@mrhnm The scope is on a slug barrel (the bore is rifled). So with sabot rounds (like really big bullets) you can reach out and tag a deer out to around 75-100 yards. You mileage may vary :)
I love listening to these gun stories. Reminds me of gun talk with my grandfather and great uncle, always my favorite way to spend my time. Thank you!
@CutlassKnives Thank you. This is one of me favorite segments to put together for basically the same reason. I'm glad there are folks out there that enjoy it.
Mossberg is an excellent shotgun. I went though the same gambit, of putting a pistol grip on it. What waste of time. The pump action, for me, works better with the original stock then the pistol grip type. If anyone likes the pistol grip, then good for you.
Nice video. I just subbed. I look forward to more!
I really like that saying "Pray for the best, prepare for the rest". Another good one is "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."
@NormanMatchem Thanks. That line hit me like a load of bricks one day. It goes like this: I never want to have to use any of the stuff I have for defensive reasons, but I want to prepare for it in case I do need to.
Great story the 500 is a great shotgun. I shot mine one handed with 3" shells oo buck one time and one time only. I put the reg stock back on it. Thanks for the story.
I have one shotgun. A Mossberg 500 12 ga. in carbon fiber like black plastic. I have not shot it more than maybe 100 rounds total. It is sitting behind a door in the bedroom for the hopefully never happens situation. I trade out the shells annually for new ones and clean it on an annual basis but haven't been out to shoot those older shells yet. I guess I view shotguns as something I hope I never need to use. The action is still stiff its so new inside. a waste really.
@Billthesheepdog I hope I never have to use any of my weapons against anyone. You can keep racking the unloaded shotgun with a little oil and it will loosen up a bit.
What good is a scope on a shotgun? Can a shotgun reach far enough to warrant one?

@huttwigley2 Thanks Hutt. I recommend getting one if you get the chance. You can get one for fairly little cash, and they can be very versatile.
