  • I just want people to hear the troot

  • Thank God keane ran away in 2002, or we would never have qualified for the knockout stages. Having a miserable grudge monkey hanging around the camp would have destroyed the team spirit. keane was too far up his own arse to consider himself as merely a team player. Better off back in England with his English born cunts..sorry children.

  • Only for Roy we would'nt have got near the world cup in 2002. He pulled us through the qualifiers, watch his performance at home against Portugal, worldclass.Roy owes the FAI or the Irish people nothing,

  • whats all this shit play for ur country and give mick a box after the tournament

  • @ScottishNonBeliever roy is not innocent, he admits that himself

mick mccarthy is not solely to blame, but as the manager he should have made sure that everyting was in order to prepare for the world cup

could you imagine the england team having their camp in low standards..no

the irish fans where angry at the time...even his cork people

but people came round to see he was particaly right to stand his ground for the team

  • out of all my man utd friends, i was the only one who backed roy for wat he said to mick and standing his ground

    and were all irish

  • @daedralord1 that makes you a stinkin turd amongst gentlemen, or just another lying manyoo arsehole

  • @poxrider how am i lying and a a turd, epxlain that to me please cos i would love to her you logic behind your acusations

9 years on and people still dont realise why he got sent home...ill explain very quickly

FAI the cheap bastards, book a shitty training camp

the gear supplied was not good enough

it was a bloody world cup not a freindly against a shitty team

he was the team captain, he gave out shit, he got sent home cos he was voicing his posistion

    its cos were ireland

  • @daedralord1 at the end of this clip keane says "i knew what it was all about" yeh, it was all about keane. there are two types of people, apart from those who couldn't give a crap, those who believe keane unquestioningly and those who open their eyes and look at the evidence. if your manyoo friends don't back keane blindly they are gentlemen and you're just another turd :) or you're jusy lying as 99% of you are glory hunters. you definitely are. 9 yrs on and keane is still lying

  • @daedralord1 im not gona argue on youtube

why does an opinion about a public incident become personal to the perosn who is commenting on the videos

i hope you not from ireland, cos if you are and think the FAI are not to blame then i dont know what to say

and if you're not , well go look up the FAI and look how cheap and amature these guys are

    they are a joke

    End of discussion

  • @daedralord1

I see you've been back since 'end of discussion', and trotting out the same old rubbish. Without wanting to get personal, rubbish is the only word for it; well there are several other words for it but rubbish will do.

Your arguement is, neither keane nor McCarthy were blameless, the blame lies with the FAI. But keane was right to 'stand his ground'. By which you mean cause a pointless fuss about issues outside of McCarthy's control, call McCarthy an English cunt and->

  • @daedralord1

-> abandon the team finally, after several threats to do so leading up to the team meeting.

Well done roy, you really got things sorted out. You put the FAI gobshites in their place, and you helped the team, by standing your ground. Really?

The truth is, keane didn't have the mental stability to endure a month under the managership of someone he had a grudge with. Hence the building up of relatively insignificant issues, facilitating a premeditated walkout.

  • i was one of thousands of irish people tat payed thousands of pounds to go see roy keane play in tat world cup, did he think on the people tat payed so much money to go watch him play for ireland did he fuk, a piece of white trash from the arsehole of cork, look were he is now gud for nothin white trash

  • @inisboy1 You call Roy Kean trash and you cant even spell THAT THAT THAT THAT

  • For an impartial account of exactly what happened leading up to and during Saipan, look at The Saipan Incident on Soccer Ireland.com. It's recommended by Paul Kimmage, the journalist keane spoke to out in Saipan. Not suitable for children.

  • @DubSun33 is that paul kimmage the cycling journo?

  • @thomasoconnor07

Sports journo, not restricted to cycling.

  • @RimRodXS2000 ah so it is the class A wanker who called lance armstrong the cancer of cycling? that guy is a scumbag, wouldnt believe a word out of his mouth

  • @thomasoconnor07

Of course you wouldn't. Anything that shows keane in a bad light is too much for you bollock sucking keane apologists.

