Thanks for encuragemnt. Some day...I may do another song
I am still trying to regain the sleep I lost getting up at 4:00 Am to watch the coverage of "The Wedding." Unlike all other world news tha pageant put a smile on my face. .
I love watching this man sing this song! He reminds me of everything that is good and fun and wholesome! What neat nostalgia; I find myself singing the tune all day with him in my mind. This guy has got to be a wonderful grandpa! Dan in Toledo. PS - I was a kid when Jaws came out and it was the first time I ever heard the song. Have never stopped singing it since! Thanks for the fun.
AHHH <3 for this i use ta watch all the jaws movies with my dad when i was growin up was just on the phone talkin about that song with him and looked it up <3 ty couldnt remeber it all now when i go to his retirement party i have somethin to amuse the old drunks partyin ;p
Thank you Sinus. YOU put a smile on my face with your generous comment. I have visited Holland many times and love it. Our daughter and her family have lived there for many years; currently in Hilversum.
Thanks so much for the great comment. Playing music keeeps my brain functioning more than it might if I just sat around complaining and getting angry about things over which they have no control. Keep smiling. Ed
yea man it looks like yur getting into the song i would be too i like old songs im 19 and also a dj but not really havent been to a club lol............... and no problem man
I remember my old grandpaw singing it a lot during the 60's (Ironically he was at home at the time lol). But also heard it a lot in the pubs in my hometown in Scotland during 70's/80's and also popular at football (soccer) matches. Timeless i guess.
Thanks. I have a collection of Irish tunes and other than "Molly Malone,"" which I can sing and play, all of the others require a brouge for them to sound good. I am not aware this is and "Irish tune." I know it is sung in Ireland but, the limited research that I have done attributes it to England. It should be an Irish tune...having spent many thousands of hours and "drinks about an hour ago" in Irish pubs in the New York City area and some in Ireland. Ed
Thank you so much for commenting Richard. I am happy that you enjoyed it. BTW, my first airplane ride was at Flushing Airport. It must have been around 1949. I used to ride my bike there and watch the planes land and take off, Great memories. I enlisted in the Air Force at the recruitment office on Northern Blvd.. Never made it...took u p the uke instead. :) Ed
Nice chord progression. How about writing them down so I don't have to figure them out myself. I used to do this tune, Think I'll start playing at cowboy church. Nice closer.
I wish that I could help you out Merlyn but I don't know all the chords I play. I start on C on the baritone and go to C 7th then F...etc. It's not difficult. I play in the upper register from the fifth fret so it looks harder than it really is. I am sure that if you are a player you can easily figure it out. I play, mostly, by ear and intuition/ Good luck and thanks for the comment. ed
Yes it is "foam." Just like in the national anthem, "...and the oceans white with foam.
I tune this uke with baritone uke strings. They are tuned the same as the first four strings of a guitar. I am in the key of C so it should be easy for you. C C F A flat/F...etc. I do lay it from the fifth fret C.
great song ed ive had a rough couple of months ive been in the hospital for awhile but hearing this and seeing you respond to the coments makes me feel good, thank you , Tyler Mcdowell
Thank you very much Tyler. I am very happy that I was able to provide a little non-proscription medication. I hope that you are now well and will have good health in 2009. Ed
Show me the way to go home I'm tired and I want to go to bed I had a little drink about an hour ago And it went right to my head Where ever I may roam On land or sea or foam You will always hear me singing this song Show me the way to go home hi isnt there like a second verse that goes something like Indicate the way to my abode I'm fatigued and I want to retire I had a spot of beverage sixty minutes ago And it went right to my cerebellum
It's not really a second chorus. It was sung overly intelligent and marginally clever (they thought) U.S. college kids in the fifties and sixties. Here you go. Ed
Indicate the way to my habitual abode

Ive had a little drink about twenty minutes ago and it went right to my cerebellum
Awesome stuff! You don't happen to be able to e-mail me the sheats for this song? It's okay if you don't, in that case i shall just sit back and keep listening to you playing it, which you do in an excellent nammer, if I may say so.
Thanks for the very nice comment. I am sorry, but I learned that song by ear and have no music for it. If you play at all you will find that it's not that complicated. I transpose the chords from the lower part to the neck to positions on the upper end. That is what gives me some flexibility for glissandos...etc. Ed
