Don't forget Earth too! Cobain played on one of their albums. I think, there the connection between melvins, nirvana and earth is just great alternative music incorperating doom, stoner, drone, punk, grunge and rock.

I don't get all these "Nirvana owns Melvins"/"Melvins own Nirvana" comments everywhere. I like nirvana (more or less only the 87-90 stuff though), and sure, I like melvins a lot more, but does that really matter? Nirvana were never trying to be better than Melvins, they were only inspired by them. Nirvana had in other words nothing to do with the Melvins, except for Buzzo and Crover being friends with Cobain.
