@redmr2na I think the river was the dividing line. Edwards was on the homesteading side, the Ingalls ended up on the Indian side when the lines were redrawn after the petition by the tribes.
@MsJams1234 Oh that's right, they were on opposite sides of the river, weren't they. I suprised that I forgot that. Thanks for reminding me of that. That would be true then yes. Edwards was on the legal side, and Charles and Family were on the indian land.
What's up with all the Carrie running to the outhouse shots on LHOP. Once was kinda cute, but it's a repeated theme throughout the series. Still love LHOP though.
Based on the comments in here I think sometimes that Americans just want to kill everyone including each other. What a terrible way to be. Hating everything and everyone and never actually getting any pleasure out of life. Never learning anything beyond what is common to yourself. It's a shame really. Americans could really do something good with all the influence they have, yet they choose to go back to the dark ages. I hope Americans will change and be more like the people in this show.
they named it bunny, but when they went to minessota they traded all three horses for oxen, read "on the banks of plum creek" and it gives u the detailed story, of the ingalls entrance into minnesota, this show doesn't show everything accurately, don't trust it
then she got him back cuz Mr Olsen gave bunny when he realized how Nelly was treating him. But in another episode it gets hurt and they put him to sleep :(
@PUPPYDOGGY2425 that was only invented for the tv show...in reality, pa traded the mule colt, bunny, for the crops and oxen on a farm hr bought, pet and patty he traded for the land itself. the pilot is pretty true to the book, however, almost every episode after was pure fiction. there are a few exceptions...like "town girls, country girls"...but only a handfull of episodes are from lauras documented life.. the show is fun though and representative of the times. loved it then and now...
@whoamanpower Yes exactly. In the book,Pa traded the mule colt, and bunny for crops and oxen on a farm but if my memories are good Pa learnt later that the little house was on an indian territory and this is the reason why they had to leave. The pilot is the most faithful to the books however except a few episodes like "country girls'or "town girls".And the other episodes are fictional that's true but some episodes are funny.I always loved this show even if i like the books a lot too.
They left but then it got bettr becaue they moved to walnut grove. y would u wanna stay out there, it would be so lonesome.?

I always wondered why the Ingalls had to leave, yet Mr. Edwards got to stay. I figured that if they were on the wrong side of the line, he was too.

You're right, it doesn't show it accurately. After all, it was a TV show trying to thrive. But it is a lovely show all the same. :D
