  • best!! classsic!!!

  • This is a masterpiece of Rock . . . perfect 'going out' funeral music, yup. I hope my friends get the initiative to play it for me . . . sounds exactly like you're getting spun out into outer space. Move over Timothy Leary . . .

  • When I die & I hope it won't be soon, I want this song played first at my last concert. Definitely Maybe will be next to last followed by Little Martha from The Allman Brothers Band

  • How Many More Times

  • happy birthday john paul jones

  • I'm just getting addicted to Jeff Beck, and let me say this...HE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS OF ALL TIME!! I think i might purchase the Truth album some time :)

  • I'm soooo happy, I can't believe I actually met Jeff Beck tonight. I've been waiting since I was 14. I missed him play at the 02 areana, the trip got cancelled the day before. I'm completely in my glory right now. Dont' ever let anyone ever get in the way of seeing your favourite artists play unless it's an emergency...never ever a boyfriend ever again. ....My all time favourite Jeff Beck song!

  • Pay attention, kiddoes. This is where Led Zeppelin started.

  • paullubliner; You can call Eric Clapton a rock guitarist of course, but he will always be a bluesman! We all have our opinions. I also consider Jeff Beck the same way, a rock guitarist, and a bluesman!I will say this, Jeff Becks "Truth" album, with Rod Stewart on vocals, is on my list of top 10 favorite albums, of all time!

  • No one has mention something very important here. The only vocals are when Keith Moon loses it. This is so good compositionally that it doesn't need words, so it is not a "song" as songs by definition require words. That makes this that much more than a mere song, this is MUSIC!

  • Becks Bolero > Ravels Bolero ... just saying..

  • There will always be controversy as to who the greatest guitarist of all time is? But , there is one guy out there, who I believe should be pretty much free of harsh criticism, and that would be Eric Clapton! And he is definitely right up there with the very best! His body of work speaks for itself, I know every bit of his music, from the time he came to the Yardbirds, up to now!! His longevity shows pure talent and never ending versatility! This man can play!!! Jeff Beck is also very talented!

  • @stanblues1 You mean ROCK guitarist.

  • @stanblues1clapton is average player

  • @stanblues1 beck is extrodinaire

  • Just plain great

  • Oh Beck, you came into my life flying (8)

  • This masterpiece never fails to amaze me

  • At 1:31, 25 March 1967, The birth of world's first Heavy Metal....

  • @naveengta: The track was recorded May 16-17, 1966.

  • @naveengta you g2 hate people who seek metal in r'n'r this is just r'n'r go listen to rammstein or whateva

  • why is there a rap advertisement next to a classic rock video? what has this world come to?

  • What I wouldn't give to be in Jimmy Page's head for 10 minutes. Rock-genius.

  • @maxcohen13 I agree but this is a Jeff Beck's video.

  • @alexstrozzi12 Jimmy wrote this song for Jeff's birthday when they were younger.

  • @detechnology I see, thanks for the info.

  • @alexstrozzi12

What you're hearing was written by Jimmy Page, my friend.

  • @maxcohen13 Beck and Page have different viewpoints on this....but it seems to be agreed that Page played the 12 string acoustic for the rhythm and Jeff played the electric guitar solo and the slide guitar....knowing the ego of guitarists, I find it hard to believe that Jeff would have played a solo over Jimmy's rhythm that wasn't his own creation...I have a feeling that it was a great collaboration.

  • Someday, when my time comes...I wanna die listening to this song.

  • Keith Moon pure fucking genius.

Greatest drummer ever who played in the greatest band ever, The Who!

  • @oberfour1 Micky Waller on drums here.

  • @oberfour1 Sorry. You're right. How could I have forgot that? Slainte.

  • they seriously wasted 3 hours of moon's time on this?

  • @ledZeppelin7680 congrats, the dumbest comment i read today

  • @johnisallin so what, I'm supposed to feel sorry that you listen to bad music?

  • @ledZeppelin7680 *yawn*

  • @ledZeppelin7680 And how much time do you waste trolling?

  • @TheGreatStonedOne looks like you don't waste much time on thinking, otherwise you'd probably figure out what words mean before you use them.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 So you're literally so moronic that you couldn't think of an intelligent response to my (very rhetorical) question, and thus you stole the basic idea behind my response and then commenced to add words that have literally no bearing on anything I said. If you're too thick to realize that your opinion doesn't mean anything to anyone, take it to another video because obviously no one wants to put up with your idiocy here.

  • @TheGreatStonedOne literally? no not literally, just figuratively. I'm glad you consider your youtube comments to be a form of art, then virtually accuse people of plagiarism when they mock you.

