  • Im a new epipen user too, just one today. Useful vid - thanks v much :)

  • It would hurt a lot more to asphyxiate

  • I just got my EpiPen today.. this video was extremely helpful. But I also was told that you can swing your arm and then inject it to the outer thigh that way too.

  • im a kid and just got an epipen for my severe allergies in summer but im scared to use it cause i saw the needle and it looks like it would hurt

  • @ssfourvegeta If your throat's swelling shut, I don't think you'll care if it hurts or not..

  • dose it hurt

  • @keenrocks OMG YES IT'S HURTS SOOO BAD

  • He forgot to mention the needle is fucking huge...

  • @Duckman1616 Yeah, its huge but its so sharp that can't fell it.

  • @spenceraperry I'm not buying it. I've been cut by very sharp things before and it hurt like hell, why would this be any different?

  • @Duckman1616 Because when you are in anaphylaxis and your brain is focused on breathing a needle going into your leg is the least of its worries. Also, there aren't that many nerve endings in your muscles so you don't feel it. Also, I'm 15, and it didn't hurt, so unless your younger than me (which I doubt) it shouldn't hurt you. Oh yeah, and the best part, it can save you life.

  • That is not how I was taught by an A+E Doctor

  • im allergic to not having random fluid injected into me. how much would be a lethal dose?

  • would it be wised if i used that before a fight? just asking. saw it get him to the greek. looked like tons of fun to be all energized like the battery bunny

  • I got one for my severe dust allergy...thankfully I didn't have to use it yet xD But it says your supposed to like... swing your arm and stab your leg with it! I'm imagining the needle isn't very big, it doesn't really need to be very big. But it's a little creepy, because you have to STAB yourself! idk, it's no big deal really, I'm just not a fan of needles.

  • FUCK THESE GODDAMN COMMERCIALS!

  • IM playing with my epipen trainiing device poking my self.

  • @123SDGF Ass hats. LOL That's funny.

  • Does it work if you're drunk???

  • This guy needs to talk to those dunderhead TSA agents and explain that an epinephrine stick isn't a knife.

They looked at it on the scanner and kept insisting it was a knife, b/c "it looked like one."

Didn't care what I said to the contrary either.

Being a doofus must be one of the prerequisites for becoming a TSA Agent.

  • its eazy iwe done it

  • im ellergic to all nuts, asprin, oats, bees, prawns and other shell fish =O

  • @magicismyTHING Really? I'm allergic to pollen, weather changes, etc. I am possibly allergic to seafood like U.

  • It sure as hell wasn't 'self-explanatory' to the stupid airport security guards, who wanted to take it away from me on account of they thought I had 'a knife' on me.

I told them 3 times what it was and what it was for, and they're still there looking at me like I'm a lying scumbag terrorist.

I finally told them to ask an airport medic. Which they did and, after finding out it was an Epi-pen, conveniently forgot their attitude prior to asking the medic.

  • youch! He actually used a real epipen on himself!

  • @Tinkerbird i think he had a pad under the pants

  • I have allergies during the season.

  • Just a note on a previous comment: .15mg is the CHILD dose. For an adult, the dosage is .30 mg for anaphylaxis.

  • when i inject my epi pen it dosent allways work and i ushally have to take a 2nt shot of adrenalin :( then get lots of steroids

  • I take allgery shots and they say u must have one why is that???

  • @codelyokojokey3

For emergencies, like bee stings or the allergy shots stop working or something.

  • wow i have more vies than this loser

  • Thanx man I'll ask my doctor about that, I had the worst alegic reaction ever I got bit by some type of insect... 50 % chance that is a bee. My tongue swelled I had sharp pain in chest and I got hives all over my chest It was so Itchy

  • I recently found out i am allergic and have to carry one of these with me. I have a question that somebody could answer hopefully. What do you do after you inject it into you? Do you have to go to the hospital?

  • YES, call 911 or get to the hospital immediatly.

  • Alright. Thank you

  • @Notorious51G

You will start like, spazzing out.. Because it's adrenilne. And then it might be a good idea to go to the hospital.

