I hate it when a show goes off the air and leaves you hanging. I love how they just owned it, I saw this when I was like... 7- I think, and I remembered it to this day
What made this effective was that there was no mention anywhere about this show's cancellation. (Unlike other shows, where they put articles in Rolling stone or whatever. ) That caught the viewers by surprise.
Well, when your premiere episode and your second episode air in the same broadcast week and the episodes place 13th and 60th respectively, it's pretty safe to say that the show will not last very long, even if the premise looked good on paper.
No kidding. If going to the taping of a television show is, in and of itself, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, seeing such an ending to the show must have made that experience even more memorable.
I used to watch this series when it originally aired. I remember watching the finale and thinking "what the hell" when they announced their cancellation. This was the first (and possibly only) time a series announced their own cancellation on air on their own episode. Glad others watched & liked this mostly forgotten show.
This always reminds me of The Cosby Show's series finale. During the last scenes of that show, Bill & Phylicia (Cliff & Claire) danced around the living room, then in front of the audience, and finally out the studio door.
I do not want you to take this as an affront, but I have to ask you why you feel it is so lame. Listen, I apologize if you were expecting some violent or sexually explicit scene, but that would never fly by the censors on a 1980s family sitcom. I know that this video is not "Citizen Kane" or "One Night in Paris" (whatever suits your tastes best), but, given the context, an unexpected scene is not going to be that radical. I will not apologize for my title, though, because it's not hyperbole.
Cute and Funny show but never given the chance had it been made later-1988 0r 1989 would have been part of ABC's TGIF

It was a brilliant move. It ensured that the series (which probably wasn't that good) would always be remembered.

Very neat; I remember watching this back then and now 20-some years later, I can see it again. Who'd of thunk that would happen?
