They and The Lemonheads made Boston the town to watch if you liked Huser-Du type punk. A great band I saw play in a freaking hallway alcove in Washington DC!
Just had the opportunity to chat with Chuck Freeman of Moving Targets and Kenny Chambers via Myspace. What can i say - absolutely gents and great persons to talk with. Can't praise 'em enough. Catched 'em live in Hamburg in 1990. Impressive show. Remarkable moment: Drummer Pat Brady had his drumset in his bare hands when he got onstage and drummed like hell. Along with Husker Du and Minutemen MT was maybe the most powerful three-piece unit in hardcore wasteland ever.
Yeah, I chatted with Kenny on myspace, lovely guy! I didn't realise until years later that I saw him play with Bullet Lavolta when they played with the Lemonheads at a tiny place in Newport wales. The Moving Targets were my favourite band at the time, taking over from where Husker Du left off.
It was at TJ's (?) There was an Italian family that ran the place that would always cook the bands a slap up meal after they soundchecked. Bullet lavolta blew The Lemonheads away that night. I really liked early Lemonheads though. There must've only been 50 people in the audience. Bullet lavolta were shit hot. I chatted with Yukki Gipe and their drummer. Just wish I'd known Kenny was the other guitarist.
Dude they played friday and saturday night! Check the WMBR broadcast archive for 7/13 10am, late riser's club, Targets start at about the 38:40 mark. A truly awesome set, new stuff and old.
yeah i hadnt heard from them in awhile but just today i was reading yesterdays bostons metro and found out that they played sat. at the paradise with buffalo tom. that must have been a great show thanks for the heads up
