The lion and his cub have quite a close resemblance to the coyote and his cub and their habits are in some ways similar to Big Bad Wolf and Lil' Bad Wolf. Yes, he sort of got the last laugh, but like you said, he's crazy while laughing. So, Chip and Dale pretty much won the battle in that cartoon.
