  • I can see that he really loved a woman... <3

  • I'm the one listening to this and I make more faces than he does ._.

  • When he's in the zone...he's spectacular.

  • yes

  • purtroppo si :,(

  • 8==D~

  • Lord have mercy

  • musical orgasm :P

    *PORTUGAL*

  • WOW! Clapton at his best- I love it when he does the blues. And i love it when he really lets go and gives a full throttle guitar solo. So often he seems to calm it down, but this is raw and emotional. Great stuff! This and Groaning the Blues are my favourite Clapton tracks.

  • 11 people need to have their eardrums ripped out an never hear again

  • Hear me, my God !!! I appreciate your music

  • Wow, just tripped over this one!! What a line up with Steve Gadd and Nathan East. Can't see why they called Eric "Slowhand"!! Stunning

  • oo the GOD !!!

  • Lace Sensors!

  • Beautiful

  • Linda'

  • legend xxx

  • Blackie is cool. I see pictures w a dark blue/gray axe that looks way cooler.

  • @tallorder9

"Blackie" looks as cool as it gets! A battle scarred legend just like Eric is...

  • @tallorder9 actually that is not blackie, it's just another black strat. blackie is much more "roadworn"

  • @MrLaserprint I'm referring to the Strat on the cover of The Cream of Clapton LP.They show it on a Let it Rain vid

    (you tube)

  • @tallorder9 ok coolio

  • @John525C my mistake, mate! :D

  • ole slow hand at it. the amount of feeling and passion in this can only be expressed by Claptons sheer perfection at the blues. simple yet stylish. this is the blues. no tricks, gimmicks, or effects. just a guitar, amp, and a GOD. this is what the blues is all about. Chills down my spine everytime.

  • My favorite Clapton song! Beautifully played! Doesn't get much better than that!

  • greatgreatgreat!

  • I wonder how many of you know that another ex bluesbreakers guitarist, namely Peter Green, covered this, and another tremendous show of British talent it is too. Here on you tube.

  • Perfection

  • Also listen to the youtube of this song in Budokan, Japan. Fantastic!

  • When Eric plays the solos for those 2 songs 'Have you ever loved a woman' & 'Old love' he shows to people how amazing Mr. Slowhand is. Can't stop listening to these songs, I had the honor to watch him in a live concert (here in Abu Dhabi), he is simply unbelievable.

    God Bless.

  • turockandar

It's just his style. Clapton plays from the heart which anyone who knows how to really play will tell you is where it counts from. He is genius enough to know that sometimes less is more and is not too proud to sit back and let the musical story unfold untill he needs to step it up.. This is'nt some heavy metal geek born overnight. This stuff takes a lifetime of love and commitment to achieve. Listen to the albumn 24 Nights Live at the Albert Hall. Brilliant examples

  • @co131091 I totally agree! 24 Nights at the RAH is one of my favorites. I saw him play in 1998 in Los Angeles, and "Old Love" was just incredible. I saw him play in 2077 twice and also in 2011. No one has the same touch on the guitar as E.C. does. Not even SRV, though I would say he was close. I really think Clapton has redefined himself as one of the world's best bluesmen, after a huge career in popular rock music. He really deserves more credit in the blues genre.

  • very greatful for this

  • he rocks on this song ha george!!!!!!!!!!! exscuse me harrison

  • he rocks on this song ha george!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To all you Clapton fans please explain to me how the guy can play such great blues then have such a lack of deunde, fire and power in most of the rest of his playing? I am not saying this to be disrespectful I am truly befuddled.

  • The best version i have seen of this song on You Tube.

  • 10 people have never loved a woman.

  • @samysalmi My mistake, mate (:

  • There is so much soul in this how could anyone dislike it. 9 people don't deserve to have Youtube accounts!

  • ECgives me goosebumps!

  • I play a black standard strat with a maple neck - at least if I can't play like Clapton I can look like him.

Great blues tone on this track.

  • He wrote this for Pattie Boyd :') <3

  • @Creepra Billy Myles wrote this song**

  • @Creepra Billy Miles wrote the song, Clapton made it famous!

  • That may be the best 36 bar intro, especially the middle 12 bars, every played.

  • "Slowhand" var det ja!

