just so everyone knows this has been extended to not just toys but all children's clothes and toys. this means that until EVERY child book is inspected (including text books) by either the publisher or the owner of the books (schools and libraries included). those books will not be usable and will be considered contraband.

my local grade schools are considering closing for a day or longer starting feb 10th until all equipment is cleared to be used.

Well, lead has been found in toy after toy. Do you get CPSC updates on recalls? I do and see high lead content in lines that have previously had recalls for lead content. These lines are still widely available and popular. So how exactly is the free market working? What about the economy?

Actually, it was the natural toy industry that vocalized the need for protective legislation for our children after the lead-laden toy nightmare of 2006- 2007. The legislation was crafted and written and passed and lo and behold, it is the natural toy industry who will end up paying for the misdeeds of the big importers. Many will have to close their businesses due to the high cost of testing. The big boys will absorb it and once again, the little guys will pay.

By no means am I trusting of something just because someone says it is "natural" I am all for testing and if this is the only way to get it done that is fine by me. The only reason Lundeby's Eco Baby is around is to inspire parents to think a little more about the products which we bring into our households everyday and given them some options that have been well thought out.
