The splitter basically splits out the incoming telephone line into separate voice and data channels. The voice channel is filtered so you don't hear static on the phone line when you pick the phone set up to make a call. You connect your phone set to the port that's marked "Phone" on the splitter. The other port, typically marked as "Data" is for your ADSL modem. You connect the phone line from this port to your modem's RJ-11 port.

what about if i want to use a splitter?
i tried using 3 different one but none worked WTF.
am i missing something?