  • Eargasm

  • Lyrics for Beck's Bolero:

    RRRRAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!!!!!! 1:30

  • @goldenchopsticks courtesy of Keith Moon :)

  • @goldenchopsticks that is the coolest quote ever!

  • @goldenchopsticks HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAhahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahah !!!!!! :'D

  • @goldenchopsticks, that is Keith Moon screaming. He played drums on this instrumental.

  • @blasphemator What i meant was that the WHOLE of the first album is ripped of except good time bad times because jones wrote it....

  • @blasphemator I was already aware of all of these....

  • @blasphemator You forgot whole lot a love....

  • @blasphemator Only led zeppelin I was a rip off

  • all star line-up.. people whom i would dream of all being in the same room together..

  • EPIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I believe there are only a few pioneering guitar players in this world. These are the ones that stand out from the others, they have a distinct style. The question that has to be asked is, did anyone play that way before them? Eric Clapton, Leslie West, Jimi Hendricks, Eddie Van Halen. Jeff Beck, has such a unique style, that you have to consider him a genius.

  • POWER!

  • One of my Jeff Beck favourites.

  • play this during my eulogy

  • My quintessential rock anthem.

  • one of the best guitar players ever

  • keith moons the greatest drummer ever !

  • It's Unfortunate That Keith's Playing Is Turned Down So Much. I've Heard The Original Mix And It's Amazing!

  • @liscrisprod post that shit!!

  • For Drofimao: 'Beck's Bolero' ('66) predates Truth ('68). It was produced and written by Page (though Beck disputes the writing, indicating that while Page had the bolero rhythm, the rest was his. This track apparently came about when the Yardbirds management requested Page pull together something to keep Jeff busy. And it was Moon who said the line-up (there was talk of it becoming a band until the Who's management threatened Moon) would go down like a lead balloon in America. Thus... Led Zep.

  • Wow, this was from 1968? This is freakin timeless

  • @xDroflmao1337 I was born in '65 and remember babysitters, in the late '60s - early '70s, playing this, The Beatles, Led Zepp and Creedance and others. Yeah, THIS was from 1968?? THIS song? THIS style? Holy cow I get goose bumps!

  • This is rather epic.

It also sounds much like absolutely epic music from in a particularly epic video game, which I mean as quite a compliment to this song and to all of those behind it and rather directly involved in it.

  • This song has made me cry.....Now Thats A SONG ! - Thanks Jeff - GB

  • I love Keith Moon's scream.

  • Greatest line-up ever, and pretty heavy for it's time too.

  • BTW I've had this album since 7th grade. And I NEVER thought it was Led Zeppelin.

  • Nicky Hopkins!!!!

  • doodoodoodoo dooo doodoodooodooooooooooo

    waaaaaaaaargh bang bang bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang

    bombombodombombombom

  • Led Zeppelin in all but name....

  • @henrytdsimmons Everyone's entiled to their own opinion...as I am to mine. What?! Are you friggin' nuts??? Gimme some of that shit you're on!

  • @singersimon1 Page is playing guitar..... Jones is on bass...... And moon is on drums! Keith moon was very similar to John Bonham in his style... So yes, this is basically led zeppelin.

  • @henrytdsimmons It's just as much Yardbirds as Led Zeppelin, and definitely more Jeff Beck.

  • 1:55 -2:05 is the best E to A chord change EVER ....absolutley MAGICAL

  • Page is a genius for having written this.

  • the middle sounds like Joe Walsh's "Bolero" from The Bomber....both excellent choices, btw.

  • @rowdymax1 Joe nicked it, but then added the actual Ravel Bolero and Vince Guaraldi tune. Of course we all know Page ripped off this for How Many More Times

  • How I missed this song during my drunken college days listening to Led Zeppelin, I have no clue. But I am so glad I randomly found this song 20 years later. I've been visiting youtube nightly just to get my fix on this song over and over again. Insanely great song. Wow.

  • @deljzc: Lucky NOT to have missed it........... in my BC and sailor days.........especially with some weed and some quality headphones........or just good drink the right lady(ies).

  • Mad scientist with a guitar.

  • Mad scientist with a guitar. I heard him live at the Lakeland Civic center. It was the first concert held there. They tore down the Civic Center years ago.

  • Jimmy Page wrote this song.

  • @MiamiSouthPaw No, he only wrote the rhythm section. And it's a reference to ravel's Bolero anyway.

  • @MiamiSouthPaw

Beck says he 'wrote' it, not Page. Likelihood is Page had the chords and structure, but really, it's Jeff's heavy riffing and slide that really make this thing smoke. Thank goodness Keith Moon, John Paul Jones and Nicky Hopkins - along with Page - were the other players. They knew how to kick it up, make it exciting but still be dynamic. Still a killer tune 44 years later.

