Choose a character (check SWF for specifics). Go over kirby (again, kirby is one of the few that work but there are specifics. I know Falco works so choose falco and then hover over kirby) Don't pick Kirby but hover and then go to white kirby. L+R+A+Start. When you go back, you should have a different icon (Yoshi, Kirby or someone else). SWF Melee section has all the specifics as to who it works with and stuff. It's a pretty rape glitch. :D

Kirby glitch.

Select a character, move the selection icon over to Kirby but don't actually select Kirby, press Y once (Kirby should turn white), then L+ R + start reset. Stock icon changes depends on the character. Peach and Marth are Kirby, Falco turns into blue Yoshi, and I haven't tried with other characters, but play around with it it's fun :)

First of all, tiers mean plenty, and secondly, the reason why he picked Pikachu in these two matches is because Pikachu is a counter to Peach and Falcon, not because he gives a shit about tiers.

@WolfSyn Maybe not a "counter" matchup (excuse my vocabulary), but Pikachu does significantly better against Peach than the Ice Climbers do, or at least most of Pika's matchups vs the higher tiers. Chu never picks ICs against Cort because he's never beaten Cort using them.

@xAfterDawnx Tiers do generally have pretty good insight, but it's still speculation. It's no different than anyone else's opinion, tiers are nothing written in stone.

For example, at the last EVO (Arguably the biggest fighting game tournament in the world) a Zangief player (SnakeEyes) won the Street Fighter 2 HD Remix tournament. Zangief is considered the worst character in that game according to tier charts. I'm not even talking low tier, I talking dead bottom, last place.

Like I care if I'm a nobody, Makes no difference. Tier lists in melee is doo doo trash. Low tiers can make it to the top, What if the tier lists are wrong? Proven wrong I mean? What if some low tiers are really middle or High tiers but no one has found out how yet? You all forgotten that the tier lists change from time to time. Because of this, they don't mean a thing.

it's not if you care or not. it proves that you cannot do well as young link. you ask what if they're wrong. well, unless you can provide proof, they are accurate. and what if gravity turns out to not exist? the same logic applies. it is accurate until proven otherwise.

tiers exist to show the total matchup considerations at equal skill naturally, at the top there will be low tiers for those players with higher skill. yeah, the tiers evolve, but it's not as if it's by very much.

Half of what you said is true but you haven't seen my Young Link in action yet. I haven't been on tourneys for a VERY long time so I can't seem to prove myself yet.

Tier lists are simple opinions with a couple of basic facts. Some of the tier lists are proven wrong and that's why it's been changed from time to time. I don't believe in Tier lists at all for that simple fact not only that but it's a let down for a lot of people.

Tier lists don't change because they are proven wrong, they change because new techniques, tactics and overall strategy are added to the current metagame.

If a character doesn't have anything new to add to the metagame, then it seems that character remains static while those above him get better and better.

When you understand this, then it should be obvious that it's impossible not to accept the tier list. Because all it shows is who CURRENTLY has the most beneficial set of techniques.
