I liked Travis style better, and honestly In Waves is a bit weak compared to their toher albums. I mean from ETI to Shogun ALL of the songs kick ass, but on in waves there are songs that I haven't listen to more than twice, I hope their next record will be much better.

Well I've fomed an opinion about Travis because I've heard his style on multiple albums. It's still a bit early to form an accurate opinion on Nick with trivium cause there is only one album with him and the band he was in before did nothing but blast beat death metal stuff.. let's just wait and see.

He can't do half the things he did on the record... which I understand... it's touring, you get tired and stuff, but in the first place, you're having trouble with something in the studio, what's going to happen when you go on the road? This band has grown and matured quite a bit; and they take their craft seriously! They are now at the same age as Metallica was during the... And Justice For All era; and like Metallica, they have to adjust to a new group member (Jason Newsted for Metallica at the time; albeit different circumstance). If the new album is a reflection of this stage in their career, it should be a great album. Just like "Justice" was a great album for Metallica in that stage of their career.

FINALLY, this is the first time in any talking about Nick, that I have heard Matt or anyone acknowledge the fact that Nick was Travis's tech. I was in the front row at Mayhem 2009 and I absolutely remember Nick's face from when he was setting up Travis's rig. Glad to finally hear that I'm not crazy.

I am still on the fence about a lot of In Waves's sound, but I will say Nick is absolutely one of the shining elements of the album. He is a killer fucking drummer.

The point most people miss, is that even if travis is a better drummer, there was a lot of shit going down behind the scenes that us as fans dont see. Almost all the old song were the same rhythm, 4/4, 4/8 and then some double bassdrum to make it a bit wilder.. After listening to the 2 new songs I can already hear the diffrence, Nick is more creative in the beats, for example In Waves, the bassdrum is fitting to the guitar riff, that I have never heard in the old Trivium before..

He brung in Nick, and got the band to agree on kicking Travis, though none of them had the balls to tell him face to face, they got the manager through the phone. Which, I think is bullshit, because Paolo also told me, there is two sides to a story.
