I have just seen this at the Moscow museum of modern art. I was the only person in museum and each time I walked into a room a gallery worker followed and stared at me.
No, the difference is will ,choice and machines don't feel or spontaneously create.Don't simplify Naumans work. The meanings are surely more profound than a simplistic comparison of man& machine . Behaviors ,space, the five senses as opposed to measurement devices ,error, semiotics. These are only some of the areas he is commenting on . You are not a robot that is the irony of why and what we do.
This makes us look so systematic as humans. We are no different to robots, we are simply extremely complicated robots that say, talk, feel and associate things with one another. To me this video tries to show how ordinary life really is and how simple everything we feel and do is. This video makes me feel not like a human, but as a robot running through a process of life, reacting to situations as per the way I was programmed. Good work Bruce Nauman.
Yes I feel that, and moreso everytime I view his works I feel as if I'm lifted to another dimension, swollen with things which are naughty. That's ultimately what makes the mentality of the world seem real to me, otherwise I'd be lost in a whirlpool of incredulity... simply stunning. I could rub my trumpet all night, and it would be fine but thanks to this master of the medium I feel as though someone is rubbing it for me. Fantastic. Flabber-ghast-in-ting. Yes. I know the reason is this now.
This toss is worth less than nothing.
