  • if the chorus melody is now outside his vocal range i don't see why they don't just drop the key a little... that would have been a lot more satisfying than hearing him sing such a flaccid variation on the original chorus melody... or is he TRYING to make it sound weary? i can see how that would make sense... the world still running down and we're STILL trying to make the best of it 30 years later! but give me a break... i find it so disappointing to listen to...

  • it kinda sucks how they're all old

  • THEY SHOULD MAKE A NEW ALBUM !!!

  • ANDY!! The silent hero. <3

  • most of the other songs from this show sounded pretty tired out . . . but on this they sound really good. Stewart Copeland really does rule especially!

  • Stop playing your bass like a guitar (during the guitar solo part)...its a bass guitar, man...but I love some Police

  • @bsdickey1 I so agree. Still love them

  • @Auntkekebaby i actully think what sting did was pretty cool xd

  • @RezzKalozzTV I'm just not fond of the beginning of the solo, but I love when he switches it up. It's still all good. Got a chance to see my fav group before I drop dead.

  • Damn that is tight!!!!

  • The best of all, forever and ever!

  • the police: what an excellent name!

  • It's moments like these that make you think they could reunite and make the best music ever again

  • The end of that solo section gave me the chills....

Stewart is speeding up as usual and playing like he's still 25!!!!!!

And double bass? I never heard him play double kick before.

  • Best fucking band that ever was!

  • Da best EVER!

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • During the jam, i figure that Andy is working around some scale or scales. it feels like he is alternating between B flat and A. Do any of you guitar players have some ideas? Thanks

  • @marilynsf he's using several different pentatonic scales linked together, very jazzy

  • @FFXGuitar , thanks, i don't have much theory, but i'm sure you are correct. i bought a Tascam guitar trainer and loaded this song into it, and have learned quite a bit of Andy's solo. it's really awesome what he is doing. cheers, Marilyn

  • WOW! What a KICKIN' JAM!!! This & Walking on The Moon are still my faves! Both songs were sort of our "them songs" when we graduated & were bolting out of the gate with total abandon! We were just discovering New Wave & went nuts for the Police.

Man, what talent... To me Cream always sounded like a trio. The Police, Rush & The James Gang sounded like big, full bands.

Thanks so much for sharing this freaking jewel! Man, this jam got me jonesing to get back into playing again. Ah, the jam!

  • so great

  • Cool to here them jam for a change. Sting goofed more than once.

That little homage to Hendrix @ 3:37 amuses.

  • @TruthAxe and during the Jam Stewart was so tight.

  • The police are rock gods

  • I was there.

  • My heroes since 1981!

  • I always thought Sting looked like Malcom McDowell!!

  • Is it me or is Sting slowly turning into Malcolm MacDowell? Not that this is a bad thing ...

  • LOOOOOOOL!

  • awesome I have been following these guys since 1977 great band

  • At 1:47 it sounds like Tea in the sahara, at

1:53 they are so in sync that it's not funny

1:44 sting is having so much fun,Check out 2;57 its cool sting starts walking the bass. Man these guys are great

  • Check out Andy Summers,(man) Sting was bad with that bass AT 1:57 Steward Copeland show's why hes allways #1 in my book, I think Andy, and Sting was really in sinc. At 1:35 Andy really got into it and this at 1:44 they really started jamming This is why they will allways be my #1 band And Stweard Copeland #1 drummer of all times, This is who got me really into playing the drums, a lot of my drumming licks are like Steward,Great one.(yea)

  • Absolutley right man. and I love 2:02, where sting just does this really cool riff!

Their whole interaction is great, like at 2:29 when Sting and Stewart cool it for 20 seconds and let Andy in the spotlight. and like rickyzinho said 3:22 is really neat too, even hough it sounds so much like Hey joe!

  • I love this song and this amazing band.. but that bass line on the guitar solo and final part of the solo by guitar is very similiar with Hey Joe.. Maybe a copy?

  • Ha ha! yes actually, it's the same ascending riff! I guess they didn't do it on purpose, it's just one of those chromatic scales to get to note you want. I think it's improvised because it's Sting who started it then Andy went with it!

    good to notice!