The fact is keane chose to give the interview to PK, and PK delivered an honest interview, with which keane had no problems. That Kimmage recommended the Saipan Incident dosen't add or detract from the analysis therein, it's merely a recom. from an award winning sports journo. If you suck keane's balls, nothing will turn your thick fkn head.

  • @RimRodXS2000 my god you really need to sort out your anger issues kid. Never said i was on keanes side yet you go on a big psychotic rant about sucking men's balls(are you subconsciously thinking about sucking mens balls?) I'm opened minded on the issue and anyway this is interview still doesnt tell the full story, its from keanes side and has no other first hand accounts of what happened behind the scenes. You seem to have way too much hatred for roy keane and me for that matter

  • @thomasoconnor07

You want to listen to yourself fuck face. Calling PK a scumbag, and laughably saying you wouldn't believe a word out of his mouth, when defending a habitual liar in keane.

'not on keane's side' Really? You're just another deluded & confused gobshite trying to defend a treacherous coward. Yeh, I hate fucking idiots like you.

  • @RimRodXS2000 fuck face? you are one angry individual. do you talk to people like that to their face? yes i called him a scumbag, he called a man who went through three different types of terminal cancer 'the cancer of his sport' that is a scumbag thing to say in my book. how can you defend that? give me a good reason for that? why should i believe a person like that? i suppose you two go well together, both just call people the worst possible name. I'm not arguing with you anymore go grow up

  • @thomasoconnor07

Wake up you sack of shit. You didn't argue with me at any time.

Apart from trotting out keane's lies, you've said fuck all. A boo hoo here and there when insulted, which you thoroughly deserve for your pathetic attempt at defending the wretch.

Not that I ever expected you to have anything worthwhile to say. You couldn't possibly defend the treacherous skanger. I just vented my spleen on another fool, too lazy and weak to judge his hero for the shit he is.

  • Great footballer but a seriously flawed Northside Cork attitude of: I'll say what I want, but I'll get offended if you answer back! Roy had a problem with the training set-up, fine. Mick (who had gone out of his way to accomodate Roy) wrongly accused Roy of feigning injury for the play-off match. Roy calls Mick an English wanker ... feeling no regret about that, he feels Mick has insulted him. Give me a F***ing break! Two overpaid langers who should have concentrated on the World Cup and Ireland

  • keane legend

  • I'm only after reading roy keanes book and what he did was the absolute right thing to do, maybe he shouldn't have called mccarthy a wanker but mick was baiting him to say these things. Some may see it as he walked out on his country, wrong he opened everyones eyes to the disgrace that is the FAI and i have great respect for it!

  • the man is a great cork man but a SHIT irish man.he is a shite human being and an even worse manager.the only 1s who ever supported him were united fans who most havint a fuckin clue about footbal.REMEMBER he did the exact same with ferguson few years later and looked what happened he was fucked out to celtic. No man is bigger than our team no one and especially not dat prick.4 some1 who thought he could manage things better he made sum fuck up of ipswitch.IN THE END WALKED AWAY FROM HIS COUNTRY

  • I would hate to have been the FAI Training Kit manager that summer :)

  • I have read McCarthey's book and Keane's book and it is quite clear that Kean is in the wrong, If you swear at length and call your International manager foul names you go, simple, and when he did go the other players clapped. He should have had a go at the FAI not McCarthey. Keane says "We were preparing for the world cup finals" but doesn't say he refused to play in the friendlies leading up to them. The team went on to never loose a game in open play, they were knocked out on penalties.

  • @fincaman2 it was the FAI's fault not keane's

  • @fincaman2 by the same argument you dont accuse the captain of your team of faking injuries infront of the whole team and ecspecially to a man like keane that is a massive insult

  • @thomasoconnor07

You stupid fuck-wit. Churning out the same old bullshit made up by the treacherous cunt.

    keane, the fake Irishman.

  • @thomasoconnor07 I have read his book and he never did that, what is a matter of record is that Keane refused to play in some of the pre WC friendlies and did on several occasions say he was "injured" so as not to have to play in friendlies. Mick McCarthy took the team on to their greatest triumph never losing a game in open play.I wonder how Keane will explain to his grandchildren why he threatened to walk out on the Irish team 4 times before being fired.