  • @MiamiSouthPaw he used a bolero rhythm on how many more times roy orbison used one on running scared both had a song called communication breakdown

  • If you think that there are many guitarists better than Beck, SORRY BUT YOU'RE TERRIBLELY WRONG! Nobody is better than this motherfucker!

  • @MrDERRISSONISRAEL ha uh jimi hendrix no doubt hands down

  • @MrDERRISSONISRAEL Couldn't have said it better myself if I had tried to. LOL!

  • this song is too short

  • Geez. Throughout my teens, I used to play along with this album over and over till the wee hours of the morning before finally collapsing from exhaustion (and other things ;) Brings back such great memories.

  • @slickvguy Unfortunately, the only memory I have of this song is listening to it 10 times in the last 2 hours. And I wasn't high either!

  • this is what is playing in my head all the time....my spirit soars.....in spite of it all. This is my brain on life.

  • @TheSpottyBody "..Soars..." -truly :)

  • @70sForever. I still love the older music like Beck's, the 60's, and late 70's-early 80's being my fave time periods. But not the only ones. There is good music being made today. The regular, corporate stations aren't playing it. Acts like: St. Vincent, Gogol Bordello, Delta Spirit, Fleet Foxes, Midlake, The Sadies, The Divine Comedy and Eugene McGuinness are some of the better acts out there now. Good thing we have places like YouTube to make our own discoveries and program our own music.

  • my dad was 10 years old when this came out. he said it was amazing.. and i just couldnt picture a 10 year old listening to this. but then i got to thinking, i was 10 years old listening to zeppelin, beatles, hendrix, van halen, eric johnson, clapton, and joe satriani. now being almost 22, im glad i chose to listen to those musicians when i was 10, instead of most of the crap my friends were listening to. to this day im still on my own music bandwagon, and proud of it. my poppa tought me well. :)

  • @nikki82417 - Excellent - just talking about how music has degenerated. I hate to be the one to say that my generation's music was so much better than those that followed but, unfortunately it's true! Nice that you know the difference at your age. I can't figure out why this young group of musicians suck so bad. Doesn't make sense to me - oh - and their sensitive about it!

  • 'Beck's Bolero' was actually written by Jimmy Page. So how did Jimmy Page come to write 'Beck's Bolero'? 'Well, with some difficulty and largely without me! He had heard me play in the studio after hours - in those days there was a lot of naughty recording sessions going on late at night. We would do this crap single for someone in about ten minutes then we'd leave the gear set up and have some fun! I fell in love with Jim's playing 'cause we spoke the same language

  • @ndb1971 - Okay - and you are? ? Jeff Beck?

  • @ndb1971 Thank you. My soul on life.

  • I wore down the grooves on this song and the needle wouldn't stay in ... Bought the 8 track next and wore it out in my first car, hahaha

  • never knew about Moon

  • PURE ECSTASTIC, SURREAL, PULSATING.

    leading to other dimensions!!!!

JEFF BECK IS AWESOME TO THE MAX!!!!!

    5 STARS! THUMBS UP!!!

  • wow, what a masterpiece

  • and dont forget Ravel's bolero

  • Why wasn't this a hit?! Idiot A&R people!

  • @ausgang God only knows, there wasn't much of his music that anyone could call bad.

  • this song rocks so hard !!!

  • jeff has the true sound that no one can ever duplicate, not duane allman, not jimmy page, not jimi hendrix. i've heard all the greats here on you tube play live and jeff pulls it off better than anyone. he is simply more talented and skilled than the others. his riffs are like a math problem that no one can solve.

  • Lets not forget about "Peter green"!

  • Comment removed

  • page wasnt in this. jones was as a highered studio hand, but not page.

  • @Xception2Rule this was Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, JPJ, Nicky Hopkins and Jeff Beck dude. Sorry to break it to ya.

  • I dont feel at home in this generation i wish i grew up in the 60's!

  • @HeyyyGuyyy

I grew up in the late 60's early 70's and had an awe some time, can't say I blame you. The best music EVER was made then and the shows were incredible. When I was young I always knew it was gonna suck to get old and I was right, but the music never changes

  • @mrstenify you could always have had born before the 60's, now that would have sucked...

  • @sigimaster14 1954, that puts me a 16 in 1970, sure I'm an old fart, but I have memories of some of the best times from an ERA that is History.

