@shrinky71 Don't forget the MC-5 and New York Dolls but American never the less. If you ever watch the documentary End of the Century about the Ramones, Joe Strummer from the Clash and Captain Sensible from the Damned both English punk Icons both said The Ramones coming and playing in london in 1974 created the british punk scene. As a 40 year old American punk rocker I've always hated the erroneous credit England gets for "creating" punk rock.
@tbone2872 I know, Tbone. I own that Ramones documentary. I knew that other band were involved. I just listed the first two obvious influences on the British punks. Certain Kinks songs and Keith Richards could qualify if they want to make an argument about punk being a UK thing. But the UK Punks themselves mentioned The Ramones and Iggy. Thus the reason they came to mind first.
@shrinky71 I wasn't saying you were wrong I was just trying to add to your arguement. And you're right everybody has an influence even if they are totally original. Even the term "Punk Rock" was coined in the US, specifically in New York. But again I wasn't trying to find fault with what you were saying I was just trying to back you up.
@maximus50238 true it started in america then went to england. a lot of the l.a. bands were into bubblegum rock from the early 60s and surf music so that's our version. hardcore
@AoDxGaming when you call someone a retard, you should at least spell the word "you're" correctly. there were plenty of punk rock bands that came earlier than most british bands. some people think of the velvet underground as some of the first pioneers of punk rock. and what about television? black flag? the ramones? new york dolls. x. all these bands started in the 70's if not before. all from the US. it makes no sense to give all the credit to england just cause that had crass and the pistols
@Christophanus bitch, your vision sucks, those aren't shaved. He's a blonde. They're their, just hard to see. Speaking of hahaha you aussies are known for screwing kangaroos. Stupid queers.
@gkooooz you're a fucking idiot dirthead hippie. you aint a hardcore punk rocker. hardcore punks were doing the opposite of what the hippie loser drop out heroin faggots were doing. if anything back in the day, the hardcore punks were doing speed, coke, or drinking beer(more than anything). so while you were getting buttfucked in the back alley, people were making bands and creating a DIY scene, you fucking junkie 60s loser.
this is bullshit--this aint punk this is fag shit---when i was punk rock i was doing dope in the back alleys of skid row i--i wasnt doing some interview on tv. all of you are punk azz hoes. this guy probably does gay gangbang videos as a hobby.
@Stryker37573 they didn't ask her what her beliefs were and she's acting pretty rebelious here in the short time we see her. reminds me of a younger belinda carlisle.
@Stryker37573 I don't know, I think the go gos just evolved into good quality hard rock that was punked up. just like billy idol did. to me that was good mainstream music, which the 80s had a lot of.
i don't think they sold out per se but you clearly disagree, so we will just have to disagree on that. I DO think they ruined one song by slowing it down. it sounded better fast when they rewrote it.
Being punk doesn't mean being an arsehole; I don't hate my parents, I love them to death; I'm not rebelling against them cos they gave me life; I'm rebelling against the fact if you're under 25 your chances of getting a job are so slim and the fact there's still so much bigotry in this world and people just accept the status quo, but sure people don't understand it. Those kids sat with their parents in the first part of this video are fucking posers.
@TheNewMusicNetwork What the fuck do you care if I am or not, or if I'm a fag or not. TheNewMusicNetwork wow, enjoying Lady Gaga's new releases are we? Go fuck yourself you cunt.

What these naive parents fail to realize is: when you have so many expectations of your kids and you try to shelter them so severely, they will lash out. It isn't the musician's fault if some of these kids are too ignorant to see the satire and perspective of their lyrics, Just like I'm sure they don't blame religion for Hitler...
These kids are fucking stupid. I hate when people label themselves punk as an excuse to be complacent, freeloading assholes. If you gave a shit about the sub-culture or stood by any cause (i.e. gay rights) you wouldn't be dumbing yourself down like these kids are. Punks should be the way they are because it is a part of them, not because they want to fit in.
A long time ago the "Punk rock" scene was dangerous back then in Los Angeles where I grew up. It was dangerous to dress up as "punk" becos u would get your ass kicked by others particularly by cholo gang members and made fun of at school... .but now it's just a poser "trend" and accepted and commercialized by the music industry and media.
Without punk rock music , I probably would be in jail or prison right now. No joke I was heading down a really bad path and punk helped me see the world in a new light . I can say it was the best thing to happen in my life . I became more involved with my community and became a really nice guy .
..but now in 2010 parents take their kids to buy them "punk clothes" at the shopping mall or in the internet and get their hair dyed at the poser hair stylist salon and buy them warped tour concert front row tickets for 50 dollars! woopee!
@mondocaneman then those spoiled kids grow out of that punk (pop-oriented) phase only to dread for acceptance by mainstream society -_- punk was never about that
My parents COULD NOT 'bridge the gap'...mom ripped up my clothes and just made them more punk, Punk WAS a rebellion aginst normality and mainstream. DC and Dischord Records ruled punk for me!!
btw the girl looks more martha and the muffinish! lol
being a punk is a state of mind..i love all these tatted morons with crazy peircings and crazy hair and piercings who dont have a thought in their mind..read a book and .tattoo your soul.......... morons...
im still into punk music, but as far as the fashion goes at 30 u look a bit stupid trying to look different and shock, even if i feel and always felt different, in the mid 90s punk still shocked believe me