  • @fincaman2 sorry im lost you read whos book? and he never did that? im being impartially here and can't understand why im being attacked. Please use some intelligent logic, it is not a matter of fact that he used injury excuses like that, how is it fact? did his doctors admit to covering for him or something? and yes that was our greatest triumph at a world cup and note i say "our" greatest triumph. imagine if the team had prepared properly, the possibilties and that is FACT

  • @thomasoconnor07 I have read both Mick Macarthy's book and Roy Keane's, One explains carefully in a reasoned manner what took place and other goes f***ck b****d all the way through. the team had no moral while Keane was moaning and pulled together when he left. We will never know how they would have done with Keane but moral was restored when he left and when his sacking was announced to the team they all clapped

  • @thomasoconnor07

Hahaha. Fucking genius, 'sorry im lost'. I'm guessing you didn't read The Saipan Incident where it concludes the issues keane used as an excuse had no ill effect on Ireland's preparation. And why would keane think that attacking McCarthy then walking away was in any way 'helping' Ireland. What you should be asking yourself is 'imagine if keane wasn't such a bitter and twisted prick and instead used his talents to help his country' Intelligent logic my arse.

  • dead right wit what he did, some respect for the man

  • keane was right, he explained how the day before the holland game the players where eating cheese sambo's, the irish set up was a joke

  • keane is nothing but a bully, he is aggressive and used his bully boy tactics in saipan. keane cared more about his prefessional career and his relationship with ferguson than for his own country, he was never fully committed and rarely played any friendly games for Ireland. Mick was right to send him home, this isnt the type of man to captain our country, what kind of influence can he be... he lost everything it meant to be irish in saipan. what a disgrace to the country.

  • @racheln23 The disgrace to the country is the FAI, not Roy Keane.

  • A BORN WINNER!

  • Tommy Gorman is an awful crybaby, a repetitive gobshite. This pathetic, meandering interview could have been edited down to ten minutes with no loss of useful content.

"But what about the children, Roy?"

"But the team would love to have you back, Roy."

"But wasn't that terrible language to use, Roy?"

"But can you not meet them half way, Roy?"

"But, but, but, let me just repeat the same questions ad nauseam, Roy."

Insanity: doing something repeatedly and expecting different results (Einstein).

  • wonder what would have happend if they followed France example with Anelka being sent home guess well never know

  • keane was dead right, mccarthy didnt have a clue,

  • In fairness to Keane, Mick McCarthy *is* a cunt although he probably didn't have to point that out ....

  • For one of the truths about the many lies told about Germany.

    Google:

The Liberation of the Camps: Facts vs. Lies by Theodore J. O' Keefe.

If you want the facts go to Institute for Historical Review (ihr.org) and click on their archives.

Germany has been lied to and lied about.

  • two words.... GENESIS REPORT......... roy got it spot on, FAI fucked up as usual and made our country into another joke.

  • put it this way, keano said they should have had the attitude that they were going there to win. otherwise, you are simply making up the numbers and if the preparations were right well u never know......look at 2 of the semi finalists....s.korea and turkey....with those semi finalists ireland had just as a great chance as everyone else ?

  • @jay247sniperjay youre an ignorant thick, roy keane is no traitor.. he stood by his beliefs. he is true professional, the FAI is a shambles .. oh but the good old irish dont mind... another pint paddy?

  • @subsoil007 im a ignorant thick lol im not the one hw slags his own people have another pint paddy were you from ireland R britland your the thick cunt not me fuck you and roykeane

  • @jay247sniperjay roy keane is a pro, he demands the best .. once again the FAI let the country down.. they didnt even have footballs for training. let the men talk about football and you go fuck off and sing rebel songs to yourself

  • @subsoil007 i do and i love my country cant say the same for the likes of you FOOL go and liv in britland if you hate ur own people only for the likes of the rebels you would not have a free ireland so SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @jay247sniperjay listen mate stick to politics cos you know fuck all about football.

  • @jay247sniperjay

    FREEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOM!

  • wat a legend

  • @raffael344

Are you joking??? He is a true legend, a great personality and one of the finest players in history. He would walk into nearly any side in history.