  • @mrstenify awww, I always did wish I grew up in the 70's, everything seemed so cool back then, I mean this generations music isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be, really besides most of the trash they play on the radio these days there's plenty of gems hidden here and there, but nothing stands up to all the incredible work of your generation

  • This song reminds me of How Many More Times by Led Zeppelin.

  • IVE NEVER HEARD A SONG LIKE THIS EVER

  • It seems I cannot go one night without jammin to this song at work... FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

  • bloody amazing,,always was,,always will you just had to be there,,the sixty's that is

  • this is amazing, and im a beck fan, great old stuff

  • My #1 mood and rally cut in college......and a reminder of time at sea and sailing through Hurricane Camille in 1969.....Loaded......60,000 barrels!!

  • This song is HEROIC. Really...it makes me think of great deeds and endless possibilities (even if I myself am just some fucking nobody...).

Beck's never made a better song, before or since.

  • Hey, be a hero in your own life, a quiet hero - day by day, good deeds can be done, people's lives can be made better by your influence - not everyone's a warrior, a world of warriors would be full of blood - some quiet heros have to keep the peace as it should be kept

and hey, that's St Paddy talkin', channeled through a bushmills glass :)

& back to the point: Beck's a fuckin' unique guitarist, got a style all his own -- Kudos to Jeff!

  • @SupernalOne Good sentiment and true, reminds me of a Rush song- who by the way also are great admirers of Jeff Beck. This song is amazing!!

  • @SupernalOne BUSHMILLS YES!!

  • @SupernalOne I dont know who you are but I love and here you,YES, Yes, Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The actual lineup on that album was

    Jeff Beck-guitar

    Rod Stewart-vocals

    Ron Wood-bass

    Mick Waller-drums

    Nicky Hopkins-piano

    J.P. Jones-organ

Off the back of the album cover

  • Yes, but in this song the lineup is:

    Beck-Guitar

    Page-12 String Guitar

    Moon-Drums

    Jones-Bass

    Hopkins-Piano

  • This is almost the famous Moon`s Lead Zeppelin project, only John Etwistle is absent.

  • Is this the take with Moon, Page, and John Paul Jones? I think that was released on as a single. The lineup could have been led Zep.

  • @Jackts9999 That's intense.

  • @taxmonkey - Yeah this was the blueprint for Led Zeppelin .

  • Jeff Beck electric guitar

    Jimmy Page 12-string guitar

    Nicky Hopkins keyboards

    John Paul Jones bass guitar

    Keith Moon drums

Now there's a fucking dream team if I ever saw one!

  • Screw that put John Entwistle on bass, the Ox was a master. (no offense JPJ he's great too)

  • @superlou1s

John Entwistle was actually supposed to play, but things got in the way (most likely because Pete Townshend, he was already mad at Jeff Beck for stealing Keith from them), so they hired JPS instead.

  • Yeah I know, someone was talking about their dream group.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, love this tune since the day I heard it. xxx.ooo

  • where have i heard this? probably a commercial i think, or movies it sounds like moies music. im listening to see what i have to measure up to because ive been trying to make instrumental guitar music lately and jeff is one of the all-time greates in that area

  • With Jimmy Page and Keith Moon folks

  • And John Paul Jones! It was gonna be John Entwistle but he couldn't make it

  • Best insturmental ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • was beck apart of the yard birds, i cant remember,

  • Yes when they played in Phoenix June Smith drove them around town, they were fascinated with "Hot Rod!" cars on Central. Another thing that amazed him was June's Chicken Pot Pie. Jeff kept saying "Pot Pie?" Oh..."Meat Pie!"

  • yeah the full nine yards part....

  • yup

  • Yes

  • sure was

  • wow! i can´t believe this was made back in -68.. sounds so ahead of its time

  • Beck's Bolero was recorded in '66, not with the other tracks on Truth. The line up was the original Lead Zeppelin *note spelling* as in going over like a Lead Zeppelin because they couldn't find a singer.

  • @zedice....yeah, your right, nicky hopkins, the same guy that played on alot of the rolling stones stuff.....like Angie,....i read that he died a few years ago, died a young guy to !

  • is that john paul jones on the piano ?

  • @ronnied828 No - it's Nicky Hopkins. JPJ is playing bass.

  • its a rock progression standard

  • @selby06

It was Led Zeppelin before they were Led Zeppelin, it's some of the greatest rock musicians of all time collaborating, and it sounds very advanced for a 1966 record.

  • cause its got a superstar lineup, (page, moon, beck, jpj...

  • This sounds like a huge influence on progressive rock.

  • Yeah, this reminds me of some Pre-Darkside of the Moon Pink Floyd

  • @coldcomfort79 Yep, that slide guitar went right onto Meddle from the sound of it.
