My first film of her in a film called Ju Dou - and that was it. I caught Li Gong fever. - I even married a Japanese girl and am still married to her today. in 2004, I was assistant manager at a hotel in Santa Monica.

Gong Li walked in to pay for a friend's room.

I nearly broke into tears when I saw her. She paid - and I confessed. I couldn't help it. She was nice, even though I'm sure I was just another creepy American that was a major fanboy. But i got a picture of us together. Smiles.

In the Curse of the Golden Flowers, there are so many scenes of messy Gong Li albeit decked in gold... why would that be used to present a beautiful chinese woman? A woman driven by strong emotion to do some constructive things appears enchanting; a woman driven to madness... well, isn't really to my taste, I guess.

Actually, IMHO most of her chinese movies are WAY better that any of the ones she have made in "Hollywood". Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about her, but the Hollywood productions. Even though, I think she have made an excellent job in her recent "Hollywood" movies; I particularly love her in MOAG; IMO she stole the show.

Well, I think she's done so far so good with her 'Hollywood films'. No matter how big or small her role is, she's always the most memoriable to me. I recommend you search for a video titled "Gong Li takes swipe at mainland movie industry" (don't let the title fool you, she's bashing them or anything like that), she does talk briefly about her feelings about 'Hollywood films' (including her roles in "Miami Vice" and "Memoirs of a Geisha").

Well,I think her face is not conventionally beautiful at all rather her face has excellent structure/proportion which is very alluring. She is a naturally handsome woman. She is also intelligent and knowing..which shows through in her expressions and vocal strength of voice and anunciations. Further, she has something other than her charisma which is quite unusual and that she has some ability or her face does, to make you feel so moved and emotional when you look at her expressions. Unique.