  • @theboss2432 how is he? go on explain it please

  • tinker!

  • in the words of brian clough "oh i would have sent him home alright...but i would have shot him first"

  • i don't know who he is and i don't believe i have ever heard of him b 4. but o well, i want to be in Saipan, like he had the chance to be.

  • Legend! The more poeple spout the bigger the legend - full stop!!!

  • keano was a great player but at the end of the day he shouldnt have walked away from us. he made a big deal out of a petty row..i think we glorify him too much ...he should have stayed simple as.

  • @TheDrico13 are you stupid? he was sent home he didnt walk you fucking moron

  • fair fucks to Keane, I completely believe with the comment below, the FAI would rather have their fucking dickhead useless executives in first class plane seats as opposed to giving their teams the best facilities

  • how about u go fuck urself u fenian fuck, roy keane contributed to ireland in a big way u ignorant CUNT, what the fuck have u ever done? fuck all you fat horse fucking TWAT MOTHER FUCKER!!

  • Someone once accurately said..."NO GENIUS IS COMPLETE...WITHOUT A TOUCH OF MADNESS!" Roy Keane to a tee. God only made one Keano

  • cunt...

  • yes, ur mother is one u spastic

  • roy keane is a shit cunt and the comments he made about the henry handball prove that,a fucking gold star prick.

  • what did u ever do for your CUNTry you fucking GYPO bastard CUNT YAE!!

  • Roy Keane is a great character who stands by what he believes a complicated intelligent man I suppose he is a troubled genius. It is a pity he missed that world cup and maybe McCarthy should have handled him better knowing him as well as he did.I am a huge fan of Roys because he is honest and he has a big heart. There will never be a heart as big on the pitch for Ireland again.

  • As I said at the time to the people who backed Keane: If it was Clinton Morrison who kicked up a stink would you back him as well? He'd have been booted out the door so fast.

Keane was out of order. He knew the FAI were useless - it was his duty to put up with the shit and play the matches. He let the team down, let Ireland down and let me down as I had shelled out 10 grand for Japan.

Oh and I was at the match in 94 against Italy - Paul McGrath was our best player. Go watch the video.

  • well said jonathanmcc, fucking wanker, where is his own man management skills?

  • what the fuck are you on about, keano wanted the best facilities for his team and his country, as captain he's allowed to voice his concerns, but not the FAI were and still are a bunch of useless cunts!! roy keane is a true irish man, what the fuck are you ya gpsy FUCK!

  • who is the interviwer?

he did a great job, wasnt afraid to ask the tough questions and got all the answer we wanted

  • Tommie Gorman is the interviewer...He does alot of reporting on Northern Ireland

  • it was the biggest mistake ever to send roy home. they could have done it thorugh to the final.

  • keano hit the nail on the head with this interview....maybe he went about it the wrong way but everything he's said is nailed on! Mick McCarthey probably felt threatened but Keane was right to challenge him...Keano was right...his attitude was that they were there to win and not make up numbers..whether thats unrealistic or not its the right way to think. Keane was just saying what all the players thought but were too spineless to say!

  • So why did the whole squad applaude when Mick threw him out ?

  • @theultimate6 If Ireland had gone about their preparations properly and kept Keane sweet, they actually had a decent chance of making the semis, perhaps even the final. Just look at the rest of that tournament.

  • keane was right. he even confronted mccarthy over the state of the irish training ground at the world cup. if i remember right he said "its like playing in a parking lot". he said the training ground was a fucking disgrace to any international team who would be forced to train on it. and yet the irish football executives travelled to japan in a private jet? keane was right to challenge mick and them. but unfortunately 1 player cant beat a whole association.

  • Keane was absolutely amazing in the qualifiers for WC2002. He scored 6 goals and won the official fifa man of the match for all 10 games. He was a giant for us.

I've never before seen a player give so much for a team

and it hurt like crazy when this Saipan thing blew up.

I slightly bitter towards McCarthy. Why the fuck did he call that team meeting ? A simple one on one chat would have done.

Roy was 28 , at the peak of his powers, we could have done something great at that world cup.

