  • @JosefKorea are you kidding daft punk are the kings of techno that is the worst comment on youtube ok i agree that deadmau5 is prety good at what he does but daft punk are basicly the founders of techno

  • HOW

  • What microcontroller did you use?

  • Looks like something you'd buy from a flea mart

  • @foah201 Wow, if only it had been that simple...

  • is it very hard to see out of that?

  • where did you get the visors

  • how can you see through the lights?

  • Dear Santa...

  • how much for that helmet?

  • how do you manage to walk around blind?

  • they believe they cost me one of those now complete, complete with lights, check and look for Mexican and of course I am living in my country I come not to offend but I have many relatives there clear roles and would like to know cost me one more story cheaper here or there, thanks and greetings ...

  • How did you make the chrome? By some sort of sheet?

  • One more time?

  • Man, I really wanted to buy this. Very well done!

  • I'll pay for it

  • @WHITEOUTbomber8 Aw sorry, I don't even have it anymore. It was made as a favor for a friend. To tell you the truth, I wish I still had it! It was really fun to look at, and even more fun to wear.

  • Pretty damn cool

  • do you sell them

  • how do you make the lights spell words

  • @pivotmaker681 The LEDs are programmable, as the circuit board they are attached to have a couple of switches that you use to choose letters and choose different modes (including off).

  • @skevine76 Umm how did you make this metal shaped for this.or is this just paint?

  • @MASTERBLOXER The helmet itself is a chromed-plastic bicycle helmet. The mask is covered in chrome-plastic sheets, cut to fit over a layer made of illustration board.

  • @skevine76 where did yoou get the visor?

  • too big

  • @deadzilla12 Why, thank you! ;)

  • are you selling this

  • @purdi3000 No, sorry. It was just a project that I did for a friend. I wish I had more time to make things like this, but it's a lot of work and I think my wife would kill me if I started making more of these things (the build process leaves quite a mess...)

  • after watching this i noticed...the helmet looks like it was inspired by Star Wars...

  • how you do that

  • how did you get the shine?

  • @ulmboy556 It's just naturally shiny, as it's covered in plastic mirror sheets that are cut to fit over the underlying structure. The dome of the helmet is the top of a chrome bicycle helmet, so that's got its own mirror-shine to it as well.

  • how

  • can you see trough the LED panel?

  • @norchaaa No, it's a standard printed circuit board that the LEDs are attached to, so there's really no way to see through the thick green plastic. You might be able to see the sun through it, but that's probably the best it's gonna get...

  • Shiny =w=

  • how do u see through it

  • @MrKirbyslayer There's a little bit of space around the LED scroller inside the helmet that you can look around the edges of. The scroller blocks a lot of visibility, but by looking to the sides of it you can still see, but not really that well. You just have to be really careful and try not to bump into stuff if you want to use the LEDs. However, the LEDs are removable so if you want to just rock the helmet, it's a lot easier to get around that way.

  • :D

  • Amazing helmet, you wouldn't happen to have any plans or anything would you? If you don't feel like just handing them out that's fine too :P

  • @JaredUSFbulls Actually, I used the plans that LuchoFunk created for his helmet. He's got a video here on YouTube that he shows the process of making his helmet, and there's links to his plans on that video. I used those plans and then cut pieces of mirrored plastic to the same dimensions as the underlying paper model (I got this method from a post somewhere by guy named Zachariah Perry). Check out the link to my Flickr set to see the whole build and how to merge the two building methods.

  • hey brother, what did you use for the color? its really shiny

  • @seiya209 It's actually a mirrored plastic sheet that you can find in the automotive section at Walmart. It's supposed to be a cheap mirror replacement, but I used it to cover the paper under-structure of the helmet. In the video the helmet still has a protective plastic film on all of the chrome parts of the mask, so it's not even as shiny as it ended up being upon completion.

  • wow nice :D

  • that is defiantly the best Thomas Bangalter helmet replica I've seen, though i have a question.

can you see out of it? if so, how?

  • @TheWillRogers Thanks, I really appreciate it! Yes it's possible to see through the helmet visor, though the LED scroller inside does block quite a bit of your view. It's actually the innards of a programmable LED belt buckle inside that I took apart and just used the circuit board with the LEDs attached to it. The LED device is about 5 inches wide by about 2 inches high, while the visor is about 2.75 inches high. So you can see a little above it and a little below it, but just barely!
