Original was much better, more style, plus Caine is a better actor, and unlike Stallone Caine didn't dodge the draft either, that comparative strength of character shows in this role.
Jack Carter features heavily (the cane version) in the league of extraordinary gentlemen 1969: paint it black, comicbook. I recommend it, even for people who don't follow the series.
Very underrated film. I loved the original but this movie was very impressive too. Sylvester Stallone showed wonderful acting. The same with Miranda Richardson, Rachael Leigh Cook, Johnny Strong, Alan Cumming, John C. McGinley and others. "Get Carter" is my personal favorite Stallone movie in decade 2000-2009
It would be easy to launch into a tirade of expletives describing this film. It's probably the worst re-make of any film I have ever had the mis-fortune to watch.
Why Michael Caine ever agreed to be involved, is a mystery, which can only be answered by huge amounts of money..
I think this flick gets a bad rap... while it's an awful remake of the Michael Caine classic, it's a pretty good Stallone movie. I love the melancholy performance of Sly, the 'man dance' scenes with Mickey Rourke, the hard-edged violence and the scene on the rooftop between Stallone and Rachael Leigh Cook remains some of his best career-best acting. It's a damn shame they didn't just give it a different title and lose the 'You're a big man...' speech (as it makes no sense in this context)
stay666, Stallone's tailored suits and the Chesterfield Golds are the best, huh?? Of course, I actually live in the LV area and practically nobody dresses like that because you'd melt down to a puddle on the casino floor. But, this is a fictional world where Alan Cumming is a tech billionaire, so go figure.
its a movie geez , relax about the suits and chesterfields and what does LV matter it could have been AC or any city , it was just a movie and those were sharp suits and you wouldnt hear any beotch that was worthwhile complainingabout 'em
The original was good but this one was awesome. Sylvester Stallone is the best action movie star. He was way better than Michael Caine. I love this movie. Great ending

In either the original or the remake, is the main character himself a vigilante or just an everyday gangster?

Michael Caine: Revenge doesn't work.
Stallone: Sure it does.
-Don't fuck with Carter
Note: I do think this movie is very bad.

I like both just the same. Both have a unique way of portraying the same storyline.

As the trailer says Carter is Caine & Caine is Carter not Stallone. Slys made some great films but his Get Carter is an absolute disgrace