  • no u couldnt

  • Mick had tried one to one chats three times but Keane kept changing his mind as to whether he was going.when Keane walked out the whole squad applauded.Ireland did great without him

  • You're deluded. McCarthy threw him out of the squad because he moaned to the Irish Times about the state of the training camp.

3 one on one chats ? When did these happen ?

Why did McCarthy call a team meeting and call Keane a coward in front of the whole squad.

McCarthy fucked up. Keane responded terribly.

I blame the manager. It's his job to deal with situations like this.

  • I think he was completly right

  • He he he, keane the fucker is always smiling! Cute cork hoer.

  • Denis Irwin

    Ireland's greatest player

    Roy Keane

    the next best

  • i have to agree

  • Fuck me? You'd like that. Go suck Keano instead - maybe he could bitch slap you - tenderize you a bit - make you ripe for the fuckin'. You stupid queer!

  • Make the best of a great opportunity. Go to a shop and buy some footballs!! Get on with it, man! Forkin crybaby. & No you didn't "Accept" that!!! You quit on your country, you quit on yourself! Tosser!

  • "go to a shop and buy some footballs"

    ur an eejit

  • EdPunt - you are the equivalent of irish logic - kinda like an oxy moron! Your the "Eejit".

  • i am the equivalent of an oxymoron? i am two conflicting words occuring straight after each other? well i never.

  • Who got us to the last world cup? Whos still in charge of Wolves? Who left sunderland and Ireland? Good man Roy

  • roy keane got us to the last world cup!

  • "Last" world cup. Yes, your last world cup, and he took you out of your "last" world cup. Eeeeeeeejit!

  • no spain took us out... he merely left. i believe it is u who is the eejit.

  • EdPunt - you must quit. You clearly have the intelligence of a potato (and that's an insult to the potato). Go have another Guinness, and..............Shut the fuck up!

  • legend!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • roy keane thought more of the team than the managment, he thought the team deserved better and mccarthy and his spineless team mates proved him wrong

and this is coming from an arsenal fan

  • mick mccarthy showed we didn't need dat wanker wit the great displays the team showed against spain nd germany. hes a trater turning hes back on his country

  • tough man my arse the wanker turn his back on his country the fucker we could have gone far in the world cup

  • do u know anything bout soccer best player we never had u thick stupit prick DEATH TO YOU AND MICK McCARTY R.I.P

  • i think every must agree roy keane was one of the most talented footballers of all time and a true legend. whether you hate him or love him is your opinion but you must respect the footballer he was.

  • i've read the roy keane book and all keane wanted was proper and professional approach to the world cup finals. he stood up for what he belived in and in doing so sacrificed himself similar to the juventus game, hopefully his strong opinions have changed things for future ireland squads.

  • He let our country down, ask yourself, would you give anything to play for your country!?

and write or wrong, the manager is always right

  • ya id give everything to play for my country and so would roy but its kinda hard when the manager sends ya home. i dont tink he would have been able to run onto the pitch and play anyways. fifa may not accept ireland having 12 players.

and there is no possobe way the manager was right in this case

  • The manager is always right? the manager accused him infront of the squad of faking an injury my friend! he did the right thing and stood up for himself - looks like you would degrade yourself and accept what the manager is telling you even though you wern't faking an injury. muppet and a half you are

  • i'm a liverpool fan to the core.....

Roy Keane is a fuckin hero!!!

  • Roy Keane: A top, top player. A flawed indavidual, but a top player, and he was right to complain about the training facillities and preaperation, or lack there of in the ROI set up.

  • where did you learn to spell?????????

  • im an aston villa fan and i back him

    hes a legend!!

  • I Agree

  • Keano was used to profesionalism at Man United, unfortunately he expexted the same from amateur (at best)Ireland, fair play Keano, no chance of a medal, go back to the reds.

  • Obviously the country is still split over it!! We weren't there, so we don't have all the facts, and I am a Keane fan, but the facts that we do have are that he quit Ireland, he quite United, he quit Celtic and he quit Sunderland! He has the morals of an alley cat!

