Back in the mid 90's real acting videos in games were new stuff, so acting was cheesy as shit. You can see that in original Resident Evil too...so what would you wait from Desert Strike?
But the RE cutscenes were meant to be cheesy. RE was made to be a 'zombie B-movie'. On the other side, at the times of Jungle Strike much better actors in PC cutscenes where available. For example Wing Commander 3+4, Zork: Nemesis or C&C: Red Alert. Even C&C1 had better actors.
Genesis version had great music, but wasnt better than PC version.
I played this game on a Rap-10 (Sound Canvas family) using a 80386 and an amplifier. Wow...it sounded like i was listening to Van Halen's drummer performing "Jump" + chorus and reverb. A blast.
Animations were still thanks god. Action on this CD version is cheesy STAFU
@theflyingmusician1 is it Soviet Strike, man I want to find my CD and play it again on my MAC, :( such a great game, the music was just so good aswell :(
They are using the exact same written dialogue from the Genesis version in these FMVs!!! which is the main reason it appears sooo lame (not to mention the terrible actors)
A great game on genesis, lol kinda wish they had these FMVs in it, but obviously that was a generation away. Still, the video is not THAT bad, for the era.
I didn't know a PC version of Jungle Strike existed and the cutscenes from the PC version remind me of the cutscenes in the later Soviet and Nuclear Strike games and the Commanche also appears in Nuclear Strike too.
After so many British people complaining about Americans doing bad British accents, it's good to see the same is true for Brits trying to sound American.
I love how the attack helicopter sounds like its powered by a rusty bike.... and blowing up Washington DC wont take pressure off of the drug cartels, though it may guaruntee your plantations being invaded by a coalition of the West. Awesome video, zeusgb (5 out of 5)

great deal of actors EA employs, riding on Westwood's C&C license. (Save for Kane, he was always there though)
maksio55 2 years ago
@neilandrewporter
yes it could :p
and don't complain, at the time it was decent enough. The first good actor in games I know was the fella playing Kane in C&C

Exist desert strike with cutscenes too??
raycool 3 years ago
The PC version of Desert Strike has the usual scenes from the Mega Drive/Genesis version.
zeusgb 3 years ago
The difference is that the Comanche at the title screen is black instead of beige. And the scenes are live action instead of frame by frame motion.

Nevertheless---that was a good game, and hard! Some levels took me a long time to beat, even with the Razor 1911 ammo trainer.
00bean00 3 years ago
I think "underacted" might be closer to the truth.
I had the MS-DOS version; no music or sound, and the animations were stills---which allowed you to create voices for the characters in your own head.
