@mdupeYorkPa A person can not know about war if he isn't there himself. No matter how many books he read, no matter the Documentaries, Films, Movies he watched etc.
Why do I understand?. Well it's cuz there's an active war taking place in my country and strangely It's following me very closely, Slowly Killing me not by wounds or bullets but mentally.
@PeaceKeeper271 Everything you say is probably true. I don't know. I can tell you that the VA here tries to reach and help as many of those with PTSD as possible. I get help due to herbicide (Agent Orange) exposure.
@mdupeYorkPa By Agent Orange you mean that Forest destroying gas right. The thing the planes Sprayed on various areas of the jungle so that there were less places for Charlie to hide, I heard that the goddawm country was 4/5th Jungle
I read somewhere that the VC also bombed a hotel where the Air Force pilots used to stay. I think It was during President Johnson's period, when he was refraining them from bombing North Vietnam.
If I'm correct then President Lyndon Johnson's son-in-law also served in Vietnam right.?
@mdupeYorkPa No problem Sir. Now there was this another funny incident. A soldier achieved what the combined power of USAF and arty couldn't, without even a single casualty.
It was dry season, offensive time against VC. The Brass got info that there was a big VC base in the Jungle so they ordered the army boys to assemble outside the Jungle and get ready to attack. Now this "Special" soldier used to drink cigarettes. He carelessly discarded a cigarette and started a bushfire, sweet.
@mdupeYorkPa Of Course, many Tales of Valor have been unreported, due to the media supporting Ho Chi. The media guys didn't even name him. Ah I remember a quote from NAM (For the VC).
"Never have so few
Been so foul
To So many".
I saw a NAM photo in one of my books in which it was written on the back of a truck.
@mdupeYorkPa President Johnson used to listen to his son-in-law's recordings (of his military service in NAM). The President had an emotional breakdown due to this too.
I think there's a photo of this too. I still somewhat remember it cuz I saw it in a book of mine.
@PeaceKeeper271 I was not aware of this. You seem to be studying things well. I am unaware of a lot of things because there was a period of time when I was ignoring everything after I was there. Call it self defense.
i went to the welcome home vietnam vets that chicago hosted in the 80s having lost an uncle and a cousin in vietnam it was a goddamm disgrace they way the men and women who served in the war were treated
the way veitnam vets were treated after the war waas auful...they killed men women childern to make a better world for us back in america...and we didnt aprisheat for them fighting in that hell hole
Are you still remember during Tet 1968, North Vietnam troops attacked South Vietnam. Specially, Ho ordered to kill over 5 thousand civilians in Hue! Ho pushed one hundred thousand young soldiers to be KIA in the south. Only Khe Sanh battle, Ho's troops was killed seven thousand soldiers. Even Ho won the Vietnam War by US withdrawn, but now can Vietnam defeat if China invading? I hope Vietnam Communist Party win again!
People say the North Vietnamese weren't the bad guys and that they were just defending their land. Well the North invaded the South and killed almost 1 million civilians. What about that is "light hearted defenders of their land"?
when I see these movies, I think the Vietnamese people with every difficulty, still kick the asses of Americans, French, and Japanese .... haushaushauhsa only to hurt the pride of American politicians. find themselves the owners of the truth, and truth are the cancer world.
Hard to win a war with both hands tied behind your back and an enemy that will take infinite tactical defeats and loss of manpower. Too many good men lost for a political circle-jerk. At some point our country needs to stop fighting wars in every new decade. We have been at war in some distant shit hole or another since the 1940's. Every..single...decade...
@martin1226 Let's put one myth to rest. Governments don't 'hold back' their armies from winning wars. Clausewitz recognized long ago that war is just politics pursued by other means. The US lost the Vietnam War. The government didn't hold back some sort of heroic fighting machine that could have ever functioned on its own. The US lost, for a whole host of complex reasons, but it lost.