FEAR is DEFINITELY on my top 10 band list. These parents are totally fucked but then heres their kid saying Im ant-parent? WTF? Been a punk my whole life never been anti-family. Stupid parents stupid kids.
Parents take no accountability and they wonder where kids get it from. As if there was no family disfunction before punk rock. Most punkers hated Reagan. Maybe there was something to that.

because those kids are such posers and also because they make it seem like all punk kids like hate there parents and want to kill everyone and do drugs and other dumb shit.
Sure drugs are a part of it [unless you are straight edge ] But sence when do punks wanna go and kill everyone? I have never heard of this before. Most punks want peace. No war.
Rhonda doesn't look punk, she looks more like an early 80's skank!!! The Dad is such a dork, those suits were out by the mid-70's. They look rich by the look of their pad, get some new threads Dad!!!
these kids are pussies, i would kick the shit outta that bald guy, fuck that sister in the face till she squirt cum out her ears, then teabag both the parents for being so douchey
Sin 34 say that intro at the beginning of a song, wow I thought they had made it up. Awesome, that is really cool this is the video that inspired Sin 34 to make the song "War At Home". Check out that song, it's great!
parents are authority figures...question authority ALWAYS......just one drink???WTF?? shove that leisure suit up yer @ss!! the parents look like typical alcoholic people in denial....the US is on its way down...
L.A. punk was in pretty dismal shape by this time. Most of the intelligent people who started that scene, and the bands they followed, were long gone--Claude Bessy, the Screamers, the Weirdos. Thing is, Fear had been around since 1977 and were part of that original scene, too. But by 1982, the audiences were too dumb and violent to get the joke. Punk turned into a mess when it reached the suburbs.
Wow, this is funny!!! What do expect when you are a disgruntled rich kid! I used to hang with theses type of kids in high school, nice houses, plently of everything!!! They changed after about a year or 2. If it's back then or nowadays, it's the same.
who cares where punk started? what matters is that it happened and that it was very real, better than that crap the parents were talking about their kids; like the kids weren't even there and arn't capable of thinking for themselves.
comment below me is right, but it kinda started with the stooges influences, and a small band they listened to a lot, which were a sort of new style which didnt get very far, but influenced them to make the music that they made =P
PUNK DID NOT START IN ENGLAND. It started in DETROIT with The Stooges in the late 1960s... Iggy Pop is the original punker. Pere Ubu out of Cleveland a few years later; but still a couple years before The Sex Pistols. What a surprise such stark music could come out of Detroit & Cleveland. Anyone know what happened to this family?
You're right. The NY scene is where Malcom McLaren got all his ideas.
McLaren went back to England with the intentions of starting a band (The Sex Pistols). He hand picked each member, dressed them, and promoted them as outlaws. McLaren was a genius marketer.
so the parents want them to grow up in their image?? a lame, boring family that does nothing but the same routine, with no goals and no inpiration that punk rock gives to everyone who is about it.. and has stayed within our punk rock scene
fuckers punk started in mighigan with the stooges and branched out thanks to the ramones. england punk is still awesome, but fuck get your facts straight
@nibo1980y your a kook its the same shit!!! it started in nyc .. when malcom maclaren saw the new york dolls ... he just took the fashion to the uk and started the sex pistols ...
I don't get it! If you don't want to be hurt, don't read your daughters diary. Fascist fucker! He talks about his daughter drinking wine, when he probably comes home and has 20 Coors Lights. That's what my step dad did.

Sin 34 say that intro at the beginning of a song, wow I thought they had made it up. Awesome, that is really cool this is the video that inspired Sin 34 to make the song "War At Home". Check out that song, it's great!

L.A. punk was in pretty dismal shape by this time.

If it's back then or nowadays, it's the same.

just kids dude, with no perspective I was at this show at 'THe Country Club' Feb12, 1982

who cares where punk started? what matters is that it happened and that it was very real, better than that crap the parents were talking about their kids; like the kids weren't even there and arn't capable of thinking for themselves.

comment below me is right, but it kinda started with the stooges influences, and a small band they listened to a lot, which were a sort of new style which didnt get very far, but influenced them to make the music that they made =P

Anyone know what happened to this family?
sendhimtodetroit 2 years ago 2
dont forget NYC. it also played a big part. and Cali had hardcore and it moved from there
bosssoundbob 2 years ago
You're right. The NY scene is where Malcom McLaren got all his ideas.
McLaren went back to England with the intentions of starting a band (The Sex Pistols). He hand picked each member, dressed them, and promoted them as outlaws. McLaren was a genius marketer.

Its funny how punk evolved to having clean cut short hair to having dyed spiky hair

I don't get it! If you don't want to be hurt, don't read your daughters diary. Fascist fucker! He talks about his daughter drinking wine, when he probably comes home and has 20 Coors Lights. That's what my step dad did.
