interesting how the virtual reality idea was dropped for a while but now seems to be creeping back with 3d fully immersive tech and what have you..also wondering how importantly we will view our own day to day reality when the graphics and interface of games are as good/convincing as the so called real thing..love watching these vids..innocent times..need to get a delorian and a bunch of old twenty pound notes ;)
OMG - how dated does this look. I went to the last few at Olympia (and ended up on the front of the trade mag there - can't remember what it was called). When Eidos and sony were there it was awesome.
When they moved it to the Docklands, pretty rubbish and then i changed jobs so no longer went.
Was cool back in the day... It's all about E3 now!!!
For me the PS1 is the only console to actually surpass expectations. The first bunch of games were okay but by the time the likes of Tekken 3 and Gran Turismo came out I was like, "holy sh*t, this thing's got some real power". Also worth mentioning that the N64 never had a decent fighting or racing game, despite being being twice as powerful, supposedly.
what the hell happened to the good old 80s and 90s kids tv shows? i blame it all on the increasing sky channels and too much variety, and less kids concentration spans! im 28 now, and back when i was a kid, it was either CITV or CBBC. bring back SPATZ, KNIGHTMARE, TELEBUGS, MAID MARION, MIKE AND ANGELO.....etc
Couldn't agree more. Those are certainly classic shows and I couldn't wait to get home to watch these programs. I'm 30 now and have a son of my own and I can't stand the stuff they show kids these days.
WHAT? PC's had barley any games in 93/94? Hrm lets see DooM II, Duke Nukem 3D, Day of the Tenticle, Need for Speed, Tie Fighter, System Shock, Sam and Max, Syndicate, Flashback, Myst, Alone in the Dark, 7th guest... I could go on all day here.
I remember following it's progress through the magazines from when it was going to be an add-on for the Super Famicom, then Nintendo sided with Panasonic, leaving Sony with the Play Station (with the gap). I was gutted!
I too would like to see VR implemented for games, why not for Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. But for true experience of VR rather than just visual and audio then other senses have to be artifically added to users brain like sense and smell, true I read this on Wiki

the 64 had the power, just not a lot of memory because of propriety carts, so they couldnt shove a lot of crap on them. i think.

You did know back then what you knew back then. Actual PCs barely had any games in 1993/4 apart from minesweeper & solitare.

It's weird how people complain about the price of a PS3 these days when back in the day the 3DO cost a whopping 400 without a game.
