  • Paladin's logic with the destruction of Kilrah always bothered me even though he ends up being right (well, he had to - otherwise the end of the game and WC4 make no sense). The Kilrathi would revert back to warring clans without centralized leadership, sure, but what are the odds NONE of the powerful clans wish to continue the fight against Confed? Even without Kilrah the total Kilrathi population greatly outnumber and outgun Confed - so just one clan keeping up the war could still be bad.

  • @aavallone Most clans were too busy bickering with one another for tablescraps of power. Although one aborted book series covers I believe one particular Kilrathi with a following, recovering a Hakaga carrier and making plans to do just that.

  • All you really know about someone is what you want to see in them and what they want to show you.

  • I could never beat this mission when I was a kid. For some reason my PC always crashed right before the mid-mission cutscene. I never actually got past this until like 1999 when I finally got a new PC.

  • I never really liked Hobbes's 'manchurian candidate' plot. For me, his actions made perfect sense - the reason he'd joined Confed was for his people, because he opposed their warlike ways. But if Confed were to go as far as to try to destroy Kilrah, then yes, it made sense that he'd try to stop that. He's still a Kilrathi, after all - a human working for the Kilrathi would likely baulk at the idea of the Kilrathi completely destroying Earth, wouldn't he?

  • @smartalec2001 This is what I've always figured.

  • And 10 years later, Vagabond becomes a crucial actor in a top rated television series, Lost. Who wouda thunkit?

  • Well, they already had Luke Skywalker, the guy from Clockwork Orange, and Biff... was bound to!

  • Should have really gone for revenge

  • No, he really shouldn't have.

  • You have no idea what the consequences are if you choose revenge...

  • Hobbes didn't betray the Humans. Ralgha did. There is a difference, the 'Hobbes' persona was a fake way, created by the Empire 10+ years ago. When Thrakhath crash-vid'd the Victory, and said 'The Heart of the Tiger', it brought Hobbes true personality to life. Lord Ralgha. Hobbes himself never knew that he was a construct, not until that very moment. In the cut content of the game, Hobbes leaves Blair a holo-vid, that explains his actions. It should really get put up on youtube sometime...

  • Very impressive you know your wing commander

  • I pride myself on it. Wing Commander was the very first videogame I ever played on my own, and I really kicked ass at it. Great story, good character. It's a shame what happened to the other pilots, like Iceman, Angel, Spirit, Hunter...

  • Iceman is my gamer tag lol, I wish they'd done a better job with the movie though, although it kinda follows the events which took place in 1 and 2. I'd love to have seen the destruction of Kilrah at the theatre wouldnt you. Reply if you want to talk some WC

  • Feh. I hated the Movie. Total. Dissapointment in my eyes. I still play WC1 and WC2 with the assorted secret missions. On the final mission of the final secret mission pack for WC2, having imported my character from the very frist WC1, I had about 980 or 1,000 kills. I'd have to check.

  • I thought I was knowledgable about the series LOL

  • @MarcusTrinnias but that video was cut from the game, leaving it anyone's guess whether it's actually canonical to the universe. There's also nothing confirming Hobbes isn't just lying in that video to cover his shame for betraying his old friend.

  • @aavallone Lying would just compound his shame, and make it even worse. Because then not only is he betraying his old friend, he is showing he lacks the courage, and the bravery to be honest to his old friend, when it really, truly matters. Even if it won't make much of a difference anyways. Also, I'm fairly certain it's canonical because Hobbes shows no signs of betraying Confed up until Thrakhath sends 'the trigger'.

  • @MarcusTrinnias True, but Confed shows no signs of destroying Kilrah and killing billions of Kilrathi civilians until that point either.

  • It's a shame Hobbes betrayed them. I really liked him.

  • What happens when you choose "Revenge" ?

  • You go after Hobbes and kill him. In the process though Vaquero dies, which sucks!

  • Yeah, because Vaquero rocks! I'd so want to go check out his Cantina! Revenge always costs more than it's worth.

  • Yeah I chose both just to see what happens. Now when I re-play it I always choose to stay. After all, I want to go to that cantina!

  • Who knew Vaquero and Cobra have the same locker?
