Bob and Ray used to do some great impressions of Godfrey. I could never explain Godfrey's appeal....then again, I couldn't explain Eisenhower's appeal as President either.....
Here is one of the first pre-existing material [PD] videos that I've uploaded. The late Arthur Godfrey [August 31, 1903-March 16,1983], wore many hats: Ukelele player,. broadcaster, singer, entertainner, songwriter, comic, and pitchman. Oft-known for many weird stunts. In November 1953 made infamous as the guy who fired regular Julius LaRosa. [Still I hate to admit, Godrey hs a certian attraciton for me..:)]
His firing Julius LaRosa on the air (!)pretty much signaled the end of Godfrey's career, but boosted LaRosa's.