  • yeah.. In fact I love this song.. but I don't think its improv cause they do the same thing on the Buenos Aires DVD and in all the concerts.. but anyway just a consideration.. And awesome song ;)

  • I saw them in Columbus, OH and they weren't very good, but Sting's bass line was killer

    on this song

  • Lucky I saw them the show after the one you went to and I wanted to hear Synchronicity 2. The last time that they played it was Columbus and they didn't play it for the rest of the tour

  • If andy is so happy abaout his Telecaster and as he says in one train later: I love the guitar, its like something blows inside me when I play, and I cant stop. Why the hell does he play the strat then? The Police sound is the Telecaster.

  • Hey, I just finished that book! haha.

I agree. Saw them in Rosemont, Illinois (Chicago) and was rather disappointed the Tele not being played. I was hoping he'd atleast have a custom shop Andy Summers in his hands... not like I'd be able to tell.

I'm a bit confused though. Didn't he replace a pick-up in his tele? When was that album wise?

  • Yes, if you watch the Andy Summers interview about the telecaster, he will tell you some fact regarding the guitar. The original telecaster has two single coils, but andy's has a bridge humbucker. Its called a "fat" guitar, rather stupid name in my opinion. Cheers mate :)

  • his drum kit sounds perfect!!

  • Un gran grupo.

  • wow! how many people were there???

  • About 70000 -> description

What an amazing power! I saw them in Dusseldorf and I never would have expected that it would blow me away THAT MUCH. I was sure that it was going to be a great concert but ... you just couldn't just look at the concert you've had to "go mad" -> Just Awesome. :)

  • In Hershey, PA the crowd went wild during Andy's guitar solo.

  • they did a good job my all time fav police song

  • Good live performance and song.Zenyatta great album--Early 80's proved the Police's Dominance in music's history.

  • geniuses!!!

  • Ah... you missed the first half of this medley - voices inside my head!

Love the fact that Summers has re-created the early 80's flanged-Strat sound, sounds just like the album... love it love it love it love it!

  • damn song its AWESOME, makes you want to dance!!

  • loce stings bass playing here , i never heard him play so well , the whole band was very tight cant wait to see them again this summer at jones beach

  • I think the Police are running down abit, but they are definitely making the best of what's still around, and even at 80% still piss on any 'contemporaty' rock band around now in terms of originality and vitality.

Also like the Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe 'quotation' in this version. Summers has grown in competence and confidence, and you can see him and Sting are GLAD to be back together even though they probably still 'hate each other!!!'

    Rant over. Any takers!?!??!?!

  • Andy fuckin' rocks

  • ...I'm speechless... This single song goes to show you that no only do THE POLICE still have it, but...They are one of the most talented bands of all time. Summers solo is fucking UNREAL. Tightest trio ever.

  • I agree. Great performance and incredible band. Cant wait to seem them at the Hollywood bowl. But tightest trio ever? There reallly tight and have still got it but RUSH is the holy trinity :-)

  • What about Cream?

  • Rush is great if you are into a band that never knows when to quit and appeals only to a select few of "Sci-Fi, D&D, psychodelic rockers." Cream was great as well, but The World Wide appeal of The Police has secured the legendary status and popularity. They are the greatest trio of all time.

  • stare ... ale jare ... policjanty :D

  • Tight, tight band, what else can you say? Wouldn't it be great if every band had this kind of focus?

  • What is the Tami Show? Is it someone like Oprah?

    thanks,

    trevor

  • Andy is buzzing in this video!! Hes goin for it like mad!!

  • copeland keeps such a simple beat, but it sounds so good!!!

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeh lo mejor perfecto, lo mas grande the police

  • Gods in action!!

  • ... THE BEST version of the song

  • look at andy's strap!!!!

    its south park! LOL

  • So gooooooooooood ...

  • I didn´t know they had played "When the World is Running Down" in Rio. This track of Zennyatta Mondatta is the closer the reach to a Funky style beat.

  • They play this amazing song in all of they concerts in this tour.

  • Happy Brazil!

  • essa foi foda!

    os coroas mandaram ver!

    foda!

  • UHuuuuuuu d+++++++++

    PERFEITOOOOOOO

    SEM COMPARAÇÕES!!!!!!!!
