Because it's a native animal in their country so they likely try eating it. They make stew out of snapping turtles in the USA so I don't see your point.

Usually people will have the animals of their region included in their menus, like how they eat desert snakes and lizards in Arabia and North African deserts. Thing is you gotta respect other cultures.

I'd like one of these guys, simply for the aesthetic value to my collectors brain. xD He's huge! And his face is VERY cute. I love his fat little feet too. Overall though if he's highly aquatic, I pity the person who has to clean his enclosure.

The bigger the turtle, the blacker from waste its water will be - and the quicker it builds up. : (
