  • my blue blanket looks just like that

  • Completely, he is not Matthew.... He is Leo.

A 42 year old man is doing like that....LOL

  • "You're going to jump on me! You're going to jump on me! I know you're going to jump on me and squash me like a bug! PLEASE DON'T JUMP ON ME!!!!!!!!!! "I'm not going to jump on you! "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" lol

  • Watch the movie! Much better!

  • your gonna jump on me!!!

  • @robsgotskills I was just going to comment that... lol

  • When you compare this with Gene Wilder's performance, Broderick (great as he is) looks like a cheap imitation.

  • I'm still wondering how Matthew Broderick was able 2 make those sounds while he was being hysterical. It's funny, though, whenever i hear him going into hysterics, i just wanna give him a big hug. N i love Nathan lane's line when he says: "Well, u know wht they say, smile n the world smiles with ya. (laughs, looks toward statue) This man should b in a straight jacket" lmao

  • I LOVE THIS!!!! Matthew Broderick's best performance ever. No doubt . And nathan lane's amazingly great as well

  • I know a lot of people liked the original better, but this scene for me is much more funny than the original. I think its because both actors interact here so well. Matthew does a great job freaking out and Nathan is doing excellent playing off of him with his expressions and reactions. Not saying I hate the original, I just think this particular scene is done so much better and it makes me laugh so hard every time I see it!

  • lol, you can hear Broderick laughing a bit as he screams "MY BLANKET!!! BOHTEOAFHNOADSNHFJKLSNDJKLF! GIVE ME BACK MY BLUE BLACKET!!" I wonder if anyone could've predicted his career taking this path when he started in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

  • pretty lame compared to the original

  • A poor man's Gene Wilder.

  • Imagine if Johnny Depp played Leo... LOL!!!

  • I nearly died laughing at this and at gene wilder's I adore both Matthew and Gene

  • I love Gene Wilder and I grew up on the original, but I think the acting is much better in this version.

  • Gene Wilder is far superior to Matthew Broderick. And I LOVE Matthew Broderick.

  • Hahahahahahajahahajajajajajajajajajajaj I LOVE this video I have never seen Matthew act like that lol :D

  • NO WAY! The original 68 film is FAR superior to this version. It's fun, it's cute, but I just watched the version with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel and I was literally falling out of my chair laughing. Gene Wilder is a comic genius and Zero was such a perfect strait-man.

  • Loved this better. The original bored me like hell.

  • ...1:05. This is the voice of the mighty lion king.

  • his face at 00:56 kills me

  • Hmmm... This just looks like a P***take to be honest.

I've seen both, but you cannot beat Gene Wilder's, version. At least he genuinely looks hysterical. No matter how much I adore Mathew, he can't beat Gene...

  • It's 2:19 in the morning, I really gotta pee BAD, and Matthew almost just made me wet the bed; and I'm almost 14!!!!!! Now THATS funny stuff!!!!!!!!

  • The only reason I feel that this version is better is because they cut all the little things that made the original stumble and even upped the tempo on the delivery of some of the jokes so as to make them more natural flowing and in some cases more funny.

  • Best part :)

  • i know evryone thinks the first moive is better but i honestly prefer the newer one

  • THE ORIGINAL MOVIE IS MORE BEST!!!!!!

  • gene wilder did it better.

  • @AlmightySphroth They both did an amazing job!

  • This looks like a high school play after Wilder/Mostel. Sorry, Lane and Broderick are both very talented, but you can't compete with perfection.

  • I saw the Broderick/Lane version BEFORE the Wilder/Zero version, and while the latter is better, I think many hate this version because of the high standards they brought in from watching the earlier one. Wilder is better than Broderick, but I LOVE how Broderick overdoes it here. Seeing him go from a calm accountant to a freaked out lunatic is great. The Producers is all about bad theatrics, which makes it a play/movie where chewing scenery should not only be allowed, it should be encouraged.

  • I saw this one first, and I laughed so hard because I never saw Matthew Broderick like this! Gene did okay. :-)

  • Very hard to copy the chemistry of the original film. Gene and Zero were tops.

  • I'm in pain! I'm wet and I'm still hysterical!!!!! XD

  • As a big fan of the Producers, I can easily say that Gene Wilder IS, by far, the better Leo Bloom.

But I do love to see Broderick fail like this. I don't know why, but I can't help but imagine that's Nathan Lanes reaction not to the character but to the acting, which is so bad, I laugh simply because it's so awful and how his eyes bug out.

  • Personally, I loved both the original AND this one. Can't decide which I like better.

  • I don't get the how do they find me part? anyone??

  • @MajeekProductions Pretty sure he just means that all he seems to encounter the weirdest people in the world all the time.

  • When Wilder did it the paranoia and stress of the character during the "One Minute" thing and the complete breakdown when his blanket was taken all just seemed so much more natural. I can almost feel Broderick forcing these things. The main goal of an actor is to make their audience believe that the characters on screen are real people with real emotions. I think Wilder is much greater at that.