  • How do you get there? He left United by mutual consent, he didn't just abandon them. He quit Celtic because of injury (how do you make that immoral?) and he quit Sunderland because he didn't think he was right for them. This man is very straight forward, he expects a lot of himself and his players. Apart from some incidents on the pitch, I think he sets the standard of football professionalism.

  • quit ireland = FALSE mccarthy sent him home

quit United = FALSE mutual consent

Quit Celtic = TRUE had to coz of injury cudnt play anymore on his hip doctors told him so

Quit Sunderland = True he knew he was a good manager

get ur facts straight ya big jizz artist

  • he was our best player no question in qualifying for korea japan..but ill never forgive the cunt for walkin out on his country at the fuckin world cup finals for gods sake..a great player, born leader..fuck him though..there is hundreds of fellas in this country who would give ther right arm to pull on that jersey and play at the world cup..why are irish people so obsessed with roy keane.. he is a cork bolloks

  • not being nominated for awards has nothing 2 do with being a world class player .. beckham was a hasbeen and he got more nominations .. had roy keane been english he would be recognised even more ..steven gerrard said playing against roy keane was like getting a 90 minute lesson in football.. Mccarthy going behind keanes back was cowardly and absolutely unnessecery

  • Absolute shite.. he was stabbed in the back by mick.. when mick held a meeting with the players behind keanes back..all because roy highlighted the shambles of a set up in the irish camp in saipan in a newspaper report... he walked in on the sly fucker micks meeting..and he lost his head with the prick..was hard for him to leave but he stood up for what he believed in.. he was accused of faking injury for fuck sake..amongst other insults....roys a living legend... a proper rebel...

  • if roy keane was from dublin there would be a statue of him on o'connell street!

he's the best thing that ever happened to irish soccer. without him there wouldnt be a gensis report, and the irish soccer set up would still be a shambles.

  • his name is roy keane- he wore a traitors hat- and when he went to saipan he didnt fancy that! he didnt play for ireland in korea or japan- hes just a cork knacker- hes not an irish man!

  • Well without him, we wouldnt av been there in d first place and besides McCarthy SENT HIM home

  • a traitor!??...the man is a legend ,a martyr even!,he wanted the best for ireland in the world cup.the best kit, the best equipment, like everybody else had.*the english team*..but no! shitty ireland wanted to put them on a shit pitch with no fckn footballs, the fai are a joke, ever since roy spoke out they have tried to make things better.but have they!!??....dont think so!.what appoint a top class manager,,get da fck out'v her!..JOKE!......KEANEO! KEANEO!

  • well said ..roy is a legend..

  • he never wanted to b out there in the first place, wanted to save himself for miserable fuck fergi for another season making £100,000 a week,to think of all the people who"d die for the irish jersey, but sure what would u expect from a cork cunt

  • I apologise for my remarks earlier in the comments about the "English cunt" thing. I hate ill-informed rants, and mine are no better.

  • He didnt walkout he was throwing out by a big tosser

  • Walk out..he was sent home. How is it people don't understand the difference.

  • Brilliant ending to the first part "I knew what it was all about...I knew" there should have been a god damn fadeout moondog!!!

  • he said he did in his own autobigraphy mate... read it.. if he didnt y wud he himself say he did?

  • yes im afraid you are wrong, he doesnt say it in his autobiography. also mccarthy specifically addressed that in an interview, and said roy keane never called him an english cunt. he also states so in his book. niall quinn also told tom humphries this in an interview.

and besies he is an english cunt. only joking!

  • Mick McCarthy is a gentleman and I have fond memories of him playing for Celtic in the 87-88 season. To label him an "English cunt" was disgraceful and said to me all that I need to know about Keane even if he was a world class player.

  • what roy said was right. the way he said it was wrong "english c**t@ etc was out of order.

  • the greatest player of his era the 2002 world cup was his time to shine on the international stage but mccarthy and the pricks at the fai ruined it, made him the scapegoat for their disgraceful lack of preparation, vision and their total amataur organisation

  • McCarthy is a cunt, Roy is the greatest player Ireland will ever produce, and McCarthy had no fucking right to question his commitment.

  • Roy Keane once said "fail to prepare, prepare to fail."

