This is really a beautiful job. My cabin was much bigger than this but the stove was about the same size. It was never cold, but pleasantly brisk in the NE PA mornings before I woke up enough to stoke it. Sometimes I think the stove manufacturers tell people they need more stove than is necessary.
Thank you. The fireplace was a gift. I only used it last winter and since I did not have the walls insulated, it didn't keep very warm. By the next season, we'll be ready. I can't wait. Texas summers are brutal.
I am also considering building a 20x20ft, for less than 5,000, I have as much as 10,000, but have so far kept it under 5,000, without the woodstove,and pipe..etc...
What did you use as the rain barrier,and is that metal roofing cheaper than shingles, and if so by about how much...? Thanks..I noticed that you didn't use any plywood,or osb on the roof...
Metal roofing is more expensive than shingles as an initial outlay, but cheaper in the long term. Metal lasts longer for one thing, as well, it is easier to install, and finally it has a reflective value that composite does not have, thus makes cooling the cabin more efficient. You noticed that I did not use any sub-roofing material. That is because the metal is strong enough to stand on and doesn't need OSB below as a structural support. btw, this roof was around $1100.
nice

There is no problem cutting through a structural floor joist? Thanks for the vid, looking forward to having a cabin of my own some day...

@Rocky1765
It's not a problem as long as you pick up the load by transferring it to the adjacent joists. Thanks for watching.

Good luck with that. The nickel and dime stuff has a way of adding up real fast.

Wow!
That is craftsmanship!
I had to laugh when the fit for the box was so good that it just stayed there.
Excellent job.
