Mike I love you and hate you couse you've broken the best band in the world. DT never gonna be the same without you. I think that leaving DT was the biggest mistake in your life...Try to understand that all your projects will never be as good as DT. You left your family. Anyway I wish you all the best, you always be the best drummer to me...
I was fortunate to see DT 3 times with Portnoy in it in 1993 (when Kevin Moore was still in the band), 1997, and in 2010. He's a badass drummer but the DT won't be the same without him (I liken it to the time when Tony Bourge left Budgie), but hey, life goes on....
I think you had to leave DT.You looked bored on stage.Even though the drumming sounded like a Harley Davidson blearing down the road, it seemed to look like you didnt want to be there. Also i could hear alot of extras being put into songs live.Again it seemed as though you were trying to spice it up by putting extars in or maybe you were just practing live on stage during DT songs.
You should have thought twice about the 5year slumber for DT before you announced it.
@godofwar5 when mangini came...he should have been forgotten...but DT fans are soooo unthankful...he just became a poser partying kerrang asshole...I hope that he wont come back to DT because hes just an asshole right now..hes not the same humble guy who made LDT...

I believe he is happier than ever, offcourse there must be some harsh feelings about leaving, particularly in the beginning, but that´s just a feeling that strikes you when you get out of your comfort zone, there is a loss but there might me much more gain too.
Mike is great. I hate that he wanted to leave DT but I'm glad he followed his heart. I am excited to see what DT does with Mangini who is also great. It at least promises PROGress. And having the opportunity to hear Portnoy doing so many more things will be great too!

I saw DT when they were doing the Progressive Nation tour in late '09. Portnoy
just looked like he was stressed out, and kind of irritable.
At some points he even looked particulary frustrated with Petrucci. Weird, but even sounding great, you could sense the tension on that stage.

@GuillermoSmyser He didn't want to leave, he wanted a hiatus
uberepicdeathkill 9 months ago
@uberepicdeathkill Well, yeah. But when the band decided that wasn't happening he wanted/felt like he had to leave. I'm not faulting him.
