hot as white and cold as black, it is obvisouly a cold steam of refridgerant from an aersol can.

  • A thermal camera detects heat not chemicals so if the methane is warm it'd be visible on the camera, right?

  • > if the methane is warm it'd be visible on the camera, right?

It would only show up if the methane is dangerously hot (like 400F degrees.) Thermal cameras can see warm and cold objects. But they don't work well with gases unless their temperature is extreme.

If the bare skin is white, then any black gas must be incredibly cold ...like a can of electronics "freeze spray" held behind that person.

  • why is it caled freze spray

    its gas duster stuff right?

and if you were to turn a gas duster upside down, could you freeze a flower and get a lizuid nitro effect?

  • Freeze spray, fluorocarbon for chill-test of electronic components

  • Turn it upside down and it'll create a cold crystalized gas, which melts into a liquid if there is enough of it. It can actually burn you if you hold it on one spot for too long, but its safe for a few seconds, I suppose it's somewhat like liquid nitrogen, just not nearly as cold, and it doesn't react like LN2.

  • I think your thinking of co2, I doubt they'd put liquid nitrogen in it, and the "freeze spray" is that keyboard cleaner stuff

  • i never said they did.

  • KLINGON!!!!!

  • I fake all my farts and my wife fakes all her orgasms. We're the happiest couple I know.

  • That made my day. Thanks. :3

  • lmfao

  • *hi5*

  • @duhCider ROFL, good for you

  • Did somebody really waste time on this? We are "F"ed as a country.

  • your effed as a country

  • wha??? =\

  • yes but let us not forget the methane comming from the human body is not room temprature but rather a much hotter 98.6 degrees or even warmer sometimes so it WILL show up on infrared camera because it is a large temperature variant.

  • > much hotter 98.6 degrees or even warmer sometimes so it WILL show up

Nope. Watch the video carefully, and you'll see large amounts of hot gas *not* showing up. Perhaps if the gas were around 200F you'd see white flamelike images.

  • I think he's talking about the gas escaping from the crack of a human being being at a higher temprature than the average room, or airport. You've got to take the room temp into account too... if the room where the gas is being "injected" into is cold, then the fumes escaping from the hole of indecency might show up as a diffrent temprature...

    also, bum joke...

  • Or more accurately said compare the spectrum of the human body to the colour of the so-called fart. The "fart" is black, while the FLIR is clearly set to a white-hot mode (the bodies of the people are tending toward white). The fart should be in the temperature range of the human body (about 37 C).

  • you stinky fucker

  • what?

  • i see ur point. that is pretty awesome

  • 100.000 euros for a FLIR? cheap?

    is FLUKE better?? explain please

  • Used FLIR devices on eBay are often $2000USD and below

  • This is yet another proof that there actually decent are decent, educational videos on YouTube. Thanks wbeaty!

  • If you notice, the guy in the "infrared fart" vid is standing sideways and you never see his left arm. He's holding freeze spray. Gas coming through fabric wouldn't come out in such a direct stream. wbeaty, perhaps you should have explained your point a bit more clearly in your vid so people will actually get it instead of you having to explain in text notes.

  • > perhaps you should have explained your point a bit more clearly in your vid

I thought I already had! I hadn't imagined that any more would be needed.

It's a very simple and obvious hoax, and the lies are exposed if you know two things: cheap FLIR cameras see "black equals cold," and hydrocarbon gas is invisible.

When I made this video, I hadn't noticed the thinness of the stream. That is supporting evidence. But the key fact is: black equals cold (extreme cold in fact.)

  • It was clear enough for me, but obviously some people missed it.

  • Are there any cameras (infared cameras) that project images like those on the movie predtor?

  • > the movie predtor?

This camera works that way, but if you want a false-color display, you need a more expensive version like this one:

    youtube com/watch?v=_kqftBKWlxQ

  • Yeah that guy had an on fire torch or a friggin freeze spray! LOL It was real, get over it.

  • Warm gas is invisible to IR cameras. If the gas is black, then it's freezing cold. If the gas is white, then it's hot enough to fry the hair off your arm. Their gas was black, and it came out in an intense tiny jet, so most probably they just used a can of freeze-spray like I did.

  • So you're saying that guy DID have either a torch or freeze spray in his pants? I don't think so. He must have burnt the hair on his ass afterall sir.

  • you are assuming they used the same color ramp as you did. i have worked with IR cameras before and it is possible they used it for a different purpose than just for play. their spectrum could have been tweaked just right to see it. it could be real but i cant say either way

  • > it could be real

And it COULD be entirely simulated with high-end CGI. It could!

    > but i cant say either way

Sure you can. Hoaxers only survive because we can never be *certain* whether it's a hoax. But nothing is certain. Ever.

So think probabilisticly rather than in terms of certainty. Enough info exists to make a decision.

  • 1. Youtube is a hoaxer-magnet. Automatically be VERY suspicious of fakery.

    2. A hoax is trivial: stand sideways and hold a can of freeze spray behind your body.

    3. In the fart video, the gas penetrates their pants as an incredibly narrow jet. Is this person some kind of alien? That, or it's just freeze spray.

On the other hand, "GasFindIR" cameras have a narrowband filter and gasoline fumes become visible: youtube com/watch?v=j_NswgZFgzA So was it a real fart? No, because see #3 above.

  • well maybe he was an alien.

  • cold is dark did shit, u saying he had a ice cold fart? mine are pretty warm eg body temp, the black gas is ice cold u stupid child!

  • WOW thats how they did it? =O

  • ok, wtf?

  • youre dumb.. the fart was real.. and HUMAN flatulation has a relatively low level of methane.. COWS are hte one with high levels.. and u wouldnt see it from propane tank because.. its COLD i nteh tank.. when something is released from teh body it is heated.. DUMBASSSSS

  • The infrared fart was freeze-spray, and looked black. (The black color is the main clue.) It also shot out of a tiny hole in the pants. With FLIR cameras, extremely cold gas is black, but warm gas is invisible. Only dangerously hot gas is visible to a FLIR camera, but it looks white.

  • cold is dark dip shit, u saying he had a ice cold fart? mine are pretty warm eg body temp, the black gas is ice cold u stupid child!

  • where's the hoaxing?

dude u look like the comic guy from the simpsons in IR

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

  • "Now it's hot, a bit!" lol. Your videos are very interesting my friend! I love watching them. Very well done! You got my respect!

    ~MATT~

  • thats becaues methane doesnt give off heat.. DUH! only if you light it is it visible cause its INFRARED! freeze spray shows cause its cold! in the words of elma (and carlos mencia). Deedeedee

  • Well just because you understood it doesn't mean somebody else would.

  • Actually, if you look at FLIR's website, you'll see that they have two new models of cameras, one in the spectrum of IR blocked by carbon based gases (ae methane), and another for finding nitrogen based gases, such as ammonia.

    It helps to be informed...

  • deedeedee

  • I love your videos!!

  • cool
