  • It's kind of funny how the last fighter in this game is called Iron Head. Given that Buster Douglas was the star of this game, was Iron Head a subtle 'in your face' to 'Iron' Mike Tyson?

  • Buster had his own game? Never knew

  • Ah takes me back to being an 8 year old kid in front of my Sega Genesis every weeked. I always used to choose the Asian guy even though he sucked.

  • also one time when i was really little, i got to the last guy and freaken lost, got a game over, and i literally cried i was so mad. never did beat this game.

  • i always picked the asian dude in this game. and my friends and i would play two player and "fart" back and forth (the back dash) haha

  • I will never forget the day this happened. My sister called me and said Mike Tyson go knocked out by some guy Buster Buster and I was shocked. Looking back Mike knocked him out in Rd 8 this game was the only good thing that came out of that fight. I remember laying motherfuckas out on this shit for hrs. lol @ the uppercut knockout looking like his neck got broke I remember we would be like fuck it its a rap he ain't getting up from that shit

  • His name looks like "Kron Head".

  • FINAL BLOW

  • i remember knocking iron head with a uppercut ....and he didnt get up cause his head was stuck underneath the first rope when he fell backwards to the ground...i guess it was a glitch...but love kicking his ass.....the greatest heavyweight was good too.

  • I was addicted to this game, used to stay up till 4 in the morning playing this lol

  • Greatest fight of all time.

  • This game was actually pretty good.

  • I wish i had this game bakk!!When i was a lil boy,i cud never beat Xron Head!!

  • Damn, this makes me feel old! I had SNES and my boy had a Genesis. I used to play this at his house every day. I was so geeked when I beat Iron Head! The rumor was that Iron Head was really Mike Tyson under the mask. That does actually make sense seeing as Tyson's nickname was "Iron Mike".

  • I use to beat this game and Mike Tyson's punch out by KO. That was back in the day. I don't allot time for video games much these days. Except Nintendo Wii Bowling, top score 287.

  • EPIC GREATNESS

  • I gotta tell you the truth. I didn't even know this WAS in the Arcade until the Internet.

  • All this time, Sega's response to Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! was actually a console port of Taito's boxing arcade game Final Blow. Very interesting...

  • one of the coolest boxing games ever made. mike tyson's punch-out mocap boxing ring king evander holyfield real deal boxing buster douglas ko boxing super punch-out best bout boxing fight night round 3 urban champion ready 2 rumble 2
  • yeah, I see you thought the same thing I did arasta. Pretty much!

  • I figured this was Sega's way to assert their challenge to the Nintendo throne. Nintendo had "Mike Tyson's Punchout" (which was a heavily modified version of the arcade Punchout!, with the heavyweight endorsement), and when James "Buster Douglas" knocked out Tyson, they slightly modified "Final Blow" (replaced one generic black guy with Buster) as if to say "Sega knocked out the former champ Nintendo, just like Buster took out Tyson!"

  • lol Douglas was lucky he wasn't even that good

  • Yep, I see it the same way, XSX3 :). Nintendo always seemed to have Sega on the ropes, until they were finally cut.

  • Yeah it was Sony that did that not Nintendo.

  • Hehe, yeah Sega probably did have that kind of logic, arasta999 :).

But unfortunately for them, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! still does what James "Buster" Douglas Knock Out Boxing don't: kick ass!

  • This is Final Blow with a different name.

  • Yep, talk about a rushed game!

  • james buster on the megarive was better than the arcade verion of final blow, that game had very bad collision detection the megadrive version was awesome!

  • I will have to try Final Blow some day in that case, in order to compare the two!

  • Looks highly inferior to the excellent Greatest Heavyweights for Genesis.

  • One thing I couldn't understand. Why did the boxers jump in the game when in real life, boxers don't jump, except for dances.

  • Great point, ChiviChing! It's not like this game was made when fighters like Evander Holyfield appeared on shows like Dancing with the Stars :).

  • heh. he wasn't 231 1/2 pounds when holyfield whupped that ass.

  • i use to do this rapid punch and it was like a automatic knock out im not sure if one charater did it or all anybody know how to do it

  • Yeah, this is easier to do early on in the game, tray99998, but the later opponents are more difficult to put away with fewer punches.

I probably should have played the game a bit more, seeing as how I didn't do as well as I should have, beating the final opponent by decision rather than by KO.

The thing is, the game is far from being a knockout, so it's tough to stick with it :).

  • I remember this game. Sega immediately scrapped Buster for Holyfield a year later after Evander pummeled Buster.

  • ohhhhh yeah. damn yo, thats the game where u could make them bleed once the bar went past their faces or something like that....good shit..

  • i use to play this when i was little. Man, good memories

  • Damn kickin it old school
