  • This guy obviously can't tweek this amp properly, because you can get a really clean tone if you tweek the knobs in the "right" way

  • i have one. $500 shipped off e-bay. been playing for 36 years. my search is over. this amps the absolute shit!!!!!

  • I would get this over a Marshall JCM combo anytime.

  • the 6505+ or the Valveking?

  • @FEAROWNAGE 6505+ i payed 999$ for mine but it is worth it you will get close sound to a 5150 its worth every penny

  • @darkwisher831 6505+/6505 is the same thing as 5150/2

  • @FEAROWNAGE Peavey 6505 but your not comparing amps in the same price range.

  • the clean channel is fine if u use some fx...not just a great metal amp, also great for rock, hard rock, and blues....best amp for the money, especiaaly the head and this combo

  • Just want to put this out there for all you bedroom players, this amp sounds FANTASTIC at bedroom levels. I got mine a week ago and play it at volume 1 and it sounds perfect. Not much different than when it is cranked up. I don't notice a difference at all to be honest. Over all it has a great ballsy natural tone to it. I'll probably get an effects unit for it soon as for adding chorus etc... but this amp on its own is amazing. And it is PERFECT for home use no question about it !!!!

  • @TigertailzBezerk Absolutely true. I'm currently forced to play at bedroom volumes and it does sound amazing at lower volumes (I would like to crank it up for a change though) Man he makes it sound amazing as well. I run a maximizer through the effects loop and an overdive up front with the gain rolled down to thicken the tone a little, but I'm a real audiophile!!

  • @TigertailzBezerk Is it gig worthy with it's metal tone?

  • I live in an apartment right now and I have this amp, I play it all the time and it sounds great at low volume

  • Why don't chage teh guitar to a strat too? I mean.. in every review there is only one guitar to test.. but there is huge differences between Humbucker and Single Coil pickups..

  • can i use this amp with earphones?

  • he needs to demo this like he demos Engl!!!

get more chug chug riffs in there and some shreddage.like MY demo

  • I hear palm muting in there... open up your ears.

  • This amp is meant to be used by Metal Heads, you know why? It is famous for being Heavy as Hell. The clean channel is not that great. But is is probably the most heavy combo amp money can buy. All the "other" digital amp modeling combo's don't even compare. It has MASSIVE gain to satisfy Metal Players, that's why he SHOULD palm mute and show us the real goods of this baby....what it is meant for

  • does it come with its own footswitch?? if not how much are they?

  • I was really dissapointed at this amps clean channel at first, but I have got it now so it is actually usuable for funky kind of stuff, love this amp.

  • I think people have forgotten that the 5150 (which is what the 6505 is, pretty much) was designed for EDDIE VAN HALEN. Yes, the amp can definitely do metal. It can also do a lot more, as well. It's not JUST a metal amp.

  • he really shouldnt demo metal amps...

  • @DemmelitionMan95 He's doing a demo of a guitar amp(< key words here) that metal players use. There's a difference :P

  • @DemmelitionMan95 Why? still sounds awesome lol. He probably has the gain turned to like 3 lol

  • Either thats a massive amp or he's tiny.

  • Not the best review for metal, but it really shows how versatile this amp is.

  • Hmmmm.....this thing with with seventy-80 and an extension cab with a G12T-75 might be just the ticket for the high-gain rhythm stuff my Classic 30 doesn't quite cover. Already got the speakers and more extension cabs than I know what to do with, so maybe I should hold off on ordering a Krank Rev Jr and give this a shot instead.

  • peavey amps have a warm distortion

  • If you look on my channel at the vai style take 2, you can here what the micsim on this amp sounds like!!

  • 3:12

    You're welcome.

  • Is the first thing he plays in the clean channel?

  • this guy has the best job ever.

  • I want this amp bad has always been my favorite Peavey

  • OMFG!!! I FUCKING LOVE THE SOUND IN 3:12 to 3:36 !!!

  • this amp can make the same sound than evh. I have it and it sound awesome

  • How does it work with distortion pedals? I have a Boss ML-2 distortion. does it make sense to combine it with this amp?

  • is this amp too loud for a bedroom??

  • @PatrikSWE95 I was reading guitar center reviews and a lot of people said it was perfectly fine in small quiet places. Hopefully this helped

  • @PatrikSWE95 Not at all, just keep the master on the low side, and you'll be rocking!

  • @PatrikSWE95 depends.. the bedroom in an apartment building or a house.. You could probably get away with it in a house.. but because it is a tube, you have to turn up the volume to get a decent sound from it.

