whilst at the same time countries like Malta and Finland have 1 M.E.P for only 84,000 of their population,

WHAT KIND OF DEMOCRACY IS THAT ???

The EU is working very well for Greece isn't it, what with families having to give up their children for adoption as they cannot afford to feed them. Its also obviously working very well for Spain also what with 25% unemployment, 50% youth unemployment. The Euro is going to crumble, mathematical certainty.

I'm not an über die hard fan of the EU myself but consider the world that is waiting for us in the future.

China is rising power economically and militarily. United States is not going anywhere and Russia will not stay down forever.

Those are just the "big names".

If we Europeans don't have fast organization to meet future demands to protect our self interests we might be seriously fucked.

If people don't like the EU as it is we can change it.

@BlizBob Well if that is the case the European countries simply form a military coalition. That's not a very good argument to keep the EU in place. Also the European continent is a big economy and can function perfectly well (probably better, just look the Euro...) without the EU. I think it's all an illusion to think that we think we actually need the EU. We the people provide the goods, we do the actual work and unfortunately we are the ones buying into scaremongering...

When I talking about "protecting our self interest" I didn't mean the US style= bomb the shit out of the problem.

EU would be much more potent negotiator in world economics than a fragmented continent of independent and often bickering nations.

Trough the EU Europe's influence in world economic affairs would be much more streamlined.

The question is that should we all seek 100% self interest or work together to ensure more equal prosperity?

@BlizBob Europe isn't really being taken serious as it is. I don't see that changing. Why would we to be this "negotiator" anyway? So we can put sanctions and trade restrictions on countries we don't like ? That doesn't serve the people their interests plus it undermines the free market principle. So we can meddle with the worlds affairs ? Oh great, let's get involved in stuff which isn't our business at all because we need to feel good about ourselves.

@BlizBob Military cooperation between European nations, fine. Economic "cooperation" (more like the big countries telling the small countries what to do) ? No way. Half a year later Greece will be on the brink of bankruptcy again... truly, this economic "streamlining" is a great thing... yes the EU is truly setting a great example to the world on how to run countries... also it's cool how if some countries mess up, EVERYBODY pays. The EU is truly a great thing to admire, huh?