  • first of all you never let a child be around syringes for any reason if you need assistance call for help or call 911 if someone has one use it and make them dispose of it .15 is right for an adult so read facts the 5 r's im a soon to be emt trainee going through classes 3 days a week i would know and count to 10 pull straight out so read up

  • the family doctor even agrees with me , but the allergist gave me an "Average dose " therefore 1 epi pen or a weak one for my size to weight ratio . I dont know adrenalin work with the body . I just know that a six foot 5 240 lbs guy being combative is wrong .. give me the right dose

  • I have alot to live for samadhiatman , precisely my point . One of them is a 2 year old baby girl .. The 4 year old girl that found me was in danger .. I was in shock , have a history of combative nature with bee stings . I am seeing stars .. doctors have to prescribe the correct dose ..

  • Thank you for this video. I have had several anaphylactic reactions, the epi pen saved me. My niece recently had a reaction and I am sending this to her. She has a four-year-old daughter. Thank you, thank you. M~

  • Just bothers me

  • Ended up in the emergency and woke up not too long after ..Turns out there was only one kid not kids , secondly this kid took the needle with her to mom . thats where my concern is . If I had more epineprine on me that kid would have been safe .

  • I am an electrician with a RAST rating of 5+,working outside and wiring up security cams and got stung by yellow jackets . I was seeing stars . I was able to pull the pen from my workbelt and jab my leg .. my concern is what if a baby girl comes walking along and finds the spent needle ? I was in definate anaphylaxis shock without another epi or ER . I went to find the used needle because I could hear kids around me . That baby girl was smart ! She ran to mom and mom called 911 .

  • did you know that it injects the epinephrin within 6 seconds .. they tell you 10 seconds because when you panic you ALWAYS count faster .. interesting i thought ..

  • I'm allergic to avacados it's really rare I've only had to use my epi pen twice the last time I would have died if it was not for that shot! It's amazing what has avacado in it! Shampoo all types of food!

  • This is not the correct way to do it! If you read it says JAB into thigh do not ever follow any thing expert villiage videos say they are horrible!

  • My doctor told me you don't have to jab it in anymore. You can but you don't have to. Putting it in and waiting 10 seconds will guarantee that the medicine goes through the system.

  • You should always have two epipens on you....one could misfire...I've also heard a story of a Mom who accidently stuck the needle into her thumb when trying to give it to her son....she was probably shaking so badly that she accidently pushed the needle side against her thumb. Her son did not make it....so make sure you always have TWO!

  • Incidentally, my doctor told me to call 911 after I use my Epi-Pen. I think it's b/c I have cardiac issues.

The last time my reaction happened so fast I had no time to do anything, but I didn't have Epinephrine on me anyway.

When I needed it, I didn't have it. Ever since I've had it, I haven't needed to use it.

  • Airport security thought my Epi-Pen was a knife. The guard was viewing it on the scanner, and he asked me what it is.

I told him 3 times, and he didn't understand. Finally, he took me to a separate room and they grilled me like I was a terrorist. It wasn't until I told them to ask an airport Medic to verify it really was an Epi-Pen that I was allowed to leave.

I think people who work in security would benefit from watching this video.

  • i got mine yesterday, i haven't had to use it yet.

  • You're lucky. I had to have epinephrine while I was en route to the hospital and again at the ER.

I was still shaking 3 days later.

Then again, that could have been from the Prednisone that they also gave me.

The whole anaphylactic experience is no fun.

  • i gave up on the prednisone after 2 days. i couldn't stand the shakes. i am apparently allergic to penicillin and cephalosporins. i've had 2 reactions. i need a medic alert bracelet, but havent bothered with it yet.

  • Don't you want to live?

  • i take my epipen everywhere i go

  • EpiPens are a must for me. Damn Bee's.

  • @BoostedPanda same here!!

  • lol sounds like Epic.

  • I just had to use the epi pen 2 days ago from consuming something with mushrooms in them. The epi pen did and always will save my life. I now have 4 nore epi pens and now am no longer scared to use them.

  • I'm not afraid to use mine, but I'm concerned about what it will do to my heart. I have high blood pressure and rapid heart rate.

My doctor told me to call 911 after I use it. He doesn't even like the idea of me using Albuterol, but he said I could do so in a dire emergency.

I've only had anaphylaxis one time.

  • im allergic to mushrooms as well thats a rare type

  • Cool explanation. Gr8 training aid!

  • Thank you for this video :) it's very usefull, I just recieved my first epipen 3 days ago and after watching this video I feel more comfortable with having it.

  • @mydemolitionlover yes but did you know the epi pen can kill you in the process of trying to save you?

  • @cadbrycreamegg I'll take the risk, thanks.