  • I am a vivid liverpool fan, I dont respect Man U because of the lack of sportmanship of ferguson but my ophinion of Roy is that he was the greatest player to ever play in the premiership and the greatest midfield general of all time, and its a disgrace what Man U did to him in his last year at the club, fergeson is a disgrace, and I think he has done miricles at sunderland.

  • "I am a vivid Liverpool fan ... "

    :o)

    God bless D'internet

  • What about Oliver Kahn, Franco Baresi, Lothar Matthaus and Fabio Cannavaro. These are all defensive players who have won European player of the year. Fact is only Irish people rate Roy Keane as one of the best players in the world.

  • Bren you're dumber than I thought, lad. Louis Van Gaal isn't Irish. Alex Ferguson isn't Irish. Pele isn't Irish. Yet all have rated him as one of the game's greatest players. But hey, maybe they're all wrong and you're right eh? Muppet.

  • Maybe it's because of my lack of intelligence but how does that explain why he was never nominated world/european player of the year, Lad?

  • There must be a lack of intelligence there Bren because whether or not he was nominated for world/european player of the year is completely irrelevant as has been explained to you by numerous people. David Beckham featured prominently for many years and I doubt Alex Ferguson would have regarded Beckham above Keane. Wouldn't you agree?

Actually you'll probably disagree again. Seems like you have a chip on your shoulder.

  • Just because Ferguson says so doesnt mean it's right. If he was the best midfielder in the world at that time then I doesnt make a difference if he was a flair player or not, if he was as good as u say he was then surely somebody would have been noticed. He was playing for one of the giggest clubs in the world and he had plenty of opportunity to prove it. Roy Keane is not rated outside of these islands. I've made my point. U can now resort to personal insults.

  • I won't resort to insultsBren I'll merely express my delight at running into a mind that knows football better than the likes of Alex Ferguson, Louis Van Gaal, Bobby Charlton and Pele who have all proclaimed Roy Keane one of the best players they've seen.

    Thank goodness for the internet!

  • Captain of Man United for 7 years and hes not one of the best players in the world??Get a grip would you? Do you support liverpool or some shit like that? By the sound of your blatant begrudgery you must

  • Read my previous posts. Never even nominated for Euro/World player of the year. I didnt know being captain of Man U makes u one of the best players in the World... is Gary Neville one of the best players in the world???

  • Im afraid it does.Neville is the best right back in premiership history, name 1 better? Also, see Eric Cantona,Bobby Charlton. You denying Keanes greatness is ridiculous. Best player in Irelands history by a long way,on his day one of the best in the world in any knowledgeable, non biased football fans book.

  • Stop with the nonsense please, you've gone completely off track.

Read my previous posts I've nothing more to add.

  • i support liverpool actually, but i can still acknowledge that keane was one of the best players in the world, certainly one of the most influential. part of the reasons maybe for his lack of nomination were maybe because he only once got to play his footballl on the major international stage (U.S 94) which was before he became the great he was in later years. its just a postualtion but it could be one of the reasons, not lack ofability.

  • In response to Bren1609 who asks "If Roy Keane was one the best players in the world why was he never nominated for European/World player of the year?", those awards are a joke. David Beckham used to feature highly nearly every year when he was nowhere near as good as Keane. Those awards are a joke and nothing more than a PR exercise. Louis Van Gaal felt Keane was the world's best player after he helped Ireland beat Holland 1-0 in Dublin and he is one of the game's top coaches. Keane = legend.

  • So the Irish are right and the rest of the world is wrong? If Roy Keane was English I doubt u would feel the same.

  • EVERYONE in Ireland must have watched this programme. Was such a rotten time for all Irish fans and put a dampener on our World Cup. We had a General Election just prior to the whole thing and no one gave a shit about it. Everyone was just gutted about the Keane situation. Crazy time.

  • please shut the fuck up!!! IM ITALIAN AND ROY IS A LEGEND EVEN HERE YOU IDIOTS !!

ROY KEANE!!! THERES ONLY ONE KEANO!

  • That still doesn't answer my question... If Roy Keane was one the best players in the world why was he never nominated for European/World player of the year?
