  • Love your videos it's helped me add new regimes to my workouts which has helped a lot.

  • I'm currently broke but as soon as i get cash im definitely buying your DVD's bruh, keep up the good work :)

  • Any trap-romboid exclusive exercise?

  • @Enanurri

Yeah, just do a search for my video called:

"Killer Trap Workout - Barbell Shrugs Pyramid Sets"

  • Cool video lee. :-D

  • incredibly impressive good mornings! i mean really I was skeptical when I saw you were going to do 225 but your form was great. I've been watching some of your videos and you give good advice. but i Just wanted to share some with you, Keep your shoulders back while rowing and curling. keep your traps squeezed so the weight doesnt pull your shoulders forward while rowing. and try doing your pullups slower and more deliberately

  • Hey lee love the videos

one quick question. i am currently in the process of losing weight or should i say fat. and well once i reach my target weight i would like to be some were near an athletic V shaped upper body. i am doing fine with working my chest arms and shoulders but i cant seem to get a good back work out. our community gym only has a universal gym with either lat pull down or seated row and dumbbells what are some good exercises i could do beside the obvious

  • @thisfool89

You really should look into joining a gym that has benches, barbells, power rack, etc. these the basic things you need for most weight training workouts. What you have is "ok" as a temporary solution. But the best thing you can do to move forward with your fitness goals is to join a well equipped gym.

  • @thisfool89 our gym costs $20/fortnight its 24/7 open and cancel anytime.. what about you guys?

  • @nzbbs

The gym I train at is $400 per year and it's open 24/7. Awesome for shooting video late at night (that's why the gym is always empty on my videos :-)

  • hey are you natural? if so you have a GREAT physique

  • I have noticed that i have bad posture , will back exercise's help my posture get better?

  • @5000jaycee Yes. Me and my cousin use to have really bad posture, we started working out back and shoulders and in a couple of months we had great posture. You'll notice dramatic results really fast for bad posture when working out.

  • @M4x4p4c thanks bro

  • @househay85

Obviously it's not the same exercise, but it does work the same major muscles (i.e. spinal erectors, hips, glutes, hamstrings, etc.)

  • gee... what can be an alternative for the hammer string high row, man... i want to target my upper back too...

  • @Wenzan3pm

Do a search for my video called: "Gironda Lat Pulls for a wide V-shape back!"

  • @Wenzan3pm upright rows

  • dude! are good mornings equivalent to conventional deadlifts..? i dont want to get redundant with my workout like, technically doing the same thing... please respond... thank you!

  • @Wenzan3pm

They work similar muscles, but they are not the same exercise.

  • ang hirap yan tol???

  • hey dude i'm beginner , would you pleaze tell me which muscle i should play on per day , like chest , bicep , triceps , back , i mean in the single day wich muscle like back + chest , bicep + triceps , you know and how many time i should play in a week , i used to workout since 2 moths

  • @sameralzaben

I recommend that you go to my main channel page, scroll down to the bottom of that page, and download a copy of my FREE Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit. This will help you get started on the right track to building a lean muscular body.

  • @leemhayward THNX ALOT

  • Excellent Video- first one of these i've seen. Very nice explanations.

  • i heard that if you rotating the hand your leaning on so it is locked, increased the isolation on the side of the back your working on......true?

  • @1992cai

Try it and see if you feel any difference...

  • @tudodude

Well that all depends on your training goals. Some powerlifters and strongman competitors will literally take 5 or 10 minutes between sets when performing max effort attempts... Never say Never, there are always exceptions to the rules :-)

  • i train mjy back 3-4 times a week lol is that bad?

  • REALLY important question for you: how long should i rest between sets? it's a question i've always had that never gets answered that would help me get a better workout in a shorter amount of time i think. thanks.

  • @anthonymarker

Rest times between sets will vary depending on the exercises being done, training goals, etc. But a good rule of thumb is to rest 2-3 minutes between big heavy exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, etc. and about 1 minute between smaller isolation exercises.

  • Lee Hayward is the BEST!!!

  • yeah bang out those sets....bang them out

  • dont wana get caught slipn doin good mornings in prison

  • I've been doing those Dumbell rows but I really can't feel a good pump in my back.. Any tips on how to use your back more in that excersise?

  • I did this and I was sore for a week lol..awesome g.morning workout man u rock!

  • oke so i watch all you routine videos comeplete back workout routine shoulder bicep etc.... i'm 15.Are those ex enough for me?

  • Comment removed

  • i think the last 2 ex were for the abs right?

  • @TutorialMakeRO

    Yes, those were ab exercises.

  • @leemhayward Hey, BB rows makes my lower back uncomfortable during and after the workout, so can you help with some sort of a substitution exercise?? Thanks

  • those equipments actually exist !