Started when US stuck their noses in2Vietnamese wish to be independent from the French. Yanks fighting 2b independent from the Brits would have killed anyone that got in their way.So you can't blame the Vietcong for trying to kill yanks. Vietcong woman have their families killed by yanks so they want kill yanks.
US justification of the slaughter.Domino theory = total BS, just like WMD in Iraq. As long politician's sponsors can make a buck from wars they always find phoney excuses to fight them.
Cant stand this world why do i have to see this and live in this world full of all of this?
Cant stand how we people are being controlled to do whatever a few mens greed would like us to do. Is it really true that only the rich people has something to say while normal people are busting their asses of for their causes. The systems are giving us all the Negative things and we are seen as if we should make it better no matter who started it. Who made up this world this way?
@crusigala won? america lost in vietnam. Vietnam is a communist country after saigon fell. american's left vietnam and saigon was renamed ho chi minh city for a reason.
If youve been in it, is any combat footage "awesome" ? Not after the sacrafices my family and I have made to the Vietnam War its not, to me and my surviving sisters its not. And now my nephew with the Iraq war, poor guy is fucked up, he was in that 04-05 mess over there, cant even find his unit anymore.
The domino theory was created by an arrogant wealthy asshole who never had any skin in the game. How many lives were destroyed because of this arrogance. Still today, it's the same game, same arrogance just different players!
I go to vietnam a lot.....my uncle was a Marine during tet and I was a Marine during Somalia.....he takes me back to vietnam every year.....I love it. The people are great.....in the war museums they mention of their military occupation and military defeat....they know our own people were the political cause of our withdrawal.....the hate Chine...VN is barely communist...I felt more free there....so much that I would rather live there.....Cam Ranh bay may open to the US fleet...lookout
by 75 congress had repealed the tonkin gulf resolution and turned off the flow of military supplies that kept the south in the fight.without american advisior to cordinate supporting arms arty and airpower. the nva won in 72 easter offensive b-52s and american airpower and advisors helped beat back conventional attack by nva.
The united states got involved in the 1950's We had supplied most of the arms and equipment to the french in there indo china war. After the french withdrew in 54 the us trained and advised south vietnamesse forces. we hamstrung ourselves by unilateraly deciding to fight a defensive war and allowing the nva to have havens in loas and cambodia when us finally invaded 19 milies into cambodia in 70-71? so much material was captured and destroyed that south veitnam didnt fall till 75
men in combat have always fought for each other. Its why men will though themselves on a grenade to save there fireteam members you train with and go through hell with someone you love thouse buddies like family. My old partner froom pd was like that you face danger with someone and they prove they got your back and wont run away I don't have the words to convey it but if you been there you understand just the same.
Disgusted in the way Vietnam Vets were treated during and after the war, They layed their lives on the line fighting in that hell hole, and all the time there partners disowned them and public calling them baby killers etc. The men didnt want to be their but had no choice. Im not even American but i feel a sense of pride when i see footage of the men/war, they fought for each other in the end. Now people should be proud of that! Political issues aside, America should be proud of the Nam boys!
@TheCptnSQUASH Seeing as how Vietnam was never officially declared a war and instead was called a police sanction, I've never really gotten just WHAT we were supposed to be fighting against at the time. That was in my mother's time and she doesn't like to talk about it, her first husband served and was injured, and my father worked on the copters there, and he doesn't talk about it either.
@TheBookWorm1718 To the true patriots and Americans. It was a fight against communism. We tried fighting communism believing that if one country fell to communism the next would too. But somebody will probably disagree with me and pull up politics........which isnt what the vets would say.
@TheBookWorm1718 We were fighting to defend South Vietnam, or South East Asia rather, from communism. After the U.S. withdrew several million South Vietnamese and Cambodians were killed directly by communist leaders after our withdraw.
@nunny671 I've never understood that either. People act like they DECIDED to go to war, they didn't. It's called the DRAFT, they either serve, or go to jail and are branded traitors to their own country, and these were 18-19 years old mostly, what choice did they have? Everybody gets mad at them, why not Johnson for making card burning a 5 year prison sentence? Why not support the burns? Why not end the draft instead of taking it out on the boys who were forced into it?