  • @PatrikSWE95 Yes

  • @PatrikSWE95 nahh

  • that is a great sound, not a bad price.

  • Here's the deal on this amp, unhook the internal speaker from the amp and hook up to a 412 cab of your choice and let it rip! On the other hand this amp sounds killer at low volumes also with the internal speaker.

  • @devilman60 thats exactly how my peavey ultra 112 is, i think a lot of peavey amps are similar to one another

  • He has the best job in the world

  • He is a very small man.

  • can you remove the back panel covering the speaker?

  • should i buy this amp or the line 6 hd500?

  • man that thing sounds nice for old style metal like Dokken or Van Halen, and new stuff too. with a usable clean channel, that things sick...

  • This thing is a tank... 61.29 lbs or 27.8 kg... lol !!!

  • @WapServices yeah but its bulletproof literally and metaphorically

  • could this amp overpower a very hard playing, loud drummer?

  • nice amp

  • how is the noise on it? do you need a supressor?

  • @Lebhel You could lower it's wattage if it got too loud.

  • can you play club gigs with this?

  • @espuser3 Definitely.

  • @ibanezman007 haha nice username, my xbox live name is ibanezman1609

  • @espuser3 Most definitely .

  • @espuser3 If the club has a house PA, you could gig with a little 30 watt combo.

  • @goheklikaplunco Yeah I know someone who gigs with a 5watt!!

  • You can just hear that this amp's gain is being held back by a string... it sounds like the amp wants to just blow up with gain.

  • @WeaselNub If it suppresses an amps tone, it must be an ernie ball string! Just kiddin I got your metaphor, but string related humor is my specialty.

  • its not right that someone as camp as him is playing metal :/

  • yea real interesting sound from an amp that is built for metal really

  • I've got one and play it in a praise team at church. It can be a beast but it can be controlled. I even use it in a Country band.

  • I found out that this amp is made in China! I was told by the folks at G.C. that it was made in the U.S.A.. Therefore, i canceled my order. If the price goes down, I'll buy it (Maybe). Because of our economy, I'm more prone to buy American products (Regardless of price). Keep Capitalism alive! Keep Rock'n America. Rock on!

  • why don't they get a dude that can play more than one style, and not only use active pickups, and delay all the time?

  • Paul rules!

  • now that I finally have ajob i think Im going to save up for this

  • he makes it so not metally sounding lol

  • @audiedrdoom bullshit. just because he isnt playing breakdowns and palm muted shit doesnt mean it aint metal. in fact, hes playing the very same brand of metal as the guitarist that helped design this amp, eddie van halen. i hate it when people think that this amp is meant to be used by cookie cutter "core" bands.

  • @HBK1337

    This.

I remember when metal meant stuff like Ozzy Osbourne,Judas Priest, and Megadeth and not the mallcore that is now called metal. Which brings to mind. Get off my damn lawn you kids!

  • @HBK1337 he means modern metal, this amp was DEISGNED for modern metal, not eddie van halen metal or whatever, trust me i own one and you can't get a decent rock tone on it. but you get a killer metal tone.

  • @audiedrdoom yeah he tends to play a more 80's style

  • his damn voice annoys me

he'd sell more if they used speech balloons

    but the amp rocks anyway

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • @Sephiroth78941 a carvin

  • @Sephiroth78941 Carvin CS6, in Deep Orangeburst finish, abalone block inlays, mahogany neck and body, etc.

  • @Sephiroth78941

I believe that's a Carvin, but you might want to look it up yourself

  • @PhilipDick2008 no i, it sounds very compressed and wierd on the high strings at low levels. When the volume hits 4-5 it becomes totally amazing. I own it. It sounds nothing like the video. Much better, especially cranked

  • @dsl100stack i have a question bout the amp ;) is it possible to get distortion from the rythm channel? and can you activate the crunch button with the FS?

  • @dsl100stack Yea, I know. I just ordered mine today from zzounds.com. I finally got the opportunity to get this awesome amp. This amp has the balls of a rhino on extra strength steroids! Here locally, it is one of G.C's favorite combo amp to play on. The sound is thick and sick!

  • It's 40kg =O

  • @bulger2504 actually it´s 29kg =O

  • does it sound good at low volumes?