  • Love your videos. I've been taking notes from your videos alone since I started weight training 6 months ago. I've made some huge gains from mixing the stronglifts 5X5 program, and your videos. Even bought the heavygrips. Thanks Lee.

PS. Your newfoundland accents makes me think of Julian from Trailer Park Boys. I keep hoping Lahey will stumble in to the gym in the middle of your sets.

  • @supertramp93586

LOL maybe I should start carrying around a glass of rum and coke when I go to the gym :-)

  • Can't*

  • You can target the lower abdominals it's your hip flexors that burn. The abdominal muscles are all attached. So these so called lower an workouts are just working out your hip flexors along with your abs. Bottom line, if you don't eat good, you're not gunnanhave abs.

  • KEEP IT POSITIVE! keeps me going everyday with my workouts!!!!

  • Hi, really nice video! I have back strain, did consult with doctor and he said nothing wrong my back bone. Still I feel pain when I do leg raise, although I really like this exercise but can I change it with something else.

  • @nijjar11

Not every exercises feels good for everybody. If a particular move hurts, find another alternative instead. There are dozens of exercises you can do for each muscle group, just experiment and see what moves you can do without causing pain.

  • Hello Lee, I am a lady and I can only do half a pull up at the moment and I want to be able to knock out 20 in a row, eventualy. What can I do to become strong enough to firstly, do a full pull up then multiples? I can't pull myself up when I am fully extended, hanging from the bar.

I also noticed that you didn't do any lat puldowns or cable rows for this workout, do you switch from week to week. Which exercises are better to develop pull up strength?

  • @mzmarsters

I actually have a complete "Progressive Pull Up Program" that's available on my website LeeHayward*com

  • @leemhayward Thanks

  • @tf08js2

Really? Why do people have to try to bring down others to make themselves feel better? All it does it show how insecure you are about yourself

  • is it really necessary to follow a sequence in every muscle workout? just like this video?

  • @william467858

It's good to have a set workout plan to follow. But occasionally I'll just wing it and pick a body part and make up the routine on the fly. I usually do that when training at a new gym and I'm not familiar with the equipment.

  • @leemhayward thanks.. can you give me a program of workout to follow? if its ok. 'cause i don't trust our gym instructor.

  • @william467858

Just go to my website and sign up for a "Customized Diet & Workout Program" the link is at the top of LeeHayward*com

  • why you are not going all the way to failure when doing pullups?

  • @kingwill03

I prefer to do multiple sets stopping short of failure, this way you'll be able to get more total pull ups done during your workouts.

  • @tf08js2

    Err, really?

  • 3:15

  • no deadlifts?

  • thanks man

  • I was always taught to keeps my legs straight. You are bending yours. Explain

  • @sinfuldavy0

Which exercise are you referring to?

  • @leemhayward im guessing he is talking about the pull ups.

  • Are good mornings bad for you?? I've been doing them for some time and I've been noticing some definition; however, I was told they are bad to perform.

  • never do good morning guys extremly bad for neck and back extreme pain got this advice from my formation im a personal trainer

  • @SW71ful

Update: he is a personal trainer with a weak back... LOL

  • @leemhayward your gym, not for beginners?

  • @IAmGunzNoob

Sure it is, there are lots of beginners who train at our gym. We all have to start somewhere.

  • @leemhayward what is the gym's name?

  • @SW71ful if good mornings are bad for the back and neck do you know of a workout to substitute it with thats good for the back?

  • @ConnHill normal dead lift with light weight or normal back extension depends if you have low pressures.

What i mean is that if you get dizzy when your head go down below your waists don't do the back extension but if not back extension are pretty good or thew dead lift

  • @SW71ful yea today i tried good mornings and my neck really hurts from all that weight resting on my upper back/neck area. and my lower back is aching. not sure if its just form doing the good mornings for the first time, or having improper form

  • @ConnHill good morning is an old exercises that was used in the past cause they didn't have the equipment do back extension. But now If you ask a trainer if his good or any gym personal trainer he would avoid using this exercises

  • @ConnHill normal dead lift with light weight or normal back extension depends if you have low pressures.

What i mean is that if you get dizzy when your head go down below your waists don't do the back extension but if not back extension are pretty good or the dead lift

  • STEVE-O!!!

  • newfie newfie newfie

  • I know you are canadian, but what is your ethnicity?

  • @MrAshtonRenae newfie

  • lol i love the fact you're wearing a superman shirt

  • lee how do you become vascular

  • @Punk4Life408

The key to getting vascular is getting ultra lean with very thin skin. When your skin is thin you can see the muscle definition and veins underneath.

