  • I'm running 10.4.11.... And thinking its about time to upgrade. :^/

...Any tips? I honestly don't have a clue what to do. I can upgrade from tiger to snow leopard and just skip leopard? Or what? Any requirements? Hard drive wise or anything like that? (I'm a noob)

    Thanks in advance.

  • @mesuhlikemusic you're better off staying with tiger.

  • leoprd :D

  • might I ask: does anybody know why my MBP which I run on OS X 10.4.11 spits out the Snow Leopard installer disc shortly after i insert it? All my peripherals are unplugged from my Puter, no programs open, tried it with internet and without internet ... it goes in like my normal cds and dvds (which I keep testing in between also) makes little noises, then spots straight out without anything coming up on screen abt a minute later. I have both the single SL cd and the box set SL. Both do the same.

  • Some non mainstream printers are not supported for snow leopard 10.6

Check before upgrading that the drivers are available for your printer ....I didnt , now I have a printer that wont work.

  • Thanks for this video it was exactly what I was looking for since I am upgrading my tiger macbook to snow leopard soon

  • Do I lose all my programs if I upgrade from Tiger to SL? Does it depend on the program?

  • @Fianna10 It does but most work in leopard anyways... there are some that are silly and dont work but its very very few

  • If I upgrade from tiger to snow leopard, will i lose my previous tiger applications?

  • @Andrewvv1 yes you will keep all your apps! and settings ; )

  • You spelled leopard wrong

  • Hey how much does the install disc cost?

im thinking of upgrading my tiger to snow leopard

    Tnx!

  • @LeBouriton well the basic install disc cost 30 bucks.... to get the full box set so you can have ilife 09 and iwork 09 cost 170...if you dont need things like iMovie, iphoto, iweb, number, pages, and things like that id say go with the 30 dollar upgrade..

    Thanks again :D

  • @LeBouriton your very welcome!!..if you dont mind can you subscribe to the channel please!!?

  • I have a G4 imac, the "dome", would I be able to upgrade it atleast to leopard>? and then I have a macbook pro that I want to upgrade to snowleopard but do I need just the upgrade dvd or the full thing?

  • @blueboii8246 yes you can update you power pc g4 to at least leopard.... and no you dont have to buy the whole box set...apple would like you to but it so you can experinces iLife 09 and iWork 09 but the dvd install disc works fine!

  • You can also get the Snow Leopard Full Version to upgrade from Tiger on an Intel Based Mac Version (not just the upgrade from Leopard) from ebay for as cheap as $55; that is if you dont want to pay the $170 and more with taxes.

  • how much does it cost to upgrade

  • 30 bucks JUST for the snow leopard OS disc..but $169 for the FULL BOX SET which includes (iLife 09 and iWork 09)

  • NO sir...snow leopard is INTEL only. You can install regular leopard though (OSX 10.5)

  • Thank you sir thanks bro for your quik reply I will instal the regular leopard cuz my mac is still a powerfull machine i will keep it and buy a new macpro asap...Kind regards...Abdullah

  • nope

  • is switching from a windows to mac worth it?

  • yes indeed!.

  • what computer do you have? iMac, Macbook, Macbook Pro

  • late 2006 stock model plastic macbook.

    soon to get mac pro...

  • Nice

Ive got the same one as you but im getting the new imac today super excited

  • oh lucky you dudee....im planning to get a newer mac around christmas..but im in a heated debate with myself right now....

i like portability so i was gonna go with a 15" macbook pro...but i know they are probably going to refresh mid 2010...but i LOVE the new iMacs...and they are the most up to date...HMMM...

  • Ya its a tough decision there all so nice , ur laptop in the video doesnt look like its breaking down or anything, my opinion would be go for the imac!

  • amazing video.

  • thnx guys

  • dose it come with system preferences?

  • yes ofcourse =]

  • Oh Thanks!

  • @DeusExMachinaT75 lol :P

  • do I actually need to purchase the box set?

  • So to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard, you had to pay 149$ right? to get the installation disks?

  • yup because apple wants you to get the "box set" so you can experince iLife and iWork

  • So if i have an old Powerbook G4 which is running tiger right now, can I do i clean install of Snow Leopard? How much would I have to pay?

  • No. You just buy the snow leopard and install it onto your tiger. it works that way too. That's what I did. It worked. Do back up your files, though

  • you buy the upgrade to snow leopard for 30 bucks? Or the new disks for 150 bucks?

  • I bought the single user snow leopard for $30. The fact that they tell you that you need the whole packet to first upgrade from Tiger to Leopard, and then Snow Leopard is false. The reason that they tell you that is because Tiger user have not paid the $100 and that we still need to. That's not true. It will work just as fine if you upgrade directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard. Do back up your files just in case. I didn't lose any files, luckily.

  • hey man im getting snow leopard in a couple of days and i downloaded iwork and ilife 09 for it i'm just gunna put those on discs and then copy them onto snow leopard just incase.but i should be ok right i mean its not that likely that my data will get lost right?im upgrading from tiger also

  • It depends. There is no guarantee that you won't lose your files. Some people do lose them, and some don't. It really depends. I suggest you back up everything just to play it safe.

  • yeah, but then you dont get the new iphoto, or garageband or anything like that.. do you?

  • only a few things change on the photo booth and garageband. but iphoto, imovie and iweb stay the 2008 one. you'll have to buy ilife '09 to get everything changed to 2009.

  • i have a tiger and its intel but it says i cant install the disc cause i dont have enough ram please help

  • what mac do you have buddy?

  • i have a macbook black from2007

  • YOu are awessome! I have been looking for this everywhere!
