The spoter is half of the team and the Sniper needs that part of the team at long distance engagments, so both of them would try to get out of the area. They would also have a weapon that was better suited for closer engagments like an M16A4 or M4. In this situation though you are so far away and the "insugents" had to deal with the Marines in the town that most of them would only hear the shot and have no clue where it came from let alone take the time to find it.