  • HEY LEE

SORRY BUT AT FIRST I THOUGHT U WERE SOME LAME GUY WHO WOULD JUS TBE DOING TALKING AND STUFF BUT UR NOT. SORRY FOR MISJUDGING U AND HEY

I REMEMBER DOIN SHRUGS AND NOW MY TRAPS FEEL KINDA WEIRD I CANT TELL IF ITS SORE OR HURT....SO..SHOULD I DO SHRUGS?

  • @MYDICKISWOW About the shrugs, go straight up and straight down, i myself see people at the gym spinning their shoulders. That is how you hurt yourself. Up and down slowly.

  • the spreading the pull ups through out the routine is a great idea (Y)

  • Great routine Lee, will be trying it out this week!

  • Your gym has very effective machines

  • Is it just me or those this guy look like STEVE-O

  • hey Lee, for any back execise is it good to control the weight or use heavy weights?

  • how many warm up sets for each excersise?

  • Good routine, the only thing I would perhaps change(or alternate with your style) is on the leg raises I would perform each rep in a slower fashion and hold the position at the top for a second.

  • hey lee, why do you do abs exercises after working out other parts

  • hey lee... i started body building since last week ..

may you please tell me weekly workout route en?

    please guide me....

    Thanx

  • Hey Lee, you said that you like to throw in abs after a few of your workouts.. so does that mean u train abs more than once a week? If so, can this be done with other muscle groups (say triceps and biceps) because i have always understood that training muscle groups more than once a week or even more than 5-6 days can deteriorate the muscle before it rebuilds fully frm the previous workout, therefore being counter productive... any advice???

  • @jodhan23 all muscle groups need 48 hours recover at least......i always do, back, chest, leggs,. and so on and with chest days i do shoulders and triceps too, with back day i do biceps and lowerarms and with leggs i do abs

  • @looijz ah ok, are you sure about the 48 hours recovery periods coz i would hav thought u need longer. for example if i have had a hard chest or tri workout then i will feel it for up to 4 days after no mater how much i eat

  • @jodhan23 i say AT LEAST 48 hours, but 4 days..are you sure its not stiffness? but its possible, sometimes if i had a real nice workout i also have pain 3 days later....but mostly i recover in 48-72 hours but if you need 4 days, you should listen to your body

  • deadlift?

  • @ShirayuriSky yes deadlift!!! best to gain more strenght in your lower back

  • hey lee will doing good mornings help increase my deadlift?

  • @zdo5p : i feel good mornings have helped my deads & squat

  • thank's mr Lee, i like ur videos.. it really helps me

  • Lee is a tank, My question is how often and how much should you work on your back?

  • @Roghany you should train back at max twice a week.

  • Comment removed

  • @Alxcode9

Use another pull down variation. You can vary the exercises based on what you have available at your gym. This routine is just to be used as a guideline.

  • Hey Lee. My gym doesn`t have the Hammer strenght high-row. Do you have advice for an alternate exercise?

  • @Schizo27 Hi there i'm not Lee but i fort ide help u out with your question u can use the lat pulldown instead of the high row its very similar and u can vary your hand grips with the lat pulldown so just use that instead.

  • @zdo5p Thanks! I appreciate it. :)

  • hey lee, how many sets of the good mornings do you do?

  • @thrashmetal1029

Usually at least 3-4 sets per workout.

  • wow, i cannot begin to tell you how helpful your videos have been to me thanks a lot lee!!!!!!!!

  • Swinging legs way too much on the leg raises.

  • @perfboi69 yea i no what u meen but it's obviously working for him.

  • oh i love steve-o :D

  • thank you iv been looking for a good back workout for a while

  • leeei s such a douchebag

  • good day mr. lee just want to ask.. how long you've been training to look like that?? coz you got the physic i want..

  • What can i sub. in for hammer strength rows???

  • this guy is the real deal....every video this guy has made has helped me in one way or another...thanks lee!!!!!

  • Thanks again lee, nice one m8!

  • Love the spacing out of the pullups!

  • I did goodmornings in the gym yesterday after I watched this and my spine freaken hurts (like the place were the bar is placed) What am I doing wrong, and do I need to do anything to my spine for treatment, or should I just leeave it alone

  • thanks man. great workouts. i trained for 6 months but i got injued and had to stop. your workouts will help me in making a comeback

  • jay cutler is better

  • this is totaly not relevant but does smoking cannabis every night and having sex every night slow ur bulking up process...???

  • Hey Lee, why don't you do deadlifts during your back day?.

  • For some of you's I'd be very carefull with those Good Mornings. Those look like they can do some serious damage to backs that are untrained. Please be careful.

  • wow! good mornings - 2 plates on each side!

  • for the dumbell rows: do you normally have a straddled stance like you did in the video or do yo sometimes keep your feet at the same level?