  • Clapton's legend is built on live solos. He knows where to take it, where to leave space, where to stop, where to dig in, and make it all sound seamless. He is king of on-the-spot blues solos. Studio is something else. Live--Clapton is master. (Another version of same by Mick Taylor is equally awesome, until he goes over the top with too many notes and looses listeners in excess. Less is more.

  • i am ashamed ive gone 20 years of my life without discovering clapton. Time to make up for it!

  • Eliptic epic shit

  • I am now 58, divorced, no kids at home, no GF, no pets and no livestock to feed. My time is mine. I am buying a guitar and amp and intend to learn to play. This man wil be my guide. What recommendations do you afficianados have for equipment?

Ideally, I would like a Marshall Amp and speaker stack, but they are tubed and todays' world, ain't. I'd lie a Stratocaster, but have no idea what they cost. What ALL does Eric use?

  • @dbreed53

Hey man, it´s great you want to start out! I don´t know what others will suggest, but there are Strat copies out there that are great for beginning - intermediate levels. Check out some videos on the tube. Also, there´s the used guitar way, of course. And for an amp...in my opinion, check out the Champion 600 reissue. That´s the one I want to get myself. Small, perfect for practice, and Fender tube tone! Also, it´s the same Clapton originally used to record Layla (the album).

  • @dbreed53 First off, congrats on getting into this. Guitar is my true love and it's treated me well. I have a squier strat that I've been playing for so long that Fender's just dont feel right. I payed 100 bucks for it, then I got a peavey vypyr modeling amp (75watt) for 300. If you put it on tube screamer through the deluxe or plexi setting you get an awesome clapton tone. I use it for SRV, Clapton, Hendrix and all my other blues covers.

  • He is simply - THE BEST!!!

Eric you just get better with age!

    Rock on.

  • john mayer is good...damn good...but he can't quite pull off this number.

  • CLAPTON IS GOD!!

  • claptons early stuff from bluesbreakers/cream/blind faith ect is all amazing but from round about 2002 -2008 clapton was on form absoloutly mind blowing !

  • The man does know how to plays some blues on that strat.

  • en octubre este groso viene a Argentina. dios mio lo que va aser esooooo

  • Clapton disliked this 10 times because he doesnt give a fuck

  • Junger Herr du meine Güte!

  • Yes!! There is a REASON why Clapton is God!!!

  • @bluesman368 no. but really... The Freddy King live version just pisses all over this.

    Clapton would agree.

  • Simply stunning!

  • His tone is awesome really! Something deep inside of you...

  • How can a man who has become such a NERDY looking guy still make such sweet, SWEET music!?

  • When you know how to play a guitar well and play how your fealing it can be a real moving experiance. When your happy it shows when your angry you can play the heck out of it and when your sad or in longing for someone that you just can;t have you pour your whole heart and soul and it almost makes you wanna cry.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR.SLOWHAND !!!

  • the band is talking at 1:13 about how good clapton is.

  • I can't believe how great Eric plays this song. When he starts playing those solos, I don't ever want it to end. I could listen to a 10 minute solo no problem.

No overplaying, no showboating, just doing it in style.

  • Incredible. I can count on one hand the number of people who can do this.

  • the man behind eric clapton on 1:18 said "oh my god"

  • This has quickly become my favorite version. By the way, what's the bass player's name? He's great!

  • 9 people are into rap.

  • the great man just keeps getting better and better with age

Layla and assorted love songs is a timeless masterpiece in my book and the guitar work still sounds amazing today.

  • He's hot!

  • hey devil , here's my soul - make me play like this!

  • are 9 people on crack

  • Yea, they don't call him the Journeyman for nothing. In my opinion, hands down, bar none, the best guitar player out there.

  • Amazing....Amazing.....he just melds with the guitar, and in this video you can see it clearly. This video captures his sound and the intensity with which he plays like no other posted on YouTube......OMG, he is king of the blues.

  • MY FAVORITE CLAPTON SONG OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST VERSION I HAVE EVER SEEN AND I HAVE SEEN HIM 6 TIMES SINCE 1972 THANKS

  • 6:08 Was that intended? Sound like the drummer fall to the floor... LOL

  • @ctyuang The drummer Steve Gadd just added it ...he is a master.....he played drums for James Taylor...Paul Simon......and many more...

  • oh eric, u've killed me with that intro...

  • The swingingest penis in town, boys.