  • @PhilipDick2008 tubes sound better the louder they are so, does it sound good? yes but does it sound great quiet? no becuase its a tube so louder=better tone/sound

  • @PhilipDick2008 tubes sound better the louder they are so, does it sound good? yes but does it sound great quiet? no becuase its a tube so louder is better tone and sound with this one

  • @PhilipDick2008 I don't remember who makes it but you can get a volume box that plugs into your FX loop so you can krank you amp so it will sound better and the tubes will break up but then you can turn down the box so it's high volume quality at a low volume

  • @bigcatroberts tons of ppl

  • @PhilipDick2008 im just home from testing the 112 combo, and im VERY impressed! I played at bedroom levels, and the tone was great! also the clean was surprisingly clean:) and ofcourse the lead channel sounded awsome! i am VERY impressed with how good it sounded at the low volumes!

    greets from the netherlands!

  • wow - either this is a huge amp, or Paul is about 4'2" tall... LOL

  • i am really thinking about buying this amp but is it better than a marshall jcm 2000 dsl 401? i play a lot of rage against the machine but i also like indie stuff.

  • Will this sound good at a low volume?

  • @SonicGamer1991

No, i own one and you need to crank the tubes for the amp to work properly !

I've not tried it in the rehersal room yet, but in my room if i go past 3 on the knob i will blow out the windows. It's a really loud amp !

But stil, it's is really good, you dont need more than these 60W to get the metal tones or dist, but if you want more.. Throw a tubesreamer infront in your signal chain and you will have dist for sure !

  • Jesus christ, that is a big ass son of a bitch

  • is that an amp or a closet ?

  • @mindwalkr ahahaha

  • Is this amp good for metallica, children of bodom and iron maiden

  • peavey 6505+ with cab mesa probably the best stack you can have for almost any metal style if you like a more trashy sound go with a 5150 or 6505

  • I'm torn between this and Kustom Defender 50 watt. Played on of these at GC and was impressed. I'm waiting until they get a Kustom Defender in for comparison.

  • Just incredible sounds!!! i got a classic 30,and i love peavey amps!

  • best job ever

  • If i play live with a full band playing metal style music will it sound strained at those levels?

  • @ThrashBroncoZ absolutely not, since it's a full tube amp it will actually bring out even more tone and sound even better at higher volumes. Just remember to turn your gain down as your volume goes up. hope that helps

  • @trizzlemynizzle69 You'll actually want to turn up your gain at louder volume because it will dissipate.. well I guess thats if youre playing a live show.

  • does this amp has the same sound of the 6505+ 212??

  • @Torqueofficial same sound? in theory yes but considering this one has only 1 speaker it will have less pjuunch than the 212 although theyre both same wattage

  • Just got this amp and it is a monster... and for anyone who is wondering if it's loud enough, let me tell you something... If this amp isn't loud enough for you then congratulations because you must be playing outdoor arenas. IT'S LOUD

  • I like the vids paul make, but some idiot put too much gate on the sound. Its so fucking annoying and makes it sound bad! Dont use the gate if u dont know how to set it up propperly!

  • dassa nice guitar...

  • Is it just me or does that amp look way too fucking huge to be a combo, or maybe the player is just small-I dont know

  • Peavey is in my opinion #1 for metal. I too had the 120 watt head. I was going to buy the 112 version, and was very disappointed to hear that they were made in China. But so is the Valveking and the Windsor.I'm sure it still sounds great.

  • Is this going to get me good Metal tones with the ESP LTD M-300 FM? It has active emg 81's and is neckthrough construction.

  • @varulv234 ESP makes metal guitars, EMGs are metal pickups, and this amp is a gain beast. You'll be WAY set.

  • if you are buying this amp, you're obviously buying it to play metal with, so I'm going to save you time by saying just skip to 3:11 if you want to hear what this amp actually sounds like

  • why is the Peavey 6505+ 1x12 less than half the price of the Peavey 6505+ 2x12 ?????

  • @MRWHITE3535 Less wattage, 212 is 100 watts. 112 is 60 watt

  • what guitar?

  • Just the size of this amp scares me.

  • @Brett21794 in which way ? it is too big? but look hes a oompaloompa xDDDDD

  • they could have atleast put some handles on the side. it looks heavy as fuck

  • normally im disappointed with guitar world reviews... but this was incredible

very, very impressed with the sound through youtube even

  • This guy has a nice taste in bends.

  • does anybody else think he looks like a condor?

  • How well does this thing perform next to a valveking 212?..I'm considering selling my valveking in favor of this..any demonstrations?

  • How is is for gigs? I play metal with a loud drummer.

