Calzaghe had a chance to make up for his lack of what I consider to be quality opposition in his career by facing Chad Dawson. Instead, Calzaghe chose to retire. I think that frankly sucks! He should have stuck around and taken his loss to Dawson like a man and let Chad show what real talent is.
I like Dawson but the way he tends to show uncertainty would cost him with Calzaghe. Chad will get better but right now I think Calzaghe beats him up down the stretch to win a decision.
This was perhaps one of the worst fights I have ever seen. Manfredo should not even be in the ring when there were genuine contenders out there. Makes a mockery of boxing and shows money is the driving factor not class or real match-ups.
manfredo is a very good fighter. for you to say he makes a mockery out of boxing shows you dont know much. He was a good amatuer who fought in nationla tournaments and won a bunch of pro fights before he ever went on the contender. he just is not good enough to win a world title. that doesnt make him a joke at all.

But then you yourself said that he wasn't good enough to win a world title-so what was he doing in the ring for a world title fight when there were so many other boxers around who would have put up a far tougher opposition? It does make a mockery of boxing. You think it was a good fight? Was it due to his boxing prowess that he got a shot or money from his very brief high profile thanks to The Contender?
If anything it goes to show that no one that goes on that show will amount to anything. But we had to see one of them go against a world class fighter to find out for sure. It's no surprise that Sergio whatsisname (the guy that won over Manfredo in the Contender) ducks everybody, after seeing this fight. Although I think a lot of people would still pay to see him lose.

@dratsabREVIEWS I have no idea who those fighters are mate. we have cage fighting but hardly anyones intrested in it. If it started to become big here then more people would bother taking part in it. for now its the boxing we have 3 promising heavyweights all 6'7" to 6'9" Tyson Fury,David Price,Richard Towers all undefeated. Then we got middleweight ,welterweight etc etc coverd. We were doing well till last year we had 6 world champions now we got 1. lol Things are looking up tho! =D

Sure, we have a few boring lay n pray wrestlers, but they also have some guys that are really awesome on the ground like Rousimar Palhares, Demian Maia, and George Sotiropoulos. Wrestling isnt big here either,used to be in the 80's WWE and then British wrestling lol. Have you ever seen 80's British wrestling? Was just big fat or natural big men who drunk beer and ate pies all day then got in a ring and fought,no training or anything. lol they used to fight like mad funny as hell.

Calzaghe had a chance to make up for his lack of what I consider to be quality opposition in his career by facing Chad Dawson. Instead, Calzaghe chose to retire. I think that frankly sucks! He should have stuck around and taken his loss to Dawson like a man and let Chad show what real talent is.

This was perhaps one of the worst fights I have ever seen. Manfredo should not even be in the ring when there were genuine contenders out there. Makes a mockery of boxing and shows money is the driving factor not class or real match-ups.

manfredo is a very good fighter. for you to say he makes a mockery out of boxing shows you dont know much. He was a good amatuer who fought in nationla tournaments and won a bunch of pro fights before he ever went on the contender. he just is not good enough to win a world title. that doesnt make him a joke at all.

If anything it goes to show that no one that goes on that show will amount to anything. But we had to see one of them go against a world class fighter to find out for sure. It's no surprise that Sergio whatsisname (the guy that won over Manfredo in the Contender) ducks everybody, after seeing this fight. Although I think a lot of people would still pay to see him lose.
