I know the words have been quoted many times. But for those who may not know....here they are once again.
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those... moments... will be lost... in time, like... tears... in rain."
It's speculated that the Tannhauser Gate was some sort of faster-than-light portal and the c-beams were some structure around it
You notice how he pauses slightly then says "moments"...as if he's not completely sure what to call them. They're really memories but he may not realize them as such.
I tried to copy the visual aesthetics of this scene for one of my finals at film school. I love this scene in Blade Runner and didn't really do it justice... but do you guys mind checking it out and letting me know what you guys think? Thanks. :) youtube.com/watch?v=YOphFl88U-g
"I don't know why he saved my life? Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before? Not just his life, anybodies life, my life. All he wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where do I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do is just sit there and watch him die." - Rick Deckard
@indyclonejr I have the original..and the added narration/dialogue from decker def makes it more interesting and meaningful..am glad you quoted the words missing here..well done my friend!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in the rain. [time to die]
A few sentences is all it takes, but it highlights better than anything the true power of this film. Following the monumental statement of visual artistry and genre pioneering, those three sentences are the most evocative and give me shivers unlike anything else in the film. When a single sentence can give such an impression of depth to a character's history like that... it's magic that should be revered. The size and conception of the world explodes through any viewer's imagination right then.
...love the movie love the soundtrack...thxu for uploading the HD version, i hate it when people upload crappy 240p videos...to make this video better you should add the scene where Roy chases Deck on the roof and Deck jumps and Roy rescues him then this scene would be complete...
@garlandfornow It's the soundtrack version. It doesn't have the "time to die" line, for, in my opinion, creating a more poetic version and making it more logical for a tune. The "time to die" works only fir the movie. If you get my meaning.
That croak in his throat just seals the deal. When I hear him speak i feel like I am seeing the things he has seen, and felt the things he has felt. Truly a great improvisational piece of that century! This film gets better with every viewing, and that isnt just a way of saying how good the film is, it really does get better! It's amazing how a film with so many problems during delevopment turns into such a masterpiece!
It provides me with a sense of serenity and calmness yet requires intellect!
@Croyles Wasn't improvised as far as I know. There was a version of it in the script and Rutger Hauer took it and made into more of a 'one verse poem' as people have called it. Doesn't take away from the beauty though.
thank You for this. I adore this film! ;-)