  • it sucks that there's no footswitchs included with this amp

  • it looks big xd

  • Why does this great sounding amp, cost a fraction of the price of the head version????

  • @MRWHITE3535 Made in China.

  • wow, no one has answered my question!! i asked if the 6505+ 112 comes with a footswitch?

  • @UnconciousHippie No, it doesn't. Sorry if my answer is too late, but I tried.

  • @UnconciousHippie Nope, unfortunately. However, the ValveKing footswitch works with it, and it's only cheap, so it's not really a big problem.

  • I love this amp!!

It sound incredibly good and have a nice tone...i hope to get one someday...

  • Nice tone!

  • great amp, incredible sounds.

you dont have to mic it up even though we have... lol

  • any one know if you could hook this up to a amp cab?

  • @Darkdevil1584 Yes.

  • is this mainly for metal or can it do lighter stuff like alternative

  • @bobs146 There are better choices for alternative in that price range. The Vox AC15C1, and Peavey Classic 30 are good choices.

  • @TMF58 he's right. I tried both the tube screamer and the Metal muff on the Vox AC15 and I could get heavy distorted tones. I was playing metal stuff like Testament Megadeth, etc, and some more modern sounds out of it. And the plus is that it was made to be a blues/classic rock amp, so shit like SRV, John Mayer Trio, Hendrix etc is all going to sound amazing on that amp. This amp is great tight end, but I think the clean sounds dead compared to the AC15

  • @punkmusicmetal well i think its harder getting a clean tone because u cant get cleans with pedals but there is pedals that can sound better than amp distortion sometimes but this amp is awesome

  • not sure how "light" this really is lol. sounds good though

  • @hetfield2x4 haha i hear its about 60 pounds!

  • @hiian123 thats light if you compare it to cabnets that can reach similar volume

  • what's better this or the vypyr

  • @JohnH216 I hope ur joking! This is way better for metal and hard rock but i wouldnt recomend it for classic rock and blues.

  • @JohnH216 this is all tube the vypyr its a hybrid of tube and solid state. it all depends on what sound you are going for the 6505 is the 6505 but the vypyr has 12 different amp styles in it like a krankenstien and deizel setting and just about every peavey amp but it doesnt sound as natural as the 6505

  • An absolute Bargain! I'm ordering one Now!

  • Seriously awesome sounding 1 x 12 tube combo! I regularly use the Peavey 5150ii (6505+) head powering 2 Peavey 4 x 12s and I love it, but that being said, for a light, loud, easily transportable amp in the future, I'm thinking this one's the way to go. Phenominal tones!

  • is paul playing a PRS?? i cant tell. any one know?

  • @phoenixforce22 Actually, it's a Carvin. Nice looking guitar, but I'm not a fan of the headstock!

  • @phoenixforce22 yeah u can tell be headstock...the prs is like the schecter. (actually schecter replicated the prs headstock)

  • @phoenixforce22 I think its a custom Carvin.

  • Do you guys know if this amp is good for playing stuff like Bullet for My Valentine and/or Killswitch Engage

  • @Threedaysgraace13 yeah this amp is mad for metal like killswitch and bfmv! Even though killswitch use mesa's this amp is perfect for that sound! Machine head, trivium, bfmv, in flames and carcass use this amp

  • @Threedaysgraace13 perfect metalcore amp :)

  • @Threedaysgraace13 yes it is

  • this amp can get way heavier and more metal than what paul is showin- phil demmel, rob flynn, and matt tuck use this amp.

  • Look at the captions at 2:18

  • Would this give me the exact tone of the 6505+ head, which is made in USA, or due to the fact it is made in China, will there be a compromise in tone and quality?

  • Me like, Me like alot....

  • is this amp footswitchable?

  • I have one for sale $500 NYC area message me!

  • this or the valveking 212?

  • @rockyinahard this rapes the valveking lol

  • @knowthetruth2: It's also a good deal more expensive...

  • @knowthetruth2

Dude yeah, I'm selling my valveking to get a 6505

  • I'm asking myself the same question. I have a VK212 (check my youtube video, i use it there) right now, but i'm doubting if i should switch it for this 6505.

  • @Behindspace90

If your using minimal gain the VK is just fine but if your a high gain junkie like me than the VK is really a wannabe 6505

  • @Behindspace90

If your using minimal gain the VK is just fine but if your a high gain junkie like me than the VK is really a wannabe 6505

  • @Behindspace90 If your using minimal gain the VK is just fine but if your a high gain junkie like me than the VK is really a wannabe 6505
