Firstly it's important to remember Leona was unwell the week she sung this. Both of them are amazing talents but i definitely think Leona sings it better both technically and emotionally. Charice's Falsetto isn't as natural or as strong as Leonas, and whilst Charice does belt it out hers is simply a fail in comparison to Whitney because it's a copycat version whereas Leona adds her own unique style to the song. I love Charice but Leona is definitely more talented, no question!

Actually, I've got to say that I like Leona's voice more. I find Charice's voice a bit too heavy sometimes, as if she is very pushing and, therefore, imitating Whitney. I like Leona because she is so authentic and she has a voice which has a lighter and more comfortable sound. That's my opnion. Nevertherless, Charice is also very, very good singer!

I agree charice's version was better, but i have just seen the full leona lewis video when she was on the x-factor and she had laryngitis at the time when she sang that song, so not bad! but generally charice does sing better, but leaona is still an amazing singer which i think should be noticed when so many in the industry cant sing!

Based on these performances alone, it is VERY CLEAR Charice did a better job. It's weird to say it but Charice's performance is comparable to Whitney's, which is just amazing. But to be fair to Leona, Whitney's songs and style is better suited for Charice than for Leona. Nevertheless, Charice reminds me of the great legends while Leona is just a very very good singer

Back in the late 80's, I was fortunate to hear Whitney live and in her prime. I thought that, for the rest of my life, I will never hear anyone compare to her. I've heard Celine, Mariah, Barbra, Leona, Ann Wilson, Martina McBride, and Patty Labelle live, also (yes, I like concerts). All were good to great in concert, but still not Whitney. Then, on Oct. 28, 2009 in Atlanta, everything changed. At the DF and Friends show, Charice blew me away. She was beyond amazing. She is truly the "next one".

Leona has a better voice overall. She had more control and has a greater vocal range. Charice is undoubtably a great singer. Her voice is veryyy mature for her age. Leona had more emotion in the song as well. The falsetto runs were more suited for leona as well. One of the judges said it was as good as the original whitney version.
Hmm, Charice is a great singer. But to be honest, I think Leona and Charice have different styles in a way. Charice has more of a Whitney Houston edge about her, while Leona is more of a Mariah Carey.

Actually, I've got to say that I like Leona's voice more. I find Charice's voice a bit too heavy sometimes, as if she is very pushing and, therefore, imitating Whitney. I like Leona because she is so authentic and she has a voice which has a lighter and more comfortable sound. That's my opnion. Nevertherless, Charice is also very, very good singer!

Leona's lower register is very thin; it lacks the full body so characteristic of Whitney Houston's and Charice's voices in any range. Leona had a noticeable sharp in the instant between 3:14 and 3:15, and her vibrato is rather uncomfortable to listen to. Charice has sung this song many times, each one more impressive than the previous. The power in her voice and ability to change the riffs mid-performance make it clear that Charice is more comparable to Whitney than Leona is, at least right now.

OMG are you all tone deaf!? Theres is no comparison between the 2. Charice has got jack shit on Leona! Charice conveys no sense of what the lyrics actually mean. She sings through her nose and sounds constipated. Leona is so much better, full of emotion. And seen as its Whitneys songs and she recently quoted 'Leona is like a young version of me' I think Leona has the upper hand. Charice has a rubbish range, she cannot sing falsetto or reach the higher notes, she just eats the microphone haha :)

Charice has wider vocal range. In this song you can tell that charice has lower register and higher register vocals than Leona. Not to mention that Charice has bigger voice than her having said that i'm also a big fan of leona.

I agree charice's version was better, but i have just seen the full leona lewis video when she was on the x-factor and she had laryngitis at the time when she sang that song, so not bad! but generally charice does sing better, but leaona is still an amazing singer which i think should be noticed when so many in the industry cant sing!

It also makes a lot of sense to compare Leona and Charice because they are the top vocalists of these few years. Both are amazing.

Based on these performances alone, it is VERY CLEAR Charice did a better job. It's weird to say it but Charice's performance is comparable to Whitney's, which is just amazing. But to be fair to Leona, Whitney's songs and style is better suited for Charice than for Leona. Nevertheless, Charice reminds me of the great legends while Leona is just a very very good singer

Back in the late 80's, I was fortunate to hear Whitney live and in her prime. I thought that, for the rest of my life, I will never hear anyone compare to her. I've heard Celine, Mariah, Barbra, Leona, Ann Wilson, Martina McBride, and Patty Labelle live, also (yes, I like concerts). All were good to great in concert, but still not Whitney. Then, on Oct. 28, 2009 in Atlanta, everything changed. At the DF and Friends show, Charice blew me away. She was beyond amazing. She is truly the "next one".

Leona has a better voice overall. She had more control and has a greater vocal range. Charice is undoubtably a great singer. Her voice is veryyy mature for her age. Leona had more emotion in the song as well. The falsetto runs were more suited for leona as well. One of the judges said it was as good as the original whitney version.

Hmm, Charice is a great singer. But to be honest, I think Leona and Charice have different styles in a way. Charice has more of a Whitney Houston edge about her, while Leona is more of a Mariah Carey.
Leona to me does bring more emotion to the song, simply because she is older. I just personally think that Leona performance-wise, has more to give.