@nunny671 and what about the vietcong womans, man and children? should we be proud on them to or is this just a pro america speach? u think the vietcong soldiers had a psych and medicines to treat their wound and mental problems? the thing why u think only about americas consequences, and the american soldiers dead is because u only see footage from americas side, there is no fragment or video on youtube or whatsoever who shows the war from the vietnamese way of view.
Its easy to say the war was wrong theses days. Cause the end result wasnt what the US was fighting for. I take off my hat to the US military in Vietnam. They fought a brave fight. No one could have done it better. Vietnams invasion of Cambodia showed that insurgents on home soil always have the upperhand. Vietmanese were mauled in Cambodia. I recommend a good book..'No more Vietnams' by Richard nixon. It is more pro-vietnam war but approach it with an open mind. it will answer many questions.
@stargaterules32 ....many prisoners had info....ok....most were killed later and we buried them in unmarked graves.....or tossed them from choppers into the sea tied up.
this war should of never been fought in the first place ..sometime i ??? why the USA, think what they r doing is right ,when they some cruel laws ,that sends people away in jail for life ..at such a young age ,they should fix there own country before trying too help fix other countries .they want too stop being bulling, when they are bullies them selves
deserve, what u going do in Vietnam huh? all this shit about a HERO, or be a HERO, USA dreams is bullshit, all war where this ppl fight and do nothing, just stolen , murderers , money , oil ....
Read ...'Chickenhawk' - can't believe how vulnerable they were in the helicopters from ground fire, only some had armour plate beneath them and few had the priveledge of wearing body armour.
@kostasssism as a semi-christian, i resent that, i know that their is so much that can be explained without GOD but watch stephen hawking's show "curiosity", it provides evidence of equal strength for each appeal, and if GOD turns out to be true then so is JESUS which means u r turning him away and he will turn u away at the gates of heav en right in front of GOD
@mastermac555 hawking's last stament is that the universe doesn't need a god to be created and even if god exists its certain by the scientists that bible is not god inspired.
nobody can be sure if there is a god or not and nobody knows what he wants from us
@kostasssism humanity done alot of stupid things religons not one of them religon gives u something to believe in what do u believe happens when u die
@kostasssism Tralfamadorians (aliens living on the planet Tralfamadore) form Kurt Vonnegut's books believe that every second of our lifes lasts forever... It's only an illusion that something has passed, is happening right or will happen. They believe our perception of time is an illusion. I hope it's that way. ;)

Thank you my friend but It's nothing compared with the problems faced by Soldiers.
The Average combat day for a GI in NAM was 240 days per year.
I read somewhere that a soldier should not be put into combat for more than 90 days.
After 90 days his performance drops and different mental symptoms eg PTSD get dangerously strong.
These are war scars. No matter whoever you are, soldier or civi, If you're caught in between. They're always there to get you.

@kostasssism as a semi-christian, i resent that, i know that their is so much that can be explained without GOD but watch stephen hawking's show "curiosity", it provides evidence of equal strength for each appeal, and if GOD turns out to be true then so is JESUS which means u r turning him away and he will turn u away at the gates of heav en right in front of GOD
mastermac555 6 months ago
@mastermac555 hawking's last stament is that the universe doesn't need a god to be created and even if god exists its certain by the scientists that bible is not god inspired.
nobody can be sure if there is a god or not and nobody knows what he wants from us
kostasssism 6 months ago
@mastermac555 and if bible is not god inspired then adam and eva and the original sin never happend.
so a messiah is useless for the humanity and so on.
try to find on tube some bbc documentaries about bible reliability

@kostasssism Tralfamadorians (aliens living on the planet Tralfamadore) form Kurt Vonnegut's books believe that every second of our lifes lasts forever... It's only an illusion that something has passed, is happening right or will happen. They believe our perception of time is an illusion. I hope it's that way. ;)
