  • Great video dude

I'm just wondering what's the name of the program that you use to record the screen in Ubuntu

  • you're the man :)

  • @mh3rn4nd3z3 I do that to give creative commons music some recognition :)

  • @amzertech I appreciate the sentiment of wishing to help creative commons music, but for us older viewers, background music makes it more difficult to understand your instructions.

  • ONLY IF THIS CAN BE REVERSE.. MY HOST PC IS WINDOWS 7 AND MY VB IS UBUNTU..IT WONT WORK..

  • This is the best explanation I have seen so far. Great job!

    Very easy.

  • I have one question. I cannot check on the Guest user Box thing, it is just gray. How can I fix this? And does it work for Windows 7 too?

    SirJWP

  • i almost gave up on reading about this... i was on so many different sites that just confused me. but didnt even think of samba. i used to use it with my xbox and windows machine. but i just made the move to linux and theres a few things i still need windows for and this was a horrible roadblock. works perfect. dont know about the security of haveing the guest account though....

  • hi, i've tried it it works for my computers in the same network but i tried sending to a friend and he cant see it. any ideas or i just have to use another program? thx

  • thanks a lot for this clip

  • Don't know if you can answer this, but I've done what you have pointed out here, but everytime I try to connect to the ubuntu share, i get a box to enter a user name and password.

I am assuming that I have some permission issues to work out, but i am not sure...

    Any Ideas...

  • When sharing the folder make sure you check "Guest Access" that's the only thing I can think of that could cause that. try it out and let me know if you need more help.

  • wow very good, and great music!

  • Omfg, dude!!

Thanks alot! you saved my day haha!!

this guide really helped me!! top nice!

  • what about setting the workgroup name.

    how to do it?

  • At the Terminal type the command

    sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf

Scroll Down and at the workgroup = workgroup, simply change the workgroup name and press enter

Restart Samba, at the terminal type

    sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart

    That's it.

  • Thanks, but I would like to know how to do it the easy way.

I mean using GUI and not going to the terminal.

  • nice video , thanx for your tutorial

  • I'd add just one thing. You don't even have to have Samba previously installed. You just go to the folder, check 'Share this folder', and Ubuntu will ask you if you want to install Samba.

If you agree, it will install Samba automatically and you're done.

    cheers!

  • You're right. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • anytime.
