help!! i don't know of this is good or bad but i have bought recently a levitron. At first i plugged in the platform and put my globe to position (succesfully rotating). After 1 or 2 minutes i turned off the power (the lights were turned off) and the globe still rotates for half an hour now!! does levitron really needs ac power?? is that harmful for the magnets?? any opinions???

@ventetas The levitron does not need any power whatsoever. The electricity is simply to power the lights, and I doubt the current powering those small lights would create enough of an electromagnetic feild to disturb the balence of the reppeling magnets.

Nope. It requires power for levitation. The item demonstrated in this video isn't actually the levitron top, which relies on precession for stability via high angular momentum. The floating earth in this video is made by the same company, but relies on a different method of levitation known as computer controlled levitation (CCL) which makes minor corrections to the electromagnetic field every second. That's why the globe does not need to spin at a high rate like the levitron does.
