Afghanistan called on Russia to help them with the Taliban and that's what they did, but America couldn't afford to have communists in that country so they started to give money and weapons to the Taliban and (Osama Bin Laden) and build them cave systems to use against the Russians. When Russia found out about this deal with America, they terminated the treaty and went home.

Afghanistan asked for help, and then the Soviet Union decided to invade the country, starting with the KGB Spetsnaz Paratrooper Operation Storm 333, which raided Tajbeg Palace, and massacred everyone there, including then President of Afghanistan Hafizullah Amin. The Soviets then took over the country, and the vast majority of Afghanis turned against the Soviets, turning into a 10 year war that the Soviets finally abandoned.