  • Nice Lee! A lot of young bodybuilders neglect the lower back! I myself prefer the stiff-legged Deadlift! I get a killer hamstring/lower back blast all in one!

  • @p90x4lifewaswrong <-- Haha, like the name.

  • @Fretburningmaster Thank you!

  • Hey Lee! JM presses are awesome! Do you have any good traps workout aswell? ur vids are way cool dude. good luck on the competition

  • check his playlists i beleive he does im not 100% sure

  • if I am using this workout for strength/power rather than size (I wrestle), should I shoot for low reps like 5x5 or go for the number of reps you did? (~10) Thanks.

  • Got a question Lee. If I have a minor shoulder injur (rear party of my shoulder subluxed) would you say pull ups are ok to do? Or should I find another exercise for it in replace.

  • Lee can talk a good game, but he can also.... Back it up ;)

  • Hey Lee, I am in a way of a new suscriber.

I just wonder, do you have another job? I am very curious how you can afford everything but I just don't understand how money can come out of just doing exercises and shows.

    Thanks

  • Is it really any of our business how he makes his money? He isn't here to give us financial advice, he is trying to help us achieve our fitness goals. Take a hike chief.

  • It's not all about the money. I just love doing what I do. Now yes, I do make a living from it (i.e. selling books, DVD's, courses, customized programs, etc.) but again I do this mainly because I enjoy it.

  • Doing what you enjoy is the best. I hope someday to find that in my life as well. Keep up the good work bro!

  • Thanks for the response.

Yeah it is important to do something you can not just live with but enjoy.

Not a lot of people have that opportunity and have to stick to things they dislike.

    Keep it up!

  • @leemhayward from what i read and know from a few pro lifters... you should go slower on your reps. i noticed on ur BRs you go pretty fast and not as high as most people. goin at that rate and height its more of a bicep workout bc the lats are being half assed.

and swinging a tad bit on ur pull ups :) but keep up the good work... you are getting people off the couch so thats always good.

  • Well said lee. "Its not all about money. I just love doing what i do"...Bravo

  • @leemhayward YEAH, YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT MR LEE.... IF WE DO SOMETHING THAT WE ENJOY, MONEY IS NOT A BIG PROBLEM.. LEE RULEZ

  • leemhayward, This video is definently ok.

  • Lee, I have never had luck using db rows for back width (lats) though I have had luck with other exercises (pull ups, rack chins). Have you ever tried rowing primarily for thickness (mid and upper back) rather than width (lats).

  • @donovanbrambila

I honestly feel that rowing helps add width and thickness. But the main thing is to hit your back from all angles with various rowing and pulling exercises as well as work for the spinal erectors.

  • I have trouble running on the treadmill, when I try to run too fast my shin bone doi greatly because of the impact, you know how to solve this problem.

  • you are very full of yourself... heh heh

  • lee, a tip for leg raise station: to get to the 'heavy 10 rep range' if you're advanced (as you are) find some ankle weights that strap on so they're hands free. 5 to 10 lbs will do for most people because of the leverage brought on by the distance from the hips to the ankles.

and i agree 100% about resistance in ab exercises, i see everyone doing hundreds of crunches in the gym while i just do a few 'heavy sets' and i leave a better looking mid section.

  • is it safe to perform goodmornings without a safety belt?

  • you talked about uneveness...what are some good exercises to fix uneveness in muscles... like in the chest and arm.

  • You know on the Ab workout machine, when I do it it doesn't feel natural, it feels like it wants to pull my stomach part, and if i go with a lower weight its just useless, is it better if i just stick to 100 crunches 2 times a week?

  • @pronation1

Use another weighted abdominal exercise. Cable pull down crunches, weighted sit ups, there are tons of weighted ab exercises.

  • Kewl

  • THANK U SO MUCH I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS FOR A LONG TIME i am going to encorperate it with my routine starting 2morrow

  • Why no deadlifts

  • i think because they are primarily a hamstrings and glute exercise

  • @MrDan500

Because I'm doing good mornings instead, both exercises work the same major muscles.

  • @leemhayward Thats true I've always found good mornings more useful on leg day. Plus they dont really hit the upper back where as the deadlift will target each muscle in the back. Cool vid though

  • this is a good workout but i'd add some Shrugs in that workout .. i always finish off my back workout with shrugs ..

  • how many sets for each excerise?

  • No deadlifts??

  • @Nikilwig

You don't have to do deadlifts in every back workout, you can do other variations. Good mornings work the spinal erectors, hips, glutes, and hamstrings very similar to deadlifts and both exercises will complement one another.

  • time to try it out ;)

  • Nice workouts

  • great routine lee. how long do you stay in the gym for?

  • good video lee ill try this out my next back day
