are you serious?? he wasn't fuckin up cuz he can't perform under pressure...watch the whole sunset junction youtube set...listen to him...he is fucked up on heroin or drunk or something...he used to shoot heroin and crack together! this is good for how incredibly fucked up this guy is..he is one of the most talented musicians of all time
@meningitismetal I truly don't believe they were laughing at him, they weren't laughing thinking oh this guy is pathetic, I think it was more of just laughs to be in good spirits. They knew he was trying, they were just glad to be there with him. Honestly if you didn't love the guy, you wouldn't of stuck around at this show. They helped him with the words, and just enjoyed being there with him. That's what I believe.
I love Elliott's music but I hate this. Is it unfair to enjoy the work but despise what the artist goes through to create it? There's a way in which burning out is never impressive. I need to believe that it's possible to make meaningful, beautiful art without getting messed up on drugs.
Thanks eck, I lost a close friend to it. Have a brother hooked on prescription drugs now. Anyone know what to or recommend, he has to dry out but he is not man enough to do it.
He wasnt fucking with the audience he was fucked up on drugs. Perhaps you prefere your own ignorance, that way you don't have to admit how fucked up he was.
This is the last show I saw of Elliott. It was very difficult to watch but his loyal fans stayed until the end. I'm proud to say my favorite show was at the Palace in Hollywood in 2000. His brilliance shined and the crowd was mesmerized.
i don't think it's sad at all. i mean really elliott chose to do those drugs, and drink those drinks. it is what he wanted. he was a beautiful person. and a wonderful mind.
You know, this is sad, but it's also really touching in the sense that it really shows the distant but very real raport artists can have with their listeners. He not only didn't seem to mind having to rely on the audience (though I'm sure he would have prefered if he didn't) but he actually kept going to them and knew they'd know. And they didn't boo him for it. They laughed it off and kept enjoying his music. Really sad but also really cool on that level.
I agree - I feel the same way about this performance as I do about all of his music...it's heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once. (It's heartwarming in regards to the crowd's support, not the state he's in.)
thanks..

He was an artist and very creative. It is easy to see his condition, what was he hooked on. Did any friends try to help or get him to stop.