  • @MoviesAndMusic69 although i do agree that gene wilder's part was much more natural, i actually like the way broderick over reacted to this part because it just made it that much more funny lol i didnt really like gene wilder's blue blanket, even though im a big fan of his and think he's absolutely hilarious

  • I dont get the " how do they find me? " part :/ anyone?

  • ohh this is embarassing compared to the origional

  • Eh, give me the original any day. Gene Wilder was MUCH better.

  • @ariandynas I think this scene was pretty sketchy in this movie, but I still prefer Broderick as Leo.

  • @oloompop ... Broderick is PATHETIC. Aside from the fact he was a sperm when Gene was still funny, which is STILL being released? It ain't THIS version.

  • my freind told me about this he said its "well good" he was right !!!

  • I think they defs sequenced this one better than the 1968 version, although I think Gene Wilder is still just amazing =P

  • Check out the Original 1968. It's so much better. Broderick is not in the same league as Gene Wilder. Broderick is better as a straight man ("Election").

  • 'i'm hysterical..'

    -splsh-

'i'm wet... IM WET AND IM HYSTERICAL

    -slap-

IM IN PAIN... AND IM WET... AND IM STILL HYSTERICAL

  • @ItsMystix Ahahahahahaahah..that part is sooo freaking funny! :D

  • I want the audio of Matthew Broderick screaming for his blanket as my ring tone!

  • love the face at 2:02

lol looks like Ferris just got caugh

  • it was like 20 sec not 1 min

  • Save Ferris

  • Oh My Days,

this is as close as anything gets to blasphemy for me. lol

You can hear that Matthew's trying to imitate Gene Wilder in his how he says certain words, but please give the original film a chance, Matthew Broderick's performance is a fraction of Gene Wilders.

But I loved him in Ferris Buellers day off.

  • My god, I love the Dostoyevsky reference.<3

  • "I'm wet, I'M WET I'M HYSTERICAL AND I'M WET! I'm in pain i'M IN PAIN AND I'M HYSTERICAL AND I'M WET!" oh how i love you matthew broderick

  • @huzzah012 ikr!!!! he's totally funny!!

  • omg its simba and timon sceming to get money from a flop!!, who would hav thought a lion would be the sidekick in this partnership

  • I honestly can not decide which I like better. Mathew Broderick's or Gene Wilder's rendition of this scene. They are both great!

  • My Blue Blanket Give me Back Mu Blue Blanket!!!!!!!!!!! Ha HA love This movie. Nathan Lane Is the Best!!!!

  • I laughed so hard at this i actually almost vomited XD

  • ur gonna squash me like a bug!!!!!!!!!

  • I <3 THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i know a lot of ppl say that the original is better, but i really really like matthew brondick better in this scene. he's freaking crazyy and i love it :]

  • it's timon and simba!!! lol!

  • @ 2:03 LOVE Matthew's face and i just like heart this scene it's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny

  • Leo Bloom: Linus Van Pelt, grown up.

  • not trying to ofend any mathew Brondrick fans or Nathan Lane fans (btw I am a Nathen fan too) but Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel REALLY out shines these amateurs.

  • They come here..They all come here

    How Do They Find Me?!

    So funny! Lol

  • Loooove Nathan's face 0:56-1:05!! So funny xD

  • "Well, you know what they say. Smile and the world smiles with you....This man should be in a straight jacket!"

    LOL! XD

  • i'm not sorry but gene wilder does this better....

  • they come here...they all come here!

  • awesome

  • Too freaking funny! Love it! My fave scene!

  • "Im hysterical, I'm having hysterics!..... I'm WET! I'm hysterical and I'm WET!...... I'm in PAIN! I'm hysterical and in PAIN!"

  • IM HYSTERICAL!!! IM HAVING HYSTERICS!!!!!!! XD

  • I would have punched him until he got knocked out cold! -Sweet Silence-

  • I love Matthew but he came off as WAY to cartoony in this scene. Gene came off much more natural.

  • Best scene ever! Matthew Broderick's face at 2:04 makes me howl with laughter. This whole scene is hilarious…and hysterical. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • best. scene. evar.

  • MY BLANKET !! MY BLUE BLANKET!! GIMME BACK MY BLUE BLANKET!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! GIMME MY BLANKET !! BLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLB GIMME TH-GIMME-THE-GIMME-THE-GMME!!

i nearly passed out from lack of oxygen i was laughing so hard!! the look on nathan/max's face is priceless!!

i also love the sweet little-boy-look on Matthew's face when Nathan's going 'who's my little accountant?' The director said on the commentary he looked exactly like his son when he did it.

  • does anyone know the bust that Nathan lane aka Max is talking to when he says "this man should be in a straight jacket"?

    -kendra <3

  • one of the most hilarious scenes in the movie

    -kendra <3

  • Pause this video at :56! Matthew Broderick's face is HILARIOUS!

  • It's not important...it's a minor compulsion...I can deal with it if I want to............I need to lie down for a moment now...*plop*

  • "I'm in pain, and I'm wet, AND I'M STILL HISTERICAL!!!!!!!!.... This man should be in a straight jacket."