  • the solo is crazy the best ever Eric Clapton made music

  • His tone is fucking ridiculous.

  • @TMMSfanCLUB maybe you have some problems with your ears

  • @Feelyman ridiculous is a good thing.

  • Perfect!

  • 5:23 , oops haha

  • anybody thats says he lost it is an idiot. period.

  • This is fsking brilliant. This is God.

  • love it!oh mama .............

  • I am a Clapton fan since 1974 & learned how to play guitar along with EC records. I own a custom shop EC signature strat as well. I am happy to see people become instant fans after seeing this video. Clapton deserves the kudo's.

    Long live EC.

  • @solorising ya im 17 and just got the layla album by accident. Completely changed my view on music and blues. Im really getting into EC now

  • @petie58, I was about 17 myself when I got into Clapton. I actually learned to play by copying EC songs. He is the best to learn from because he keeps things in thier basic forms that you can foolow & learn from. .

  • @solorising Check out the opening solo on this song from One more car one more rider.! If you like this it's a must see!

  • @solorising you should really cover one of his songs with that guitar, i had a stab at layla and sunshine.

  • @solorising me again haha, if you do a cover of this then ill do one of what you want. cause this song is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo chillled.

  • @solorising in your opinion is the strat worth what you paid for it against say a les paul ? Standard clapton strats go for about £1400. man i want one...

  • @gazzaboy2531977

I Love my EC custom shop strat! If you like the compressed creamy sustatined sound that EC gets you will like this guitar. Of course it sounds like a basic strat without the 25dbx boost turned up. So it is pretty versitile.

A Les paul or an EC Strat. Tough call! But for me (big EC fan) I can sound just like him through my Fender Blues Jr. & his signature strat.. I am doing a EC tribute band so this really works for me!

  • 6.08 is just great.

i really didn't expect that fill, steve gadd is really a great drummer

    even nathan east is surprised

  • Slowhand, genius! This is such a great version of this song!

  • Pure genius, he is a god!!

  • eric you are wonderful

  • Killer guitarist!!!!

  • @dessibella YOU WANNA HEAR A KILLER GUITARIST?

    CHECK OUT STEVE PATI

  • Speechless. No words.

  • Clapton is a great blues guitarist, but he aint even close to being a pioneer. Just because he's good doesn't make him a pioneer. If you think the blues was only from the 60s till now you are sadly mistaken. People like BB King, Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters are the real pioneers.

  • A millions of likes

  • Amazing display of what true "Musicianship" is all about. This absolutely burns emotions into my soul... which no words can convey!!!

  • Amazing display of what "true" Muscianship is all about. This absolutely burns emotions into my soul... which no words can convey!!!

  • @HuntressRoxx beautifully said

  • Anyone got a backing track? Please let me know! Thanks!

  • Exscellent bluesman, a like SRV, Buddy Gay, Carlos Santana, Alan Iglesias. MIke Zito

  • A well played guitar speaks for itself, I don't know why popular culture revolves around stupid lyrics/music aka Lady Gaga.

  • the lad remembers everything I taught him.

  • It doesn't get ANY BETTER, than Eric Clapton singing and playing The Blues!

  • i always keep coming back to this. simply stunning!

  • the blues machine

  • 7 People were so over stunned that they excedentely pushed the dislike botton. can you blame theme?

  • a guitar can more say than 1000 words

  • @Tenderness55 but Eric's can say 10000 more

  • this is very true. women, makes men crazy.

  • what a band tho also !!

  • do his eyes even open during the intro !!

  • simply the best

  • Oh and i forgot to ask, is this avilable on DVD or something like that? I'd love to watch the whole gig in TV.

  • Pure emotion. That's what i love in blues and in Clapton.

  • There are people on YouTube that try and make the case that Derek Trucks is better than Eric Clapton. Derek is great, but he can't play like this.

  • @atty1chgo Derick Trucks is wayway overated in my opinion. Not even close to EC. Or Duane Allman who he tries to imitate on slide.

  • Clapton is God!!!!

  • Isn't He Brilliant !!!

    LIIIKE VERY MUCH...

    Kurt

  • Eric is too much.... isn't he?

  • the Dewrek and the Dominoes Layla album is his best

  • Killer indeed! And Gadd is way deep in the pocket.....:)

  • nice nice nice
