  • Isn't it odd about vehicle spacing? I suppose they get tired of moving forwards a few yards and then wearing out their lickle leggy muscles holding down that great, big, heavy, clutch spring.

BTW: I'd be a teensy bit more circumspect about undertaking vehicles which block your view of suicidal pedestrians jumping into your path. It seems an awful shame not to let them fall on their swords, naturally, but you might bend your bike!

Let's be careful out there, people!

  • @Tricyklist

Yeah, must be hard work operating those clutches like that, really giving them a workout eh?

While riding in these conditions I always keep half an eye open on the RH side in between vehicles, especially the larger ones for a heads-up on anyone crossing from the other side of the road. The camera has a far narrower field of vision than I do, so I will be taking in much more information than you will see in my videos. Also keeping my speed down helps.

  • Why are they driving on the cycle lane at 2:20 ?

  • @xchopp oh...there's s/one turning right/

  • LOL at the bike lane at 0:59

  • @kie7077

Yes, I see what you mean!

  • Looked really nice up until about 02:20, everyone was giving the cycle lane a nice wide berth.

  • @GlasgowCycle

Yes there was decent space up until the single lane branches out into two for the final part of the queue to the lights. The lights themselves are relatively new, replacing the mini-RAB that was there before but as always, you have to keep your eyes open for those joining from that last side road on the right. A lot of the traffic will ultimately turn left at the lights and so those coming from that side road essentially have 3 lanes to cross.

  • Just watch those passenger-side doors... Witnessed a cyclist getting 'doored' on that side before - not nice!

  • @northyorksbaddrivers

Yes very true! I do not feel entirely comfortable riding a lane beside all these vehicles, hence I've kept my speed pretty low. It's frustrating as I'm usually much quicker through here.

  • @kmcyc I can testify to that -- look at kmcyc's other videos -- this really is a case of motorized traffic slowing the cyclist down.

  • This road is pretty bumpy. I mean look your head is jumping on your neck :)

  • @SanskritFritz

Ah I don't know, it's not too bad for this stretch, there are worse conditions elsewhere on my commute. I ride a hybrid with no suspension, 28C road tyres at 100psi and find it quite comfortable. The bumps are probably made to look worse than they are by the camera, which does seem to shake a far bit I'll grant you!

  • @ZaxIntel what country is that registration plate from?