  • hhaha LOVE IT

  • 0:55 is just amazing!

1968 version and this movie version are similar and different in certain ways, but this is one of the moments that puts this one ahead. That, and the comedic timing is just a little better in this whole movie!

  • @Filipeeno I agree! The one from 1968 is very similar, but this one seems to be more well done. I enjoyed this version more, mostly because of Matthew Broderick's facial expressions.

  • this is so much better than the original haha

  • Matthew Broderick's face at 2:04 is terrifying. XD

  • Horse! Pie! Horse! Pie!

  • IM WET! IM HISTERICAL AND IM WET! *slap* im in pain.... IM IN PAIN AND IM WET AND HISTERICAL GHRHDHFHGJGADGA!

  • i REALLY dont like gene wilder in this scene

  • Hmmm....Nope, Gene Wilder is STILL the best Leo.

  • This scene is sooo much better than in the first movie! Matthew Broderick is so natural and he's a lot more hilarious than Gene Wilder. Sorry you 1968 version fans, but this movie blows that one out of the water.

  • this scene is hilarious and i love it when nathan's like "they come here, they all come here. How....do they find me?" i love nathan lane

  • This is a clever reenactment of the original hysterical performance by Gene Wilder in 1969, but any genuine Producers fan would admit that Broderick is not nearly as funny as Wilder and just lacks the same frantic and anxious energy. Having said, the 2005 film still had me in stitches in parts and had a great implementation of the songs featured in its broadway production.

  • I can so relate to this XD I have an Edward Elric plush doll from Fullmetal Alchemist that's really important to me. If anyone I don't know ever took it, I would probably react the same way XDD

  • this is my favorite scene like ever. i love matthew broderick<3 hahah thanks for the vidd!!!

  • I used to have a blue blanket D:

    Just found it recently XD

  • im in pain...im in pain, im wet and IM STILL HYSTERICAL!!!!

  • I'm Hysterical! I'm Hysterical! I'm Hysterical!

    (splash)

    I'm Wet! I'm Wet! I'm Hysterical and I'm Wet!

    (slap)

I'm in Pain! And I'm wet. AND I'M STILL HYSTERICAL!

  • ROFL oh wow, that never ceases to make me laugh

  • (turns to statue in straight jacket)

"This guy belongs in a straight jacket"

  • ajaja i so good xD my blue blanket

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE!!!! I laugh sooo hard every time I see this! "You're gonna jump on me! You're gonna jump on me and squash me like a bug!!!"

  • @LiveLaughLoveYAY I Beg you to watch the original!!

    Its indescribably better

  • Give me the original ANYDAY.

  • "I'M WET!!!! I'M WET I'M HYSTERICAL AND I'M WET"

    smack

"I'm in pain... I'M IN PAIN, I'M WET AND I'M STILL HYSTERICAL!!!"

    lolz

  • Matthew Broderick is adorable. xD

  • I know! XD I agree. XD

  • agreed i concer lol

  • this clip is so funny!

  • Comment removed

  • matthew did this waay better ithink. this is my favorite part of the movie

  • matthew broderick does the part with the blanket better....but gene wilder does the jump on me thing better

  • I'm hysterical!!! .... with laughter! ROFL.

I love Matthew Broderick. This scene is epic.

  • this is the best scene in the play :)

  • I think Gene wilder and matthew broderick were both terrific, but i think matthews scene was absolutely hilarious. no doubt about it, (:

  • wow ive never seen brodrick wig out. he did great! but all in all... i have to favor the original =/ gene wilder is just the right man.

  • well thats what linus will be like in 20 years

  • LOL this is the best part of the movie!! Ahh the pain!!

  • IM CRYING!!!!

  • Nathan Lane and Gene Wilder.

    Wouldve been EPIC.

  • LOL at Nathan Lane's facial expression at 1:01 !!

  • xDDD

    i agree

  • 0:50 I love Matthews little child like run over to Max. LOL

  • Sorry, but I find this one a bit funnier. Although I would agree with you on Willie Wonka, the original Willie Wonka with Gene Wilder was better than the new one. I think the new Producers is funnier than the old.

  • Ahhh I love this scene

  • What a great scene this is. Laughing so hard it hurts... im in PAIN!

  • ughhh gene wilder is so much beterrrr

  • i love Nathan Lane

  • Wilder can do neurotics easily, but Broderick is such a laid back actor this must have been much harder for him.

  • I think Wilder and Broderick just did it differently, not better or worse. Gene Wilder was a bit more accountant-like maybe, and has a wee bit more restraint, but I still like Broderick's nearly psychotic over-the-top blue blanket speech. And the "don't jump on me" part by Broderick is priceless!

But I will agree: nothing can "top" the original. Each version stands alone.

  • yeah, i think original works better with acting and story and all, but this one is more fun. lane is always great, and this is prob my fav of broderick's. he is sooo funny here!

  • i love matthew broderick with his crazy blue blanket! <3
