If so I believe it was because they were headed towards the protester headquarters which then was being raided with no warrant and they were calling for witnesses and supporters. Was a dark weekend for Toronto, but small victories like this will keep you going.

Well, as a Canadian, I have no problem with anything done in this video. The police officer gently pushed the guy back, and then the guy flipped shit and got irate. At that point, he becomes a threat, so the police grabbed him and got him away more forcefully. He's obviously fine after this, and they're all just milking it for the camera/crowd reaction.
Consider the police situation- crowds on either side, and horribly outnumbered. That's probably why they pulled out. The situation was risky.
Actually in this video the people didn't break through but the police let them go, is was a strategically planed move to make the people want to go that way.

And grabbing somebody by the throat is excessive force in many arrests... so why would it be allowed in this case? And before you go on about how much we need cops and all that... i say bullshit. I work in law enforcement, and i would never allow my partner to finish the shift if he did something like this

They had to justify a 400 million dollar security budget most of which went to police overtime. That is why they let a car burn for five hours in downtown toronto. So the cameras could see it and justify spending so much money. These unions including police officers are going to cost us our autonomy as a country.
